A brand new wedding barn for Idyllic Kent wedding venue The Ferry House

Published by Claire Gould on

Much-loved Kent wedding venue, The Ferry House, has announced plans to build a beautiful new wedding barn in time for spring 2026 weddings. Set beside the stunning Swale estuary between the wild meadows and wetlands of the Isle of Sheppey, the existing Oak Barn, Oak Gazebo and Event Suite have hosted countless celebrations.

The new plans mark the latest in a series of enhancements to the venue over the last decade, including landscaped wedding gardens, a waterside Gazebo, The Coach House luxury accommodation and, most recently, the Garden Lodge – a second ‘readying room’. The next, exciting chapter is to replace the current Event Suite with a stunning new Wedding Barn.

Under the plans, The Ferry House will remain open for weddings until 30th September 2025, after which their diary will close for weddings until Sunday 12th April 2026. The Ferry House’s 2AA restaurant and 11 luxury rooms will remain open and unaffected by the renovations.

Owner Victoria Burden says “we are committed to making The Ferry House the perfect place for our couples to enjoy the best day of their lives. In the past 10 years we’ve made numerous substantial improvements. Our new wedding barn feels like a really exciting progression.”

We’re currently in the ‘design phase’ of the development and are excited to be able to share plans by 10th January 2025, at the latest.

Our wedding diary for the new barn is open from the 13th April 2026 and couples can secure their 2026 date now free of charge, paying a booking fee only once drawings for the new Barn have been confirmed. We are extremely confident, given our plans are in-keeping with the style and quality of The Ferry House, that couples will be delighted with the improvements!

Aside from a stunning waterside setting, The Ferry House already boasts a beautiful Oak wedding barn and waterside Gazebo, accommodation for 70+ and delicious menus centred around their homegrown, farmed produce.

Victoria adds, “while this is an exciting new chapter, some things about The Ferry House will never change – the waterside tranquillity of the Harty wilderness as the backdrop to your day, the refined and rustic ambience of a relaxed celebration, and the care and dedication of our team, helping you have the best day of your life.”
