I do love hearing stories from all of my brides and grooms whose special days feature on the English Wedding Blog. You’re all so amazing it’s unreal! The tips and advice you share have taught me pretty much all I know about wedding planning… and I know so many other couples are inspired by your words and images every single day.

Today it’s Charlotte and Chris whose beautiful wedding will be published on the pages of the English Wedding Blog. They’re a stunning couple whose words and images about their wedding will stay with me for a long time. I found it hard to select images because so many were just gorgeous. (Happy news: there are loads for you to scroll through! Yay!)

The same goes for tips and advice from the happy couple, but I do love this brilliant advice: “make sure you plan a special exit because otherwise it tails off and you just walk out which isn’t very special. We went for the classic running through the sparklers – it was lovely and everyone got to have fun playing with sparklers as we drove off.”

I love every wedding I publish on the blog for a different reason. Sometimes it’s the flowers, other times the handcrafted details. Today it’s the way gorgeous bride Chelsea shows her excitement and happiness in every photograph. Scrolling through the images of Luke and Chelsea’s wedding has me feeling nervous, then delighted and content along with her… and I hope you’ll enjoy all of their beautiful images as much as I have.

This is another wonderful outdoor wedding from The Pavilion at Lane End. The pavilion gives the option of having an outdoor ceremony, but there’s always a back up plan in case the weather isn’t on your side… and for Chelsea and Luke it was looking gloomy until the very last minute, when the weather brightened and meant they could be married outside after all!

I’m not a weepy blogger… but it’s totally true that Laura and Rob’s interview for the English Wedding Blog brought a tear to my eye. They’re the most amazing couple: their images are as wonderful as the day they planned around the passions of their family and friends.

We have everything in today’s real wedding blog: a beautiful bride and gorgeous groom, fabulous photography and oodles of romance.

There are also, of course, the details we all love: country garden flowers, handcrafted details, wedding signs, miles of bunting and the prettiest dress and accessories you can imagine. All are captured in the romantic and whimsical style of lovely Rebecca from Wild Rose Photography.

Laura told me the best thing about being married is “the feeling of being part of an incredible team and that you can take on the world together.” Need I say more?

There’s a minimum of fuss to Natalie and Tom’s West Sussex wedding – they chose elegant, understated details and they chose well. Their table plan is simple and contemporary; the flowers are modern and summery; venue styling is subtle and chic. I love everything about their day.

Barn weddings come in all shapes and flavours these days, and Natalie and Tom went for pretty pastel colours with a bright and seasonal style. The menu was veggie (which is awesome!) and guests had plenty of traditional games to keep them occupied after the meal.

Images are by my lovely sponsor Jennifer Sinclair Photography. Jennifer is a Hampshire wedding photographer whose style is romantic, natural and relaxed. Natalie told me, “We loved having Jennifer share our wedding day. She blended in with our day perfectly and all the guests commented on how professional she was… Our wedding photographs were perfect and just what we wanted – she really captured the day.

The alpacas were a surprise… Caroline told me their wedding was an informal, countryside celebration with “alpacas as the accidental stars of the show” – and I think they’re adorable. The appeal of an outdoor wedding is unpredictability, to an extent… but this is something new! I love it!

Planning a wedding in just 4 months makes DIY a little trickier, but it didn’t stop Caroline and Rory from making their own stationery, with friends helping out with other crafty details. One friend made 200 metres of bunting for the day, and at the last minute too! It looks so lovely in blue tones strung across the reception space.

Hunting for suppliers was done online, and our gorgeous bride and groom were lucky to find Yorkshire wedding photographer Susie Lawrence, whose images are beautiful and relaxed – a perfect fit for an informal wedding. Caroline told me, “Susie was exactly what we needed on the day – discreet and friendly, putting us all at ease.”

I lied a little… Andy from Howling Basset Photography has been a sponsor of the English Wedding Blog before, and I’m delighted to say he’s back with us for the winter! So many couples start looking for their wedding photographer between September and March – it’s the perfect time to hook you up with great wedding photographers and I’m hoping to have lots of Andy’s real weddings from the summer to share with you soon!

This level of wedding experience means I’m calm, professional and unobtrusive, helping me to best capture the full story on your biggest day. I simply love what I do; being part of and capturing the biggest day in a couple’s life is both an honour and rare privilege.”

I love an elopement more than anything… and as the magazines tell us weddings are getting ever more expensive, couples are embracing the latest trend and running away together again. But times have changed and we all want our lives, Instagram feeds and elopements to look amazing… so I asked Nicola from Ever After – A Dartmoor Wedding to share her very modern take on elopements with us! Enjoy. claire gould calligrapher signature

“Elopement weddings, intimate weddings, runaway weddings, micro weddings – whatever you call them, they’re becoming increasingly popular.

Running a wedding venue I have regular contact with our local Wedding Registrars and they’ve been telling me that elopements are on the rise for couples. You don’t need a crystal ball to guess some of the reasons why…

According to a survey published this year by You and Your Wedding, the average cost of a wedding in the UK is over £20,000. That’s a lot of money for most couples. Add to the mix family politics, the fact that the average wedding takes 36 days to organise and you begin to see the attraction. Take a look at a previous feature on the English Wedding Blog  for some of the reasons couples choose to elope.

A few weeks ago I picked up a copper jug from a village hall sale. It’s battered, patched up and utterly gorgeous. I’ll style my calligraphy studio around it; if I was planning a wedding I would style the sparkliest of modern tablescapes around it. Today we’re taking a look at how YOU can style your own wedding with copper accents and super sparkle. Images are by lovely Amanda Karen Photography.

Amanda curated a styled shoot along with Daydreaming Bride which contrasted grey and copper tones with a city chic wedding style. I was in my element writing copper calligraphy pieces for the shoot – we came up with a handwritten invitation, envelope and menu using the palest grey card and metallic copper ink. It worked beautifully with the lush greenery on the table. (oh, those ferns…)

The shoot was lovely in every way: the overall look of the set was breathtaking; the bride was more than beautiful and every little detail was so carefully considered to fit with the chic styling of the wedding tablescapes.

How is your Monday going? We’ve just got back from our adventures at The Handmade Fair and I wanted to share something pretty and summery with you… a glorious outdoor wedding at The Pavilion at Lane End.

The flowers are fabulous; the bride and groom look amazing, the venue is one of my favourites.

Jenni and Phil’s wedding style is classic and traditional, with lovely coral and pink accents in the flowers and some brighter colour mixes through the day. The cake is tiered chocolate with tumbling fruit and chocolate swirls; it looks too good to eat!

Cliche it may be, but your wedding should be all about YOU! Style your day with the things you both love, and you’ll have happy memories forever. Claire and Christian did an incredible job of making their day really personal – taking things to the next level with their wedding favours (bristlebot, anyone?!) and chose a super Lake District wedding venue which they made their own for the day.

Real wedding at the Wild Boar in Windermere with Jay Emme Photography (12)

I’m so excited to feature this wedding – the room Claire and her girls got ready in is where we stayed back in August! It’s more than lovely and I know they adored the place. Claire is gorgeous and looks amazing all day as she changes from her ivory heels into green wellies and purple Converse… I LOVE a bride with personality!!

The Wild Boar is a venue which needs very little extra wedding decor. Claire and Christian told me, “It’s lovely. Low wooden beams and a little bit higgledy-piggledy! We were keen as far as possible to let it speak for itself. We decorated the tables and the Wild Boar supplied some table vases.”

Those of you who follow me on my personal instagram will know I’m lucky to live by the beautiful Lake District. My home is one of the most beautiful places in the world and I’d never dream of getting married anywhere else. Andy and Katie’s wedding is literally right up my street – and instantly shoots to the top of my list of weddings of the year. Their day is charming, full of personal touches and still wonderfully down to earth. Oh and Katie is the prettiest bride with such a wonderful smile… you’ll LOVE today’s real wedding.

The colours for the day were kept in line with the Lakeland setting: blues and greens kept the styling consistent, although little decoration was needed. Katie is a keen and talented crafter, and she made 150 metres of bunting to string across the beams of the chapel and reception venue.
