I truly believe that part of a wedding supplier’s job is to inspire, to create and to invent. While it’s easy to stick with popular products, couples still like to see innovative designs, unique ideas and creative touches to eke an “ooh” out of wedding guests.

I want to push myself, create new things and help other wedding suppliers do the same, so we can share them with you lovely brides and grooms. I also want to find the most creative wedding inventors out there – whether they’re pro suppliers, start up businesses or even crafty brides and grooms – who would like to share their own ideas and products with engaged couples.

In 2013 I had a great time being involved in creative shoots, with my calligraphy featuring first of all in Fiona Campbell and Kat Forsyth’s fantasy fairytale wedding inspiration shoot.

A friend of mine asked me last weekend which was the best wedding I’d seen recently, and I forgot to tell her about this one. For me personally, this is pretty unbeatable and it’s all down to the location chosen by beautiful bride Emma and her husband Tom. They married on the spectacular Isle of Skye and really made the most of their surroundings with their wedding photography.

Isle of Skye wedding by Love Skye (1)

What struck me when I first saw this wedding is Emma’s bridal look: she wears her hair up for the ceremony and looks fabulous, but standing looking out across the Isle of Skye for the portrait photos later with her hair loose she is one of the most beautiful brides I’ve ever seen. Her secret? Keeping it real – falling in love with the landscape, choosing a location which literally means the world to her and Tom, and being herself.

I do love a good infographic – those carefully crafted diagrams which tell us all the wedding stats we need from average budgets to the number of marriages and which counties are the most romantic… Admittedly some are rubbish and some are mildly interesting at best – but this little feature on wedding songs had me raising an eyebrow or two so I thought I’d share it with you! I’ll be honest… some of the first dance songs would make me hurl. At the same time, the songs listed as “overplayed” are classics… which is fine, isn’t it?! My own personal choices don’t make the list…

With thanks to Glen from A Few Good Men for sharing with us today – food for thought, perhaps? Are your songs on the list, or are you tempted to choose a celebrity wedding first dance number? Maybe you were, but now you know Mark Zuckerberg had it, you’ve gone right off the idea of Green Day as your first dance… hehe.

Hey everyone, happy weekend! What are you up to this morning? I’m doing a little bit of work behind the scenes here at English Wedding Blog HQ, and looking forward to cooking up a storm with my man for dinner tonight. I have a little treat for you first though: these lovely personalised wedding stamps by Noolibird!

Noolibird wedding stamps

They’re pretty awesome aren’t they… and even more so if you imagine the potential. Just one stamp can tie your whole wedding together, from save the dates and invites through to your orders of service, escort card display, place settings… you could even use them for wedding signs for your sweetie buffet or cake table, for little labels on favours and for thank you cards after the big day!

Sophie and Chris’s wedding has the lightness, prettiness and creative flair I love. It’s gorgeous and charming with an English country flavour… think buttercup fields and Mary Berry, jam and cakes, cottage garden flowers and laughter in the May sunshine and you’re halfway there.

I hope you’ll enjoy this beautiful wedding on the blog today – even more, I hope you’ll take some ideas from it to style your own day. The flowers really make it for me: you can’t go wrong with peonies, and the hydrangeas are spectacular too. Bride Sophie is stunning and the images are wonderful.

Have you struggled to find a wedding venue with character? Sometimes it can be hard to find somewhere which really reflects both of your personalities, and if you long for a unique or quirky venue for your wedding, the average hotel just might not cut it. When it comes to finding a venue which suits you both, maybe The Brewery could be the place you’ll fall in love with – it certainly has its own charming history and I suspect I’d feel right at home in there! Have a quick peek at the website – it’s awesome and when I saw it I knew I had to share it with you too!

Hello there! This morning’s wedding blog is a special feature full of ideas, inspired by Becky and Greg’s Farbridge Barn wedding on the blog yesterday. Lovely photographer Sophie Duckworth sent me so many images of the gorgeous details I simply had to give them a little more attention here! I adore a creative bride and groom, and if you love crafting as much as Becky then this is going to be right up your street!

Families and friends often play a big part in weddings: gone are the days when Dad’s only role was to walk you down the aisle and make a speech. If your Pop is handy with a hammer he’s more likely to be making your wedding signposts, huge wooden initials full of lightbulbs… you name it! And Mums and Grans are often recruited not only for cakes but to sew miles of bunting while you and your other half print, glue and stick invitations, table plans, orders of service…
