I’ve been busy recommending photographers I love to my friends who are getting married this summer – and everywhere I see couples are booking wedding photographers even for their weddings in 2017… I guess it’s that time of year. Which is perfect, because I like to think of myself as a matchmaker: I see a LOT of wedding photography and I want to help you hook up with amazing photographers for your wedding. Which brings me to lovely Liam Smith Photography

Liam Smith Photography has been on my radar since the early days of the English Wedding Blog. Liam combines fine art photography with a beautiful narrative, capturing your day in a sensitive and unique style. I think he’s pretty awesome. I’m delighted to say Liam has rejoined the English Wedding Blog as our latest sponsor and will be sharing plenty of gorgeous real weddings as well as expert advice with all of us over the next few months. Liam – welcome.

It’ll be spring very soon my lovelies… and then summer again, and we’ll be celebrating the gorgeous sunny days of weddings which make this little wedding blog’s heart sing! By the magic of the internet I have a beautiful June wedding to transport you right into summer this morning: gorgeous bride and groom Jo & Sam share their day…

The decoration was all low key, we hung lanterns in the marquee along with wooden hearts but we wanted to keep the decoration to a minimum. Elvey Farm has its own florist, a wonderful lady called Lesley Masters. I gave Lesley some rough ideas and asked for everything to appear natural like it had just been picked from the garden and she came up with the beautiful creations.

“I was delighted with the photography from our wedding. Fiona managed to capture the day perfectly and really reflected the country feel we tried to create. The candid photos of family and friends laughing during the speeches were wonderful.

I remember being so excited when Louise Adby first got in touch in the summer with a beautiful Cold Harbour Barn wedding – it truly was such a wonderfully romantic English wedding and a perfect fit for our lovely blog! A few months later and I’m more than thrilled to be welcoming lovely Louise as an English Wedding Blog sponsor.

Louise’s photography combines the very best of contemporary fine art style with all the wonderful storytelling of reportage wedding photography. “I love the contrast between raw spontaneous moments set against beautiful composed portraits, but portraits that have feeling and a connection between the couple.

I spend most of the day documenting quietly and sensitively (until we are on the dance floor then I throw myself into the thick of the action) but when it comes to crafting beautiful fine art portraits I give gentle guidance with where and how to stand but keep in mind the personality of the couple so I don’t lose character with a forced pose.”

In the English Wedding Book I mentioned greenery and foliage as one of 2016’s major wedding trends – and the shoots I’m seeing on all the big international wedding blogs are saying the same thing… so I was thrilled when lovely Daniela from Ferri Photography submitted her images from a fabulously beautiful, artistic wedding styled shoot where the luscious leaves took centre stage!

The theme for the shoot is set around the story of a local, Italian, village girl who falls in love with an English boy. After what seems like a lifetime away from each other, today is finally the day they will get married.

In July 2015 I was selected to attended a Fine Art Wedding workshop called a Beautiful Way. The workshop took place at the stunning Almonry Barn in Somerset. Together with 12 other other photographers we spent the day exploring the fine art style of photography, making friends, laughing and eating some amazing food!”

“We weren’t planning a traditional white wedding so didn’t want the typical group photos”,  Robyn told me. It’s something I’d never thought of before: formal group shots are so laden with tradition… but really, is that how we even do photography these days? Perhaps there’s a better alternative for you as well, than the half hour (or more!) of ushers dashing around gathering up relatives to stand in a variety of lines?! (And you can read more about traditions and how to break old fashioned wedding rules in the FREE English Wedding Book, if you haven’t already read it.) But today we’re all about gorgeous couple Robyn & Matt…

This brought tears to my eyes – “When you know, you know. I would have married him in a binbag with no guests and been as proud to be his wife as I am now. Fiona said to me once that “love is as easy as putting socks on” and that is my advice: Marry someone who is easy to love.” ~ Robyn.

I’m so excited to introduce you to someone altogether lovely and super inspirational today:  London wedding photographer Fiona Kelly is joining the English Wedding Blog’s little team of sponsors from today. Fiona – welcome!

Fiona Kelly London wedding photography (16)I have so much to show you: Fiona sent me a gorgeous selection of images to introduce us all to her photography, and I just know you’ll love them to bits. They’re the kind of images which stop me in my tracks: for how beautiful they are, for the lump-in-your-throat kind of moments they capture, and for the stunningly magical locations Fiona just seems to have an instinct for discovering.

Fiona is looking for 2016 weddings in amazing locations:

“I have a few things on my wedding wish list and am happy to work up something special in terms of a photography package for a wedding that matches my wish list.

If you are planning an outdoor wedding somewhere amazingly scenic and beautiful (in a forest, on a mountain top, on a beach, in a flower field, amongst the ruins of a castle, I think you get the idea) then get in touch. I would love to hear from you and help to create some gorgeous images of your wedding day.”

Roz & Tom are gorgeous. Their wedding – a perfect winter’s day – is full of special and very personal touches which make it as unique as it is lovely to look at. Roz made candles for every table (yes: made them!) and I love the scrabble place names they had too.

“I was very sentimental about my jewellery and wore pieces I had been given over the years by my mum, brother and girlfriends rather than buying anything new. I also wore my late grandmother’s diamond engagement ring which is just beautiful!”

When I asked Roz what she thought was the best thing about being married, she told me “Feeling more in love with the person you have chosen to spend the rest of your life with and receiving the first piece of post as Mr and Mrs, so exciting!”. I love the idea of sending a lovely handwritten letter to the new Mr & Mrs… what a wonderful little gift it would make! So here’s an unusual one – a venue which caught my eye as much as it did my imagination. And you know what? I love wedding venues which are different, unique – especially when they’re not dedicated wedding venues.

I’m always asking why wedding venues can’t afford decent chairs: if every restaurant in the land manages to have chairs which don’t need polyester covers, how come our top venues still have dodgy business chairs we have to pay to hide?! It makes me want to hire a proper restaurant instead; somewhere that just looks awesome. Oh! And here’s one…

It’s available to hire on Saturdays and Sundays, and I featured Rosie and Jon’s gorgeous wedding reception there back in 2015.

The first thing I noticed about Hannah was her smile: that beautiful, overjoyed, beaming smile – it’s how every bride should look on her wedding day. She’s stunning.

Add to that her gorgeous groom, the lovely, delicate winter styling with pine cones, the super pretty textured bouquets, the wonderful venue that is Chilston Park, and the superb photos – and I instantly knew I had to share this wedding with you.

Every day this week I’ve been for a lunchtime walk by the beach. Being outside – even feeling sunshine on my face – lifts my heart. It’s kind of amazing that a photograph can do the exact same thing. This is Jo & Sam photographed on their wedding day at Elvey Farm in Kent.

One thing that really marks a wedding for me is the menswear: as a wedding blogger it’s something I look out for even more than the dress. You just know when the guys are wearing something a little more interesting than hired suits, it’s going to be an amazing wedding. Beverley & Jackson – your day is the perfect, gorgeous, brilliant example of the kind of celebration I love!

Real wedding at Gaynes Park with Clare Butler Photography (17)

Today’s stunning bride & groom married at Gaynes Park, Essex. “The venue is so beautiful that it didn’t need much decoration at all. We chose to have some festoon lighting in the barn, which turned out to be a great decision as when we sat down to eat the heavens opened, so the lighting made the room feel cosy and intimate.”

They saved money on flowers: “The biggest saving we made was through our choice of dried flowers. Dried flowers are much cheaper than fresh and it also meant that we could make up the arrangements ourselves.”

Hi lovely! Is it just me or is January flying by?! I’ve had a rush of enquiries for calligraphy, and have a bunch of amazing weddings up my sleeve… and still trying to be good and make it outside for a walk on my beach every lunchtime! (While quietly munching my way through the 48 delicious Caramacs my lovely friend Jamie sent me!)…

Last year I was working to an editorial calendar with the English Wedding Blog, and scheduling feature posts up to a fortnight in advance: they were all written and ready to publish and I was checking in once a week or so… but this year I’m flying by the seat of my pants, getting up at 6:30 every day and writing posts to publish the very same day. It’s kind of more exciting… but I’m working in panic mode a little!
