Chic city wedding from the Millennium Gloucester Hotel with Patryk Stanisz Photography (22)

London wedding photographer Patryk told me Joanna and Mitesh’s wedding had an amazing atmosphere throughout the entire day. “They are a very happy couple and guests came from all over the world to share their beautiful wedding ceremony, which was at the Millennium Gloucester Hotel.

The ONLY wedding theme which has been constantly popular since this blog was born in 2009 (we’re six!! who knew?!) is English Country Garden. I love that we’re so smitten with flowers, with nature, with the beauty of our gardens and countryside… and today’s styled inspiration shoot pays tribute to this, the loveliest wedding theme of all.

This summer has been wonderful already. I’ve written for some amazing couples, worked on fabulous projects for wedding signage and stationery, and designed calligraphy suites for some of my favourite photographers. Tomorrow I’m teaching a calligraphy workshop in Manchester and we have another (booking up fast!) on the 19th of August. If you’d like to come along, you can book places in my Etsy shop now. But first… a few little notes about using calligraphy for your wedding day.

I absolutely must share some of Alice & Matt’s advice with you before we see their fabulous images. With every real wedding feature I always ask my brides and grooms to complete a little interview for the blog, and theirs is one of the very best I’ve ever received. The advice for you lovely lot is superb:

What’s the best thing about being married?

The knowledge that we have made a life long commitment to each other has further strengthened our relationship.
The comfort in knowing you are loved and loved back.
You’ve married your best friend.
Seeing the ring on his finger, and knowing I put it there, gives me butterflies every time.

“Your wedding ceremony should be the most important aspect of your wedding day. It’s the part that really matters, the reason you and your guests are all there and the reason for the reception afterwards – to celebrate what happened in that ceremony.”

In reality, it is the part of the wedding day that is most often overlooked and more time spent on décor and entertainment than the words you’ll say to each other when you actually get married. I get it. It’s not the fun part and because of the rules around what words have to be said/can’t be said when using a registrar, there’s often not a great deal to decide on anyway other than some music and a couple of readings, right?
