Atelier Rosemood designer wedding stationery

Whether it was love at first sight when it came to choosing your wedding invitations or you had to search high and low for the perfect design, the decision making isn’t over just yet! Now that you have picked out your favourite design, it is time to tackle your wedding invitation wording. Whether you want to keep your wedding invitations formal and traditional or go fun and original, all wedding invitations should include the same basic information no matter what the style.

Do not underestimate the power of your wedding invitation wording to set the tone for your big day, as you can turn a wedding invitation from classical to casual by changing just a few words. Getting your wedding invitation wording right will depend on a few different factors including: who is hosting the wedding, whether you are creating day or evening wedding invitations and what style of wedding you are hosting. There is a balance between providing your guests with all the information they need for your big day and having your wedding invitations represent you and your wedding style.

Gorgeous Devon wedding with a cycling theme and lots of ideas! Images by Martin Dabek Photography (32)

If your husband to be is out on his bike this Sunday afternoon, then this is for YOU! If you’ve both been cycling today and you’re relaxing after an exhilarating day in the saddle, then you’re going to love this more than anything you’ve ever seen on a wedding blog. Natalie and James – who’s a keen cyclist! – had a cycling themed wedding at Rockbeare Manor in August, and incorporated some ingenious styling touches into their day. Their photographer was our wonderful friend and English Wedding member Martin Dabek Photography, who captured the day so beautifully! I love the bicycle wheels with foliage on the walls, the table plan with a shelf full of cyclists… actually I love the whole day. And can we skip straight to that cake?!! The beautiful cake was made by Yvonne at Cherry Blossom Cakes and decorated with flowers by Emma at Brompton Buds.

A story made up of endless beautiful moments - Morden Hall wedding by York Place Studios documentary wedding photographers London (14)

Should you polish your wedding? An odd question, I know – but think with me for a moment. In these days of Instagramming our lives and sharing only the carefully planned, tidy, and perfect sides of ourselves I kind of miss seeing photos that make me feel something. A gorgeous line of bridesmaids, a pristine wedding gown or a messy bouquet are all glorious to see on insta… but amongst all the wedding pretty, I love seeing a photo which will make me laugh out loud, scroll back up for another look or even identify with the people in the frame. And that has to be a real, spontaneous, unpolished wedding photograph.

It’s why I’m such a big fan of York Place Studios. They’re not about the pretty details – they capture the story of your day in the most fascinating compositions. They’re the wedding photographers most wedding photographers would choose to photograph their day. They shoot with real expertise and a flash of humour. They’re brilliant; their brides and grooms LOVE them – and they keep my little wedding blogging feet firmly on the ground.

Golden hour wedding pics for a gorgeous colchester wedding, with Photography by Grace (11)

Today’s wedding has the most beautiful golden hour pics – and a gorgeous bride and groom whose focus is on family and celebration. This is how a wedding should be – full of love, and as creative as you’d like your day to look!! The photos by Grace Elizabeth are just fabulous and really capture the love between these two! “Grace completely understood the vibe we were going for. From booking to receiving our photos, everything was effortless. She’s certainly extremely popular with our friends and family!”

Our ceremony was at Colchester Castle. It was a beautiful day and I don’t think I’ve ever seen the town so busy. A superhero invasion and a historical re-enactment really added to the magic of the day. We even had cannons going off during our vows. I had little girls waving at me and calling me a princess – it was surreal but amazing!

Engagement rings designed online with Durham Rose UK (3)

Did your other half propose at Christmas? I imagine a few of you are smiling! It’s the busiest time of the year for engagements, and I suspect at least one of my friends will have a ring on her finger come Boxing Day! I’m really excited for her – I hope it happens, I really do!!! There are guys out there right now hunting for the perfect engagement ring… and that’s why I thought it would be the perfect time to share the wonderfully inspiring story of Durham Rose.

What could possibly be more personal than an engagement ring? It’s the physical representation of your love. It’s everything that your heart has to say, when it doesn’t possess the words to say it. And yet, you’re expected to express all of this with a ring off the shelf – unless you have the budget of royalty. This was a concept that that Manu, the founder of Durham Rose, struggled to come to terms with.

I promised you a wedding dress feature – so here it is! What I didn’t mention earlier this week is that these dresses are all under £1,000. Wedding dress shopping can be tough – it’s easy to fall in love with a design which is out of your price range. (Thanks a bunch, Pinterest!) But don’t be discouraged. There are stunning dresses around which are more affordable than most, and you’ll still look a million dollars on your best day ever.

We love these bridal designs from Kelsey Rose, one of our favourite British bridal and bridesmaid brands. The dresses are ideal for modern brides, with a contemporary approach and beautifully crafted details, made with love in Kelsey Rose’s London studio.

Style 18703 in Crepe & Lace – Available in Ivory and White

Classic elegance meets luxurious detailing. In our signature fit & flare shape, this dress features beautiful long sleeves and illusion back detailing. Layered lace gives the illusion of a Bardot neckline with long sleeves. In sumptuous crepe and lace, this dress combines texture with delicacy and lightness.

So today is officially my last day of work this week… we’re treating ourselves to a very long weekend of music and dancing our heads off, plus a little Christmas shopping too. Of course English Wedding will still have fabulous features coming your way: we’ve a wedding dress showcase tomorrow and then 3 gorgeous real weddings to share with you – all very different, and from Devon, Essex and London. I can’t wait to see them live on the blog! Today though, join me and my lovely friend Carol Elizabeth Photography for a virtual tour around one of Oxford’s most exciting wedding venues – the Ashmolean Museum. Carol is an English Wedding team member and visited the Ashmolean on our behalf earlier in the autumn when they held an open evening. She took her camera and captured a few images from the event – and she’s shared some fabulous pics from a beautiful real wedding at the Ashmolean too!

If you’re getting married in Oxford, then look no further for your venue and photographer! Carol Elizabeth and the Ashmolean Museum are your dream team!

Award winning London wedding photography by Nick Tucker on (9)

Every wedding is a collection of wonderful little stories. We spend months planning the tiniest little details and styling the day until we’re ready to pop – but in the end, every bride and groom tell me it’s about the people, the love and laughter, and having everyone you love in the same room to celebrate with you. So of course, your wedding photography is all about capturing the moments – and London wedding photographer Nick Tucker does that with a brilliantly unique style. He’s a fashion photographer who focuses on telling your story – and I love that his images have a sense of humour, a sense of occasion and above all a thoughtfulness and sense of fun! I’m delighted to welcome Nick Tucker Photography to English Wedding today. We’ll be hearing more from Nick in 2019 – I can’t wait! For now though, Nick’s here to introduce himself to you lovely lot. Enjoy!

Opulent blush and gold wedding ideas on image credit Bond Photography (35)

Happy Tuesday everyone! Today’s blog is all about lush, floral luxury – and unashamedly soft and feminine! The flowers are key to this look, which just oozes glamour and classic wedding style. A brand new wedding venue for 2018, The Barns at Redcoats in Hitchin, Hertfordshire has been lovingly restored by its owners and this provided the perfect opportunity for a team of highly creative wedding professionals to create a haven of elegance, opulence and romance through beautiful blush pinks, golds and pops of navy. The images are by Bedfordshire wedding photographers Bond Photography – a unique father & daughter team who work so well together capturing beautiful weddings all around the UK.

I adore the stationery by Olive & Millicent – the wax seal is fabulous and the foliage illustrated around the edges of the invitations is just beautiful. To add a luxury element, the suite was finished with a vellum wrap with gold detailing. The stationery for the table was hand calligraphed on clear acrylic to work alongside the stunning floral display.

Natural styling for a relaxed and beautiful English wedding with images by Sky Photography (17)

Hey lovely! How was your weekend? I had a fantastic calligraphy workshop on Friday, followed by two Christmas shopping trips over the weekend… and yes, I’m almost done! We shopped locally in the Lake District and bought lots of gorgeous handmade bits and pieces for everyone. I still have my man to buy for… leaving the trickiest until last!

Today I’m sharing a gorgeous wedding which lovely Simon and Karla from Sky Photography submitted to the blog a few weeks ago. Gorgeous bride and groom Kayleigh and Kieron were married at Bassmead Manor Barns back in the summer (remember those wonderful sunny weeks which seemed to go on forever?!) and their day is just blissfully beautiful.

“Our wedding was just the best day ever, surrounded by our favourite people. It all happened in the beautiful English countryside during the 2018 heatwave.

We wanted to keep the day relatively informal. The venue didn’t require a lot of decoration, due to its gorgeous surroundings. We kept the decor quite natural, in a simple navy, white and blush theme. The flowers were a dusty pink rose ‘Amnesia’ and big fluffy white ‘David Austin’ roses amongst lots of luscious eucalyptus and greenery.

Are you having a lovely, cosy, lazy Sunday? I’m covered in paint and supping hot chocolate… we’re painting our living room white and it’s looking like a whole new house, but oh my arms are sore! So I thought… time for a little treat on English Wedding. I am SO LUCKY to know such amazing wedding photographers all around the UK. The very best are English Wedding members, whose weddings I’m excited to share on the blog regularly… and I couldn’t be happier to tell you that Dorset photographer Robin Goodlad has joined us this month! Robin’s images are absolutely beautiful – but I will hand over to the man himself to tell you all about his documentary wedding photography, and his approach to capturing your day. Robin – welcome!

“You write the script, I’ll tell the story, has always been my philosophy with wedding photography. I believe weddings should be photographed subtly, and quietly, with observation of the key moments and pure emotion through the day, rather than creating moments that didn’t really happen. This way, the complete collection of photographs you receive really reflects you as a couple.
