We’re not doing this Monday by halves, lovelies! We’re jumping right in to the week on English Wedding with a breathtaking, boho festival wedding which has everything. Gorgeous Victoria & Matthew’s day is brilliantly personal – the styling is done to perfection and its 100% uniquely THEM. The ceremony sounds amazing, with Aunty Jo (who told childhood stories and ended up with her own chant) in the role of celebrant.

Victoria’s incredible tasseled wedding dress is Woodrose by Willowby, from the highly recommended Heritage Brides. Matthew’s suit is from Master Debonair, discovered at A Most Curious Wedding Fair in London. Their day is captured beautifully (and with a wonderful focus on the entire ambiance of the day) by lovely Noemi at Thyme Lane Photography. I hope – actually I know – you will adore this.

With love,

When we went to look at our venue, the owner showed us some pictures of a shoot that they’d just staged there the previous weekend. After seeing those photographs, there was no one else that we wanted for the job!

I bloody love this wedding – it’s full of love and laughter and FUN and hugs. There are belly laughs, there are beautiful styling touches. The setting is fabulous and the story of the day makes me smile. Oh, and Nicola and Alex are the most gorgeous couple! This is exactly how I imagine weddings after lockdown to be: the most amazing celebrations full of glorious contact and friendship and happiness. And the photos by super lovely (and major talented) Yorkshire wedding photographer John Hope tell the story of Nicola and Alex’s day beautifully.

Talton Lodge is a fantastic tipi wedding venue near Stratford-upon-Avon. Nicola & Alex were married outdoors beside ancient acacia trees with the backdrop of the beautiful gardens and 300 year old Talton House. The tipi structure here is up all summer long; they made the most of the space with Victorian fairground games, making the most of the bouncy castle and hiring a roaming band to jazz up the atmosphere.

When Jonathan emailed me and mentioned “the coolest wedding dress ever” I was hooked! This is a beaut of a wedding: full of fun, colour and the most wonderful DIY details. Jade & Matt tied the knot at Newland Bishop Farm in May, with a festival themed day and a tipi reception. There were space hoppers, pom poms, blasts of colour EVERYWHERE, a picnic… a totally chilled out wedding. Photographer Jonathan – JS Coates Wedding Photography – described Jade & Matt’s day as “a burst of colour and smiles”. Just what we need on our screens right now, I think!

We had searched through tonnes of pics of wedding shots on instagram and immediately fell in love with Jonathan’s pictures. They were amazing and we knew that he was the one for us! They were timeless and yet very modern, with a relaxed vibe… we hate formal shots!

I think it’s my lucky week. I mean it MUST be – the weddings and shoots we’re sharing are insanely pretty! Then there’s my inbox – and the features we have coming up (with yet more amazing couples) are so exciting! Pinch me, someone! ? … anyways, today we have the BREATHTAKING wedding of Sophie & Elliot, who said their I dos at Sophie’s folks house, with a sperry tent from Papakata providing the loveliest backdrop to their day. Their June wedding was the perfect English country garden celebration (hats off to actually being in an actual English country garden, guys!) with styling and florals vibrant and exotic – even including the food! Sophie’s dress is a bespoke design from English Wedding members TDR Bridal – it’s stunning and she looks incredible.

The floral installations are by Pip Holland – Sophie and Elliot’s friend and a florist. Pip worked with her team around the clock for 4 days leading up to the wedding creating a topical paradise. Each table had an individual arrangement, then there was a flower arch and a large ring above the circular bar. All of the bridesmaids had flower rings instead of bouquets and the ring bearer (Sophie & Elliot’s dog!) looks adorable in a flower garland!

Happy Monday, lovelies! Now before I share today’s wedding I MUST remind suppliers about our January sale – we’re offering a rather lovely 50% off all Tier 1 and 2 advertising packages on the blog until the end of the month, saving you up to £60 for the year. As well as a listing in our UK wedding supplier Directory you could also claim 3 home page features on the blog throughout the year to really raise your brand profile! If that sounds good to you, get in touch!

And now – we’re joining gorgeous Penny & Ben for a trip to the funfair! What a wonderful way to brighten all of our Mondays 🙂 and with such happy and vibrant photography from Sally Rose Wedding Photography, we’re in for a joyful ride!

“Marleybrook House is already beautifully styled which really appealed to us. Once we added flowers and balloons we really needed little else. It was important for us not to have to spend lots of time preparing the venue so we could spend time with family and friends who had travelled to Kent for the wedding. We left most of the hard work to our trusty suppliers and Tanith our lovely wedding planner at Marleybrook House.

Woohoo!! I’m so happy to be sharing this glorious wedding with you all today! It’s one I’ve been excited to publish since last year… so grab a cuppa, log in to Pinterest and prepare to be wowed by all the wonderful details and fabulous images from our lovely friend Warren at Howell Jones Photography. The images are  joyful – and our stunning couple Niamh and Marcus show just what a wedding day should be: fiercely happy, overwhelmingly loved-up and brilliantly beautiful. Hands down, these guys just nailed it and had the most amazing wedding – with help from some fantastic Hertfordshire wedding suppliers.

Festival wedding photography UK by Howell Jones Photography (20)

The wedding was all in the grounds of Hexton School field behind the school car park in Hexton. Niamh is from Ireland, so all her family came across for the big day, where the ceremony was held in beautiful woods next to the fields. Sure, there was rain – but nobody cared one bit: the day was fabulous from beginning to end! Fun was had with a three legged race in the afternoon (and yes, we have pics!) – but the styling is what really made this wedding stand out for me. The flowers by White Button Weddings are absolutely amazing; the tablescapes with handwritten place names are beautifully rustic. The cheesecloth table runners in a soft grey complement autumnal red place settings with vibrant florals: crocosmia, seedheads and delicate ferns with blousy dahlias, and kraft card menus to complete the rustic vibe.

Sometimes I see a wedding and it looks the most fun a couple has ever had in their lives. Sometimes the joy and excitement spills through in every beautiful detail, and I spend ages just gazing at all the gorgeous photos to see little details and love and laughter and grinning back at my screen. Mike and Kelly are one of those amazing couples you can just see loved every moment of their best day ever, and I’m so happy they chose our fabulous friend and exceptional documentary wedding photographer Linus Moran to capture their wedding.

This truly is a wedding with everything: a boat covered in flowers, glorious sunshine and face glitter. A stunning bride beaming with joy, and her groom glowing with pride and happiness. The emotion of the day is pure magic – the love between this amazing couple is just magical to see.

Hey there beautiful! So today is an ideas day. We’re so full of ideas for a festival wedding I really don’t know where to start. This is a joyful celebration full of everything from English country fete to sustainable wedding style, all at Greenwood Grange in Dorset. There are old fashioned wooden skittles and garden games – not forgetting the old classic ‘hook a flamingo’ (or something!). There’s a cake table which reminds me of our annual village show – and they’re ALL winners! There’s a children’s party field and – from the handprinted signs – a secret midnight rave.

Ro and Matt had an eye on sustainability for their quirky Dorset wedding, which I love. There are vintage style gin and vodka dispensers to fill cute plastic cups – which are yours for the night to reduce waste! – and a recycling station. Our gorgeous bride wears a flower crown dried blooms and seedheads, which is just the loveliest idea. And oh – did I forget to mention the whole reception happens in a little network of yurt pods? It’s fabulous – and we get a bird’s eye view of it all, courtesy of our fabulous friend and sponsor, Dorset wedding photographer Linus Moran Photography.

The biggest change in weddings in the last five years has been in venues. Back in the day, you hired a big country house hotel and / or a marquee. Now it seems half of our weddings in the UK are in barns and fields – and I LOVE that! It gives you so much more creative freedom to style your day – and fits perfectly with three MAJOR wedding styles: barn weddings, festival weddings and tipi weddings.

I’ve worked with some fabulous planners and stylists who really come into their own for planning ‘blank canvas’ weddings – and one thing I’ve learned is that logistics is a pretty big deal. You need to hire everything from loos to generators, flooring to hay bales and benches for your wedding guests.

Often tipi and marquee companies can help. And sometimes you just stumble across a brilliant idea on Pinterest which fits perfectly with your relaxed wedding style!

A guest article by Wild Tipi

Most of us will have experienced the joys of an English summer festival; whether it’s on a huge scale like Glastonbury or a low-key local affair, we can all relate to lying back on the warm grass with a cool pint of something by our sides as the tunes drift over the crowds, stirring memories or awakening moods within us. Or perhaps it’s more a case of trying to stay upright in the torrential rain and mud as our friends fall about laughing at our efforts… either way, the festival vibe is something dear to many of us and evokes powerful feelings of friendship, togetherness, of finding your tribe and one heck of a party.

festival wedding tips and advice from Wild Tipi Cornwall for the English Wedding Blog (11)

So how to capture that spirit for your wedding day? Festival weddings were a key trend for 2018 and look set to dominate the wish list for many brides in 2019 and beyond. Here at Wild Tipi we are very blessed to have been a part of some amazing festivals and some amazing festival inspired weddings and we wanted to share a handful of easy to implement tips on how to create the perfect festival wedding with you.

Happy Monday lovelies! How was your weekend? We were at a wedding in beautiful Derbyshire, so I’m still over the moon feeling happy for my amazing friend Beth and new hubby Peter – we had the absolute best weekend ever. So I was so excited to stay in the wedding mood and share another gorgeous day with you all today – we’re sharing gorgeous bride and groom Amy and Chris’s wedding all the way from sunny Devon, with our friends Devon wedding photographers Howell Jones Photography behind the camera lens!

Amy and Chris were married in August at Colehayes Park near Newton Abbott in Devon. Amy told me their wedding was “The most fun party I’ve ever been to!” and you know what, it really does look that way! They called the wedding ‘Lonkerfest’ – the festival vibe was because Colehayes Park was theirs for over a week so lots of wedding guests stayed over and hung out and partied throughout the week! Amy’s surname is Lonnen and Chris’s is Straker – “together our friends know us as The Lonkers – hence Lonkerfest! It was full of colour and silly-ness – there was no real theme – just to PARTY and have fun!”
