Winter wedding styling can be very traditional, and it’s tricky sometimes to find ideas online for winter wedding decor with a bit of a difference. Red roses anyone? Maybe it’s just me… but I get a bit bored of red roses in winter. If you fancy something a little different to brighten up and warm your wedding styling when there’s snow outside, today’s gloriously rich shoot will be right up your street.

I adore Etsy. For visual wedding ideas and for those times when my eyes just need a little treat, I head to Etsy. Even before Pinterest! It’s a wonderful, gorgeous, inspiring little part of the internet and I adore it. Some of my favourite weddings on the blog have been from brides and grooms where Etsy has played a big part in their day… If you’d like to see a real wedding, then Naomi and Eric’s Etsy-filled wedding was a real favourite!

My favourite finds on Etsy! All these amazing sellers are listed and linked to below. You’re welcome!

Today I’ve been playing on Etsy and saving some of the ideas there to show you. I know you’ll adore these! If you’re new to Etsy then click on the sellers, explore their shops and spend a few pennies to show your support for independent craft businesses. They’ll love you for it and so will I!

I always try and see the bright side of winter, don’t you? Early morning frost and winter sunshine, the promise of snow and snuggling up by a cosy fire… because winter can be the most romantic time of the year. I love it. So do Paula and Stephen, today’s gorgeous bride and groom on the English Wedding Blog. They created a winter wonderland wedding full of festive sparkle.

Kitley House is a luxurious 500-year-old country house hotel in the Devon countryside, very romantic and with gorgeous gardens and grounds. Mark from Evolve Photography got in touch with me to share the images of their wedding day, which I hope you’ll love. Watch out for the vintage brooch bouquet which the bride made herself! Enjoy today’s wedding on the blog… it’s a gorgeous one!

Were you pleased with your wedding photographer?

We were so pleased with our photographer. We were looking for someone that would take a story of our day whilst blending in to the background. What we got with Mark was exactly that. He also provided us with some very useful tips during the day!

Is Emma Victoria Payne the best kept secret in British bridal design? I have some gorgeous images of wedding dresses from Emma Victoria Payne’s latest collection to share with you today, and I hope you love them. They’re oh-so-elegant and classic; intricately designed and beautifully luxurious. And yet there’s very little of Emma Victoria Payne online…

EVP bridal (3) I’d love to see more of Emma Victoria Payne’s dresses on the big wedding blogs. Emma has some fabulous reviews around the web, especially for her bespoke service and unique wedding dresses. But I’ve rarely seen her on the top blogs – and that should change! Wedding blog fans will enjoy seeing beautiful real bride Billie in an Emma Victoria Payne dress on Rock My Wedding, but I struggled to find more real brides or features online… and Emma herself seems a delightful mystery!

Are you hiring a stately home for your wedding day? Will you be making the very most of the venue – playing the lord and lady and enjoying every last drop of luxury and aristocratic style for the day?! For me, getting married in a grand country house is an opportunity to really treat yourselves and your guests to a luxurious experience you’ll never forget!

Suffolk wedding blog Gavin Conlan Hengrave (4)

Hengrave Hall is one of those wonderful English country mansions where the atmosphere is richly romantic, enchantingly atmospheric… and I wanted to show you the gorgeous photos from Bryony and Aaron’s winter wedding which really capture the luxury of a magnificent wedding venue. Essex wedding photographer Gavin Conlan kindly shared their wedding images with us today on the English Wedding Blog.

Wedding venues have been on my mind rather a lot recently. I see lots of weddings on blogs where the venue takes a bit of a back seat. Maybe it’s the blogs; maybe it’s the magazines too! But there’s a danger that what we see (or don’t see) in the wedding media can mislead us. Don’t let your magnificent, quirky, charming or historic wedding venue fade into the background on your big day!

Bring out the best of your wedding venue with great photography

I had a little chat about venues with my wedding photographer friend Martin Hambleton. He was involved in a photo shoot at gorgeous Arley Hall in Cheshire with three other fabulous wedding photographers, and we asked them all to share their thoughts on wedding venues as well as some stunning images from inside the stately home.

In his email Martin said, “The venue is tantamount to being a guest at the wedding to me!  Couples spend a long time visiting and choosing, and I think they’re done a disservice if the venue isn’t properly used on the day by the photographer.  Especially if it’s somewhere as splendid as Arley.”

I’ve always been an advocate of finding wedding suppliers you ‘click’ with. Choose a photographer who understands you both; find a venue you’re comfortable in, and hire a stationer bursting with enthusiasm for your wedding style and theme. Now, wedding suppliers come in all shapes and sizes, and today I’ve found you one with wheels and wipers. She’s adorable – full of character and class, a lifetime of adventures behind her, and if you meet her I have a feeling you’ll fall head over heels in love with her! Say hello to Dolly the vintage wedding campervan!

Dolly is the star of today’s bohemian wedding photoshoot, based around a vintage picnic with gorgeous images to inspire your big day. On a bright and sunny September morning, a team of suppliers packed their bags ready for a photoshoot with Darby & Joan.

A delicate selection of sandwiches and cakes, jugs of Pimm’s and vintage china teacups brought Jennifer and Andrew’s English tea party wedding to life. There are so many beautiful photos here to inspire you to create a similar theme for your wedding day. With a stunning bride and oodles of wonderful images, this is a treat to brighten all of our Fridays!

Jennifer wears a gorgeous lace wedding dress by Mia Sposa; Andrew looks great in a tailored suit by Owen Scott. Their vintage theme happened almost by accident: looking to create a very personal wedding that reflected their personalities, the English tea party wedding kind of all came together on its own! And it looks amazing!

There’s so much I love about Katie and Kevin’s wedding: their effortless style and choice of a glamorous, vintage inspired theme, their focus on friends and family… Katie describes their wedding in Lancashire as “An amazing party filled with love and laughter surrounded by the people we love the most!

And then there’s Katie’s beautiful Charlotte Balbier designer wedding dress, from The White Closet in Didsbury. What a stunning bride, and what a magical celebration. As we enjoy a little chilly weather this month, it’s the perfect time to share this beautiful winter wedding with you. The images are by lovely Zoe at ZT Photography, who gets a glowing review from the bride and groom in their wedding report at the end of the feature!

I recently saw a wonderful real wedding on the Love My Dress blog where the bride and groom created a beautifully styled literary themed wedding on a low budget. Beautiful bride Vicky wore a dress by Phase Eight, the London and online wedding boutique famous for its affordable prices and trendy, contemporary wedding dress designs. I’m delighted to be able to share the Phase Eight 2014 wedding dress collection lookbook here on the English Wedding Blog with you today.

The Phase Eight 2014 wedding dress collection was inspired by glamorous Hollywood looks of the 1930’s and 1950’s with embellishments taken from exquisite vintage embroidery and beadings. Phase Eight’s bridal designer describes the collection as one of ultimate femininity, with a glamorous and whimsically beautiful vintage feel.

Each bridal gown, accessory and bridesmaid dress has been created to ensure that you can customise and personalise your look with beaded belts, lace edged veils, coloured sashes to link in with your bridesmaids and capes in feathers and beading to give glamorous coverage.

Today’s real bride Melanie has one of those smiles which light up a room – she’s such a stunning bride and the images from her Norfolk wedding to James are wonderful.

Norfolk wedding photography by Rob Dodsworth (1)

I adore a seaside wedding – Melanie’s top tip for other couples is to “Enjoy every second – it’s over in a flash!  Do something special away from the crowd – Rob, our photographer, took Jim and I down to the beach and it was lovely to have some alone time with Jim!  I really remember that being special.” It most certainly looks like a magical and romantic moment when you see the images!

With thanks to today’s gorgeous real bride and groom Melanie and James. Their wedding report is at the end of today’s feature and includes a handy supplier list for other Norfolk brides and grooms – so do check it out! Thanks also to wedding photographer Rob Dodsworth for sharing his images of their beautiful day. Everyone – enjoy!

There’s nothing worse than being told what you “should” have for your wedding, is there? Saul and Michelle’s Northamptonshire wedding is creative, simple and looks every bit the occasion to remember forever. With images by Jules Fortune Photography and two fab venues: Boughton House and The Marquess of Exeter.

Northamptonshire wedding Boughton House Jules Fortune (32)

Savvy brides and grooms are planning ever more personal celebrations with a focus on the special touches they love best. That’s what Michelle and Saul did, choosing to ditch the seating plan for informal dining. They chose two fabulous venues which didn’t need extra decoration, and included family in creating a wonderful day: Michelle’s cousin played guitar, their sisters did wedding readings, and family members contributed gorgeous little treats for an oh-so-yummy-looking dessert table. Overall – an amazing, very personal, family-oriented wedding day. I love it.

With congratulations and thanks to the very lovely Michelle and Saul for sharing their wedding on the English Wedding Blog this morning. Read their wedding report at the end of the blog post for great advice from spreadsheet queen Michelle! Huge thanks also to wedding photographer Jules Fortune for submitting their Northamptonshire wedding to the English Wedding Blog.
