Today’s feature is a little different – and an absolute must-read, we think! It’s already one of our faves here at English Wedding HQ and I hope you love it too! Lovely Alexandra from Alexandra Rose Weddings wrote it for us, working alongside a fabulous creative team with images captured beautifully by Bethany and James who specialise in Fine Art photography and film making. Alexandra’s floral styling is just wonderful – she applies an imaginative way of thinking when working with garden grown flowers, allowing the shape of the flowers themselves to dictate the overall design. Her style is beautifully naturalistic and sculptural too.
Good morning beautiful! Gin lovers – this one’s for you. (And who doesn’t, at lunchtime on a Saturday, right?!) An elegantly styled, beautifully photographed, gin-themed wedding. If only we’d thought of that… gin connoisseurs Victoria and Adam were married in the Devonshire village of Ashton. They had bottles hanging over the reception venue’s entrance, sloe gin favours, and the tables were named after different gins. The amazing table plan, incorporating the bottles, was put together by Adam’s step Dad, who also made the church signs. The church was only a short walk from the drinks reception at The Great Barn, allowing a fiddler led procession from the ceremony to the drinks reception! The Great Barn has a stunning collection of buildings all set in beautiful grounds and gardens.
If you love where you live, why not incorporate the essence of the place into your wedding day? You really can get married wherever you’d like nowadays – with the help of a celebrant you can say your vows on the beach, on a mountain top, on a boat, a lake… pretty much anywhere. I’m one of those lucky creatives who live close to the Lake District – and today’s blog post is all about bringing the spirit of a place into your wedding styling.
The English Wedding Blog exists to fire your imagination; to bring you the most beautiful wedding ideas and creative styling so you can incorporate unique special touches into your day. Exquisite design and breathtaking photography is a part of that, and today’s feature is more than a little special for me.
Working alongside the uniquely talented Verona Lain Photography, I crafted the calligraphy pieces in today’s feature by hand using divine papers from Paperchase and a traditional dip pen and ink. (Join me for a calligraphy workshop in Manchester next Friday if you’d like to learn to write like this!) They fit so perfectly with the little details: the wonderful ring from the London Victorian Ring Co. in its adorable box by La Petit Box. The silk ribbons by Kate Cullen are, as always, the prettiest touch.
I have the loveliest shoot for all of you dreamers out there today… Andy and Adam are the sweetest couple along with beautiful Buster – and their story is so romantic! They told me they met one night in a bar and hit it off instantly. “We broke all the rules and within a month we were living together. 4 months in, and Buster our baby (puppy) came along into our lives, and the rest is history as they say! Exactly 8 years after we met, we tied the knot and we’re currently preparing to embark on a honeymoon of a lifetime…
