6 Weeks To Go!

FEATURED
FEATURED

With just six weeks to go, the wedding seems to have rolled around pretty quickly. We planned a fairly short engagement (we got engaged in April, wedding is in September) but it still seems to have gone super fast and I really need to get my act together as there are still lots of things left to do! We need to find Paul something to wear, sort our rings, meet with the registrars, find me some lingerie, finish making the orders of service, organise the music…the list goes on. Unfortunately I’ve been feeling pretty ill recently, which is why there’s still quite so much left unsorted (I’m not usually that disorganised, honest!). I’m also very worried about feeling ill on the day itself, but there’s not much I can do about that except keep a positive attitude, so that’s what I’m going to try and do.

I’ve had a hair and make up trial and the lovely Allison Blake has altered my vintage wedding dress for me, so I now know what I will look like on the day. I just hope that Paul will like the dress as much as I do!

Very many congratulations to Sally! Really looking forward to seeing the pictures!

This week (as it’s the school holidays) I have been on the hunt for a new florist, and I’m going to pick up the finished invitations on Tuesday!

When I get the invitations it means the wedding will be real, down in black and white (or purple and ivory)! I’m really excited! I can’t wait to see what they look like!

I am making a scrap book on Blurb, using photos from when h2b tried on his suits and when we went to book the venue, all the dresses I tried on (28) and  elements of the wedding such as the favours and the invitations. I thought it would be a nice way to remember planning our wedding. We’re going to have been engaged for two and a half years by the time we get married (we’re saving up)  so I thought it would be a good way to commemorate it!

I was thinking of displaying it on the guest book table at the wedding.

Styal Lodge real wedding blogCome and join me for this enchanting wedding at one of Cheshire’s most luxurious wedding venues. Built especially for weddings, Styal Lodge is a pretty cool place – and Charlotte and James’s wedding shows off all its best bits!

First seen on the English Wedding Showcase, I love the fun elements of this wedding day: there’s a great picture of the bridal party with funky umbrellas, and towards the end a lovely portrait picture is completely thrown by the arrival of a naughty spider… McAvoy Photography really do capture the fun and playfulness in a wedding day and I’m sure you’ll love this as much as I do.

Charlotte and James are the most adorable couple – they look so deeply in love with each other, and I’m really proud to be sharing their wedding with you today.

Hands up who loves Parma Violets?! I do. And I do even more now I’ve seen Jayne and Phil’s parma violet inspired wedding reception at the Lowry, Manchester. With all photos by Chris Hanley Photography, take a peek at this fab wedding inspiration board – it’s purple-tastic.

Jayne and Phil’s wedding was at The Lowry in Manchester, a modern theatre with creative interiors in every colour you can imagine. The wedding reception room however is a blank canvas, so Jayne and Phil chose shades of purple to make it look amazing for their wedding day.

Jayne’s purple wedding bouquet was a cluster of pale violet freesias and darker purple hydrangeas. If you’re having a violet or purple wedding theme check with your florist which flowers will be in season. Purple roses are popular all year round; freesias spring-summer and hydrangeas throughout the summer period.

Chairs were covered in white and tied with a purple sash in organza fabric.

English Wedding’s Star Bride Sally is getting married – TOMORROW!

So now my wedding is done and dusted, I open the floor to Sally!

Sally – enjoy every moment of today, tomorrow and the rest of your life with Dav. I can’t wait to see how it all turns out!

As I always say, I yearn to live every moment of my wedding again – I remember exactly what I was feeling at this point before my wedding – I know I’ll never feel like that again and although it was a terribly nervous, constant sicky feeling – I’ll treasure it forever. I have never been so excited or nervous in my whole life – for the most exciting reason ever. (I’m even wearing the dress today I wore the day before my wedding and every time I put it on I get a little flashback!)

I can’t wait to share these sentiments with you 🙂

Make sure you come back to tell us all about it! But also enjoy the contentment and freedom being married brings you – no more to plan!

The Lowry, Manchester. This is a wedding venue and theatre (not usually in that order) in the heart of the newly developed Salford Quays district, close by Media City and a haven for creative types. The Lowry is named after Manchester’s famous artist L S Lowry, he of the matchstick men: stick figures huddled against the rain in greys and browns and gritty landscapes.

There’s a beautiful irony here: Jayne and Phil’s wedding at The Lowry is a rainbow of amazing colours, bright and sunny, blissful and exciting. I wonder if L S Lowry would have disapproved of the exuberant creativity… but I love it to bits! The Lowry is full of photo opportunities, nooks and crannies in every colour of the spectrum. Top UK wedding photographer Chris Hanley takes this palette and turns Jayne and Phil’s wedding photos into works of art.

It’s high time I introduced you to English Wedding blog sponsor Adam Johnson, better known as ARJ Photography. Adam is a brilliant wedding photographer who caught my eye back in October with Liz and Jon’s gorgeous e-shoot which I featured on English Wedding blog.

ARJ Photography is a business which has grown out of passion and a love for photography, romance and fun. With some of the very best wedding photographers you can just tell they adore their work, and with photographer Adam Johnson you can see he loves every moment, every image he captures and shares.

ARJ Photo Cheshire wedding photography (1)I don’t think any other photographer has had as many pre-wedding shoots on the English Wedding blog! Adam wrote a passionate guest blog post all about why you should have an engagement shoot which went up on English Wedding next.

Days Married: 82

The final instalment of The Wedding Report is upon us!

Here’s my mum’s friend holding up the photo montages we gave to our parents of our engagement shoot. Annoyingly – we forgot to give them out during the speeches so had to do it a little later… oops!

Here’s Alice preparing for her amazing jazz set later on.

So, yeah, we went to play crazy golf 😉 Jeff, our videographer, asked us if we were up for it and my response was something along the lines of ‘Jeff, you get us the clubs and balls, and we’ll play golf!’

And now for the ceilidh! This is Triple Scotch welcoming us into the evening. I was a little worried about how the ceilidh would go down, but as you’ll see, it went down a REAL TREAT!

As we hadn’t had our official first dance yet, we had an unofficial first ceilidh dance, where we took centre stage in the middle of the circle!

Something new, inspiring and seriously exciting is happening in the UK wedding industry.

On Friday I had a call from Damian Bailey. Damian is a UK wedding photographer with a vision. He’s great. Damian is organising The 2012 Wedding Industry Awards. This is a huge undertaking, not least because this is the first fair, all-encompassing, wedding industry award event.

I’ve openly criticised other wedding awards which I thought were unfair. I scrutinised the rules and processes behind The 2012 Wedding Industry Awards and was very impressed. This is a whole new world for the UK wedding industry – an award which is fair, open to all and voted for by brides and grooms. Wow.

The 2012 Wedding Industry Awards

I jumped at the chance to be involved. This reflects everything I stand for: an honest wedding industry driven by creativity and integrity. I’m in. And I promised Damian I’d do everything I could to help promote The 2012 Wedding Industry Awards

One sunny day in Chelsea, a bride-to-be gets ready with her best friends and closest family. There’s a knock on the door and little feet rush to answer. It’s a man with a camera. Enter reportage wedding photographer Mark Carey, delighted to be greeted by the cutest of cute little girls (that’ll be bride Sam’s adorable little daughter) and set to capture a gorgeous wedding day on camera.

Chelsea wedding photographer blog feature (1)I love the story – in pictures and in Sam’s own words – of this wedding for two things. First it’s just beautiful to look at, one of those where my heart leaped into my mouth when I first saw the images! Second… Sam and Kev did things their own way and created a relaxed celebration, a fun party and a great day for their friends and family. Sam wrote a great wedding report so I’ll hand over to her to tell you all about the wedding day.

Tracy and Richard were married at the stunning Thornton Manor. Their style – as you’ll see instantly from the beginning of this wedding movie – is cool, just a dab quirky and lots of fun! Tracy’s dress is an absolute stunner – she makes a beautiful bride.

Inspiring details include the white VW camper van to the church, the vintage cars on the drive to the manor house, the wishing tree and beautiful group shots taken by top wedding photographer Tobiah Tayo.

The wedding reception has lovely vintage styling with candelabras on every table draped with strings of pearls. The sumptuous venue can only be admired – with luxurious surroundings, ornate frames and beautiful lighting, this really is the most special of wedding days.

Watch for Tracy twirling happily around in her wedding dress during the first dance – it’s fabulous to see such a wonderfully happy bride and groom!
