Modern Wedding inspiration from Painswick, Gloucestershire

Published by Claire Gould on

I jumped at the chance to feature this shoot because not only is it beautiful, it feels REAL. Let me explain. Styled photoshoots are a wonderful part of what wedding suppliers do. It’s a chance for creative minds to come together and bring their ideas to life, to inspire couples who are planning their weddings. But sometimes they’re so perfectly posed they feel unattainable, too beautiful. This one though, this made me smile. It’s vibrant and colourful, with simple styling touches and breathtaking florals. The dresses and jumpsuit (because we’ve 3 outfits to show you today!) are stunning – and model Dani wears them like the most joyful bride in the world. Her natural smile lights up these pages, and I’m absolutely thrilled to be sharing this gorgeously achievable wedding inspiration with you today. Huge thanks to lovely Maddy from Wedding Paint for sharing this with us. The images are by talented local wedding photographer Sophie TC Photography, who introduces the shoot and styling touches below, explaining how it all came about. If history matters to you, then this shoot will excite you.

This is the Court House Manor in Painswick. Nestled in the beautiful Cotswold countryside surrounded by rolling hills and stunning views, the Court House Manor bursts with history, beauty and elegance.

The very bones of this property date back to the 17th century. Even King Charles I stayed at the Court House as he battled through Painswick prior to the Siege of Gloucester in 1643, and used the Court Room to administer justice to wrongdoers. There are so many hidden corners and incredible stories in this property, it’s hard to list every single one.
What better venue than this to mix a modern touch with? That is exactly what Maddy from Wedding Paint set out to do in the Summer of 2021. Maddy is not only a brilliantly talented and experienced hair and make-up artist but has a passion for styling and was the vision behind this shoot. The aim was to bring along local suppliers to showcase the very best of the Cotswolds. We wanted to incorporate as much of the history of this stunning venue as possible. Two outfits, two arches, multiple pieces of jewellery, two flower styles and a lot of windows.

For a long time now, I’ve wanted to get a shoot at courthouse manor. As we live in the Cotswolds and because I am somewhat an artist. I wanted a different theme, a local edge, bright colours and bespoke arts. Having local suppliers matters to me as it means we can spur and cheer each other on. As the court house is both rammed full of history and different cultural eras. It was important to bring it all to life and together. As a makeup artist of over 25yrs and in the wedding industry for nearly 10. My imagination goes wild and I like to use elements of trend and my experience of working on 450 weddings.

Sophie from Sophie TC Photography is a Gloucestershire Wedding Photographer who captures the memories of your day through vibrant, bright and natural photography.

It was a wonderful shoot and amazing to work with so many talented and unique suppliers from the local area. I had the best job of the day photographing all their amazing work. I would highly recommend using each and every single one of them. The Cotswold country vibes were everywhere throughout the shoot. This venue is also a wedding photographer’s dream venue! Literally every part of this place is gorgeous and perfect for a couples shot or fun group shots on your day. It’s stunning!

The gorgeous Dani was our model for the day. She is a bride to be herself and is getting married next June.

I had a lovely time modelling, it was very fun to try on the dresses and get glammed up as it gave me inspiration for my own wedding happening next year. It was amazing working with Sophie as we are great friends and makes me feel so comfortable in front of the camera. She is a blast to work with!

We wanted a real modern twist for our bridal look so we had two completely different outfits for our bride to try. Firstly, we went with a jumpsuit – you can’t get more modern than this! Next, we went for the most stunning dress for E&W Couture. Safe to say we all wanted to try on this dress! A really twist on a modern dress with tonnes of sparkle and glamour. The way the dress flowed beautifully and the glitter caught the light was stunning. To pair with our gorgeous gowns we teamed up with Gemma Sutton for some fabulous hair pieces. Each piece is stunning and can fit any brides needs. Gemma is a make-up and hair designer so knows exactly what every bride wants when it comes to hair accessories.

Bright, gorgeous and loose flowers creating the bridal bouquet, table pieces and stunning flower arch from Demelza at the Unwalled Garden added a stunning pop of colour to the shoot. Arches like these are not only a beautiful sight to behold but also can be used for multiple features on your day. Entrances for guest, where you get married and couples’ portraits later on. We loved using it multiple times on the shoot.

Meadow boxes created by Imogen at Saltbox and Co. added to the already stunning floral design to add a new element and twist on the day. Paired with the LOVE letters and macramé to add that extra level of sophistication and beauty to the shoot or your wedding day. These boxes were also incredibly easy to move around making them the perfect fit for your day as you could use them anywhere you like throughout the day – just like we did on the shoot!

Talking of floristry and macramé. The amazing macramé was a hand made piece made by the incredible Jodie at Wild Meadow Weddings. Not only did she make this stunning backdrop macramé piece but she also specialises in venue styling for environmentally conscious couples. Stunning and sustainable all in one – who could ask for more!

Not forgetting our other element of the light up letters. A must have for any 2021 or 2022 couple! Charlotte is the lady to go to for all things letters that light up. She runs the amazing family run business of Alana’s love, specialising in all light up LOVE, MR & MRS and even initials for every couple. These really are a show stopper at any wedding and Charlotte is a wonderful lady to work with.

The stunning jewellery was all designed and made by Hannah Kimber. The selection of different styles and colours was simply gorgeous and stunning. Each piece is lovingly created and designed to perfection in every way. Hannah is an incredibly talented designer and lovely lady!

The absolutely stunning tablescape was created by the lovely Amanda from Vintage Gold China. Classic candles with a modern twist of colours mixed with stunning floral arrangements by Demelza from The Unwalled Garden created the perfect Cotswold scape – perfection in every way.

“As a wedding supplier of table top items and decor it is rare that I get to meet and interact with other suppliers ‘on a wedding day’. It was a real treat to spend time and meet the faces behind the names. Thanks to the gorgeous, steeped in history, 16th century venue, the team created many stunning photo opportunities.”

The stationery on each plate was lovely created and hand made by Meryl at Blackbird and Blossom. That’s right it is all hand written.

“When I got the memo that the colours for this wedding were focused around sage green, I jumped at the chance to create the wedding stationery. Calligraphy can add that personalised touch to a wedding and make sure even the smallest of details are beautifully curated! I’ve been a calligrapher for several years now and each wedding or commissioned piece I make brings me a lot of joy to see when it all comes together with all the other brilliant suppliers to make the couples magical day perfect!”

Now on to that food. Starting with the amazing cake lovingly made by Cake Box using seasonal and local ingredients. That delicious looking graze platter was lovingly created by Wild and Brie. Not only was it stunning to look at but it tastes lovely too. The perfect addition to any Wedding buffet table.

“As a small independent company, it was exciting to be given the opportunity to work with so many other inspiring women. We were overwhelmed at how incredible everything looked when it came together…and how stunning of a theme! It certainly gave us a lot of inspiration for our own future weddings! We’re honoured to be associated with such a wonderful group of creative suppliers.”
