Vintage should mean something. Vintage for me is so much more than a pretty theme; it’s finding pieces with their own story to tell – heirlooms, treasures and trinkets with real meaning. You can’t buy vintage in Debenhams – but discovering the true meaning of vintage is a journey many of us fall in love with. Today’s shoot is one to cherish: the wedding dress belonged to lovely Helen’s mum, and so this is a very personal inspiration piece which has me falling in love with it all the more.

The inspiration for this shoot has been staring me in the face for my entire life, every time I opened the wardrobe door of my parents’ bedroom in the house in which I was born. My parents married in March 1957 in Birmingham, my home town. They were both 22 years old and mad about each other. They were still mad about each other in 2007 which was the year of their 50th anniversary and the year in which my mum passed away.

Annie and Chris had a truly unique wedding – they know some amazing people and through friends they were able to marry at London’s fabulous Lyric Theatre – which gave their wedding so much personality and atmosphere, it’s just fabulous! The flowers are bright and colourful, styling is elegant and theatrical… and today’s bride and groom are as gorgeous as they are lovely. Images are by Sussex photographer Neil Walker.

We used bright spring colours for our flowers – peaches, lilacs, yellows & pinks. James from Detta Phillips is brilliant – they looked spectacular.

Don’t miss Chris and Annie’s wise advice (and genuine supplier recommendations) for you lovely lot, which you’ll find just after the photos if you scroll through the full feature today. “We designed and made our wedding stationery ourselves. It was a really enjoyable experience and we were really proud of our handiwork once they were finished. We made place cards and table plan in the same style as the invitations. Our navy & burgundy spotty theme ran throughout from the save the dates to the orders of ceremony and menus. We also designed print-outs of readings and songs to frame & sign with messages as thank you gifts.

This is what we at English Wedding Blog HQ call a wow wedding. A wow wedding is when we gasp, shout back at our screens and can’t stop grinning. It’s gorgeous – the images, the bride & groom, the bouquet (double wow!) and the styling of the reception… just amazing!

“I work as a designer so I loved creating the details for our special day. My dad built the chalkboards and easels for me which I decorated with the chalk pens by hand. My parents, brother, aunt, uncle and husband patiently assisted me with with the set up the day before – I knew exactly how I wanted to arrange the table wreaths, candles and vintage bottles and they were so kind to put up with me being obsessive over the placement of everything as I could mere have completed it in time myself!”

Our favourite is Peony for its flowing shape and beautiful movement. The delicate shoulders are perfect for a summer celebration, don’t you think? Clemmie teams vintage inspired lace with a flowing figure, while Ivy is classic, timeless… yet with captivating detail and a contemporary neckline.

Today, you lucky and lovely people, we’re excited to share an elegant wedding inspiration shoot. We love the style and story behind the images, which are beautifully illuminating and inspired by a colour palette of olive greens, chocolate browns, rich reds, rose golds and champagne creams. Oh, and isn’t this the most amazing bouquet since, like, ever?

Today tells the story of Roberto and Angelina, childhood sweethearts from the historical town of St Ives. They spent their teenage years having picnics by the river, taking long walks and watching the sun set over the Cambridgeshire countryside. After leaving the family home to follow his dream of traveling the world, Roberto returned five years later with a desperate need to see Angelina again. Even across the oceans his heart never left hers.  Now back, he vowed that if he ever left again, he would take her with him as his wife.

Our wedding was a mixture of a village fete and a 1930s edwardian carnival. It sort of evolved once I had picked the dress and the invites had been designed. The majority of suppliers were recommendations from Facebook, Pinterest and trawling through the internet.

We did everything ourselves with the help of friends. The village hall came with lovely old wooden chairs and tressel tables. We put these in the marquee and then added our detail. Our wedding invites were made into place mats and guests were given colouring pencils to show their artistic talents.

I’m a music lover – I live for amazing concerts in intimate venues, singing my heart out and dancing all night long. Music is important – I’d even say for me it would be the number 1 important thing at our wedding. I’d love to take our wedding to a live concert rather than host an evening do ourselves… I wanted to share something with you today which will help even the fussiest music lovers (like me!) choose the perfect wedding entertainment.

They had a relaxed outdoor wedding with lots of personal touches – both Simon and Sarah are ecologists and work in the great outdoors, so it had to be an outdoor nature themed wedding! “It was very important to use local suppliers. Most of them we found through word of mouth and recommendations from others.”

Happy Tuesday everyone! The last few days have been a whirlwind – our modern calligraphy workshop on Friday was brilliant, and I’ve been tidying up and reconnecting with the blog over the last couple of days. Meeting our lovely students on Friday made me think about all of the wonderful people I’ve met over the last few years, especially those who’ve played a part in making the English Wedding Blog a success. I wanted to take a little time today for some matchmaking, and to say thank you at the same time.

Without these amazing people, the English Wedding Blog just wouldn’t be around. They’re my friends; sponsors and supporters of the blog – and each one has been handpicked to play an active part on the blog because I’m a big fan of what they do. I love independent businesses; I’m a fan of wedding suppliers who are truly passionate and dedicated in their work. I will be thrilled if you take a little time this morning to discover some of this lovely lot – maybe even get in touch, see if they’re available on your day? You won’t regret it!Claire

Today’s is a fabulously fun, colourful and creative wedding on a budget – Charlotte and Gareth were married at Fison Barn and wanted to keep their day informal and pretty without breaking the bank! Their ideas are lovely; Charlotte’s DIY tips and her English Wedding Interview are a great read. I love Charlotte’s honesty too: they tried making invitations but in the end, as it can be so time-consuming to do, they bought their invites online and focused on the craft projects they’d really enjoy. And the ones where Gareth spent a few days covered in glue… oops!

Like with everything in this wedding, our flowers had to be colourful and fun. I used  Richard Mathews, who offered a good deal and were friendly, I gave them sort of free range explaining my theme was colourful and fun.  He asked me to find examples of flowers I liked then he worked out something from those. I was so happy with them as he’d managed to put in fresh sweet pea flowers, a flower I had really wanted.
