We all want our wedding to be the happiest day of our lives, and most of us know how strenuous they can be to organise. There are bound to be all kinds of things you’ve never had to sort out before, and even more you didn’t realise you’d have to – such as booking yourself a wedding band. Most people don’t have to book bands often, and if you’re one of them, you’re naturally going to have many questions about how to do it right.

This is where we come in – allow us to present to you our ultimate list of wedding band FAQs. And don’t worry – with any luck, you’ll only have to do this once!

The nervous excitement is just bursting from your heart: the person you love popped the question; you said YES!!! and you’re planning the celebration of a LIFETIME! There’s so much to think about – and What To Wear is a biggie. You only get to do this once: the time in your life where you can spend ten times as much on a dress as you EVER would in a normal year. The excitement of wearing a dress SO special that everyone will turn and look as you walk into a room. The pressure to get it right… and the joy of owning something so wonderful, special and beautiful as your very own wedding dress.

So yeah, wedding dress shopping is a huge deal. And you’re basically juggling excitement in one hand with the pressure to get it right in the other hand. Aaargh, right?! Wedding dress shopping should be an amazing adventure. Plan it just right, and I promise it will be! But if you go into it without a little forethought, the pressure can take over and before you know it you’ve tried on 50 dresses in 10 boutiques… and you’re all shopped out, stressed and tearful. I get it. Overshopping the dress is REAL – and you CAN avoid it happening to you.

Morning lovelies! A short and sweet blog feature today, as I put final touches to our Christmas blog features and whizz around in my calligraphy studio making little gift sets for my Not On The High Street customers! If you’re looking for an extra gift for someone with crafty talents, stationery lovers or anyone planning a DIY wedding, I have an idea to help you!

My modern calligraphy workshops in March and April are selling quickly! I’ve been sending out gift vouchers with all sorts of Christmassy tags and lettering – and I have a few left if you’d like one!

I’ll be teaching modern calligraphy at a brand new venue, and one which I know is a fond favourite in Manchester City centre. LEAF on Portland Street is an amazing space. As the name suggests, they specialise in tea and I’ve seen on their instagram that that tea comes with some pretty spectacular cakes which I can’t wait to try.

I’ve been waiting to share this beautiful wedding inspiration for months! It’s perfect for winter, fabulously rich and colourful with the most wonderful fabrics, sparkle and geometric detail! This is the second part of an EPIC bridal story – we featured the first part of this editorial photoshoot from some of Cheshire’s most sought-after wedding suppliers back in October.

Lovely wedding photographer Zehra Jagani – Wedding Photographer of the Year in 2018’s Asian Wedding Awards – and the amazingly talented Sadauf from The Wedding Fairy teamed up to create this incredible editorial at Delamere Manor.

Together they created all of these different bridal looks in grey and pink, then green and grey, and finally in uber luxurious burgundy and gold tones.

The floral design is a work of art – beginning the day with soft pink roses, pampas grass and gypsophila with delicate anemones and elegant tulips, then the most wonderful array of dark red roses, coral tulips, orchids, lilies and clematis to create a spectacular backdrop and display for the focal area of the room.

Jenny and Ben’s August wedding is instantly a favourite for me – they’re the loveliest, sweetest couple and their day just rocks my wedding bloggy WORLD!! There are some wonderful ideas I just know you’ll love – aside from the hundreds of pom poms, there’s a mobile gin factory on a VW camper van with jars of spices and copper pots to make your very own wedding gin right there on the day – genius. There are sunflowers and pinwheels in a rainbow of colours, along with fairy lights everywhere, and fabulous vintage style tea length dresses, and GLORIOUS florals – it’s just everything. Jenny looks stunning in her Brighton Belle dress. Ben’s relaxed look gets a huge YES from me: suits are not obligatory for weddings, guys! He looks fab – and more than anything, the happiness between these two is infectious. They describe their day as “a colourful rustic, vintage, craft collaboration with a gin twist!”

Well, hello there weekend!!! It’s wonderful to be here! – and lovelies, before you head out Christmas shopping, do indulge in a little weddingness with me? I have the prettiest day to share with you, including some of the loveliest evening portraits of our gorgeous couple Leigh & Adam. The pair were married at The Plough at Leigh, and chose English Wedding member Terence Joseph as their wedding photographer.

“We made and sourced a lot of decorations ourselves, but the barn already looked beautiful with hops and fairy lights. We loved making some of our decorations as we got friends and family onboard and was fun to do altogether! We made name places, jars with hessian and signs – who knew we had so many creative friends! My favourite thing to make was our ‘Find your name to find your place board’ – we put Polaroids of all guests on the board with string and pegs so people could take them home with them.

Grab a cup of something cosy and spiced, and join me to gaze happily at today’s breathtaking editorial photoshoot. I’ve fallen head over heels for the warm, deep colours and the homely, hygge atmosphere of these beautiful images by Lucy Baker Photography. The creative team were led by lovely Lauren Alexander Weddings, who found a charming little run down outbuilding at Holbrook Manor and transformed it with a beautiful dessert and snack table. The team were so creative, upcycling a low hanging branch with handmade bespoke glass, playing with the sunset, the light and turning it into a perfect spot for photos.

I LOVE the little details: the cake (by Adorabella Cake Design) and stationery really make the look work so beautifully, tying all the elements together with colours, organic styling and soft, touchable design (I’m talking about Hélène from Smitten With Ink‘s wonderful choice of handmade papers!) – and the florals from  Rose and May Floral Design are spectacularly autumnal and truly enchanting. So be inspired by those hidden corners around YOUR wedding venue. Use the space for outdoor dining, use candles, fairy lights and textures to give your guests something to explore, and create another element to your day. Work with a stylist, source props and or hire and create something utterly bespoke to you for your day.

English Wedding hit 10 years of wedding inspiration back in November. I don’t know where the time has gone – it feels like only yesterday this whole crazy snowball of a wedding blog began, and I love our little part of the internet as fiercely as ever! In 10 years though, I’ve changed. I’ve teetered around the edge of becoming wholly vegan for a few years (I’m still failing on chocolate) and I’m more and more conscious of the climate crisis with every passing week. So I’ve been thinking this morning about how I can really bring my little wedding blog more in line with my personal values.

The beauty of most wedding blogs is their independence. Wedding bloggers are real, live, human people with hearts and souls – and we’re absolutely free to share our heartfelt opinions with the world. There’s no company line to toe, no restrictions on what we can say, and we choose the brands and little businesses we can shout about on our little bloggy pages. So let’s start there:

This week is flying by! Can you believe there are only… 13 days left before Christmas?! Eeeek!! (We have a lovely schedule of features to share over Christmas by the way – I’m super excited to hit ‘publish’ again almost EVERY day through the Christmas break!) But first – a wonderfully elegant, graceful and enchanting wedding from Glemham Hall, with stunning bride Aimee and her handsome husband James! The happy pair were married in October, and describe their day as “Rustic, romantic, Autumnal, Scottish, elegant, with a grand staircase. Perfect.” That’s pretty much the loveliest wedding-in-a-nutshell description I’ve ever read! Images are by our wonderful friend Ayshea Goldberg Photography, and I hope you enjoy today’s real wedding as much as I do. Have a fabulous day!

“Our wedding had a rustic with blush, burgundy and ivory colour theme. The overall look was autumnal, but with a Scottish flair.
