How did you choose your photographer?
He is experienced at taking photos at Hull Minster
Were you pleased with your wedding photographer? Do tell… we love a brilliant review!
Abraham was ace. He has an eye for a awesome photo and was really creative with scenery. We loved the street scene photos, as well as capturing inside the Minster. As well as the imaginative photos around our local village hall. Abraham was so helpful throughout and really made us feel at ease throughout the whole day.

Tell us about your venue – what made this place special for you?
Hull Minster was where Nicky’s mum and dad got married, so to get married there meant a lot to us both. We then planned our reception at a lovely village hall, in a local village called Swanland. Unexpectedly, we then ended up moving to the village, which made this venue even more special. And we got to walk home too!
Did you love wearing your outfits? How was the dress / suit shopping experience?
We are quite laid back and left it quite late…however we got lucky and got exactly what we wanted! It was a little strange trying on wedding dresses with a mask, but thankfully by the time we got married these were no longer required!
Did you hire a florist? Tell us about any floral amazingness
Nicky made all the flower arrangements herself, including the bouquets and buttonholes (she is a nurse, not a florist, but you wouldn’t have known!)
Did you hire a wedding planner?
We did it all ourselves. With a little (lot) of help from family and friends!
As cake lovers here at English Wedding we’d LOVE to know who made your cake, and how delicious it was?
Again, Nicky made it herself and it was delicious, even if we do say so ourselves. There was a little mishap and by the afternoon half of it ended up on the floor! But we didn’t let it spoil the day and had a good laugh about it. It’s so important to stay relaxed and take everything in your stride and your day will be perfect. Even if your cake ends up on the floor!
Tell us about any special personal touches, or creative projects you made yourselves
The whole day was chosen by us. The choice of having a village hall allowed us to do it our way, from our style of food, the drinks and the centre pieces we had input on it all.
What was your first dance song? Why did you choose it?
One kiss is all it takes -Calvin Harris, acoustic version for the first minute, fading in to the popular version so everyone could join in and get the dancing started. We chose it as it was number one the week of our first date.
How did the pandemic affect your wedding plans? Do you have any advice to share with couples planning their weddings right now?
Thankfully we had no set backs. Chris’s best man lives in Australia so unfortunately couldn’t make it due to travel restrictions. However, he did his best man speech over FaceTime with a microphone held to the phone! (it was 3am in Australia when he was speaking). In some ways this made it even more special and definitely memorable.
