Hi everyone! Have you spotted the new colour theme on English Wedding Blog? I’ve tweaked a few things so titles and sidebars on the blog look a bit more subtle and pretty – but not too girly. What do you think? I have more changes up my sleeves* so stick around or subscribe to see more new and exciting things on the blog very soon! Today though, I’m introducing a new sponsor of the English Wedding Blog, and the first of its kind – Ware Priory wedding venue in Hertfordshire.

*and yes, as I type it’s sleeve weather once again in the Lake District. Can’t complain as we’ve had such gorgeous sunshine for weeks 🙂

Every now and then I’m lost for words when I try and introduce a wedding on the blog. Today I’m dumbstruck! I’ve just read through Kate and Jamal’s wedding report and scrolled through their gorgeous images – too many to choose from! Already I’m overexcited about showing you their English Asian wedding blog. This is Kate – isn’t she beautiful?

Vibrant English Asian wedding blog Pixies in the Cellar (1)

As with all Asian weddings there’s more exciting colour than the average vintage wedding, so it leaves me grinning happily at the prospect of showing you photos! The venues are sublime and add timeless atmosphere and contemporary chic to the story of Kate and Jamal’s day. Their wedding report is amazing – I love the bit about Jamal’s niece’s infectious belly laughs during the speeches… watch out for it!

It’s the images which leave a fabulous aftertaste for me though – the elegance of the wedding styling, the vibrance of the colours and the breathtaking venues. I just know you’re going to love this wedding blog. Huge thanks to lovely Peter and Sara from Pixies in the Cellar for submitting their images, and massive hugs and congratulations to beautiful bride Kate and gorgeous groom Jamal for the wedding report. Just brilliant, all of it… enjoy! Claire x

Hands up who really knows what reportage wedding photography means? It’s a phrase I hear all the time as a wedding blogger, but I see photographers using the term in different ways and it all gets confusing. This morning I couldn’t have explained what was meant by reportage, photojournalistic or documentary wedding photography. Can you?

Give it five minutes and you will 🙂

Most importantly of all, can you see the difference between an ‘action snapshot’ and good reportage photography?

Read this and you will 🙂

What exactly is reportage wedding photography?

My friend and sponsor of the English Wedding Blog, Andrew from Lightworks Photography Cambridge, has written a lovely article all about reportage photography. He explains clearly and engagingly what you should be looking for, and the mistakes a less experienced photographer will make.

It’s an article guaranteed to make you smile too. I’m half tempted to phone Andrew up just to hear his Franglais… imagining Joey from Friends – remember that? Definitely worth a read on Andrew’s blog. Enjoy!

Hi everyone! Can I share a little of my lifestyle with you this morning? Picture yourself walking with me along the beach path near my house, listening to the waves and smelling the flowers before popping into the craft bakery on the seafront for a cupcake and a coffee… beautiful isn’t it?!

The two themes of countryside and vintage often tangle and twist together to create the most wonderful wedding styling. There’s something amusingly accurate in this: step into the local village hall for any kind of fayre or event and it really is like stepping back in time! It’s a good job we have wedding blogs to show how gorgeous ‘vintage’ styling can look…

This is part three in a trilogy of inspirational wedding shoots from my lovely friend and sponsor Alix from Lumiere Photography, and Val from Benessamy Events. Hello everyone! Are you sitting comfortably? I’ve been looking forward to showing you the photos of Laura and Peter’s very pretty vintage wedding from May. There are plenty of special touches and ideas which I know you’ll love, and I think Laura and Peter’s wedding report is pretty inspiring as well. pretty vintage wedding by Linus Moran Photography (1)

Best bits for me, in a nutshell, are the gorgeous bride and handsome groom (of course!) and the pretty details – lovely flowers and dinky jam jars with cute labels. I also love the pictures of the game of football in evening sunlight. (Top tip for ushers: take a ball or two to the wedding just in case!) And I would love to hear your comments for Laura and Peter at the end of today’s feature. What do you make of their choreographed dance? The guests who were stood on chairs and tables watching seem to love it!pretty vintage wedding by Linus Moran Photography (2)

Huge thanks to lovely Linus Moran Photography for the images. Please scroll down to see recommended wedding suppliers and read all about today’s pretty vintage wedding on the blog – I love it and I hope you will too! Claire x

Morning everyone! If you’re a regular reader of the blog you’ll know that good photography is really important to me – as with most top UK wedding blog editors. I see all kinds of wedding photos including some fairly dodgy ones with everything from red-eye to weird flash effects and uncomfortable crops. So this survey piqued my interest and I had to share it with you. I’d love to know what you think. Is wedding photography as important as your wedding dress? Claire x

A recent survey* has found that over 51% of brides stated that the most important element of their wedding day was their dress – showing that how a girl looks on her special day is her number one priority.

However, are brides at risk of looking great on the day but stowing their dodgy wedding album away with the Christmas decorations or under the bed?

I can’t really beat Kayleigh’s quote as an introduction to today’s real wedding blog! The happiest day ever is just what everyone dreams their wedding will be – and honestly, from all the comments I hear from you lovely blog readers, it usually turns out to be pretty damn perfect!

Dodford Manor wedding blog Aaron Collett Photography (1)

Kayleigh and Will were married at Dodford Manor in March. They had an intimate wedding with a relaxed and natural atmosphere. Dodford Manor is a converted barn (in Northamptonshire) which needs little decoration, and is one of those enchanting English wedding venues you can fall in love with from the photographs alone!

Kayleigh, Will – thank you ever so much for sharing, and huge congratulations to you both. You’re a gorgeous couple and just look so happy together you had me smiling all the way through your wedding images! Credit for those goes to the lovely Aaron Collett Photography. Hi again lovely people! I have a treat in store for you all this morning – a 1950s inspired Cambridgeshire wedding with VW Campervan, wildflowers, cupcakes and 7 tiers of cheese, awesome dance moves and the proudest dad… you’re going to love this!

Vintage Cambridgeshire wedding blog Paul Rogers Photography (1)

Kirsten and Neal were inspired to create a vintage wedding with pale pink and blue details. Kirsten’s ankle length Ian Stuart gown (is there nothing this man can’t do to perfection, I ask you?!) is divine! And Neal looks pretty damn good in his tailor made suit by A Suit That Fits – let’s just say the pair of them are amazing together!

Vintage Cambridgeshire wedding blog Paul Rogers Photography (2)

The wedding was at Madingley Hall, just four miles from the centre of Cambridge and a magnificent venue – Wikipedia tells me it’s a former royal residence and dates back to the 16th century – the photographs are fabulous and will show you so much more of this impressive English wedding venue. Huge thanks go to London wedding photographer Paul Rogers for submitting such a brilliant wedding to share with us all today! I hope you love it as much as I do. Everyone – enjoy. Claire x

Nope. It’s not just me, is it? There are so many wedding industry awards going on that it all gets a bit… meh. It started with the Wrapit awards (that ended well, didn’t it – when the organisers went bust in 2008 leaving thousands of couples heartbroken). Then we had glitzy wedding magazine awards ceremonies and everyone jumped on the bandwagon. Along came more ethical awards, but then we all had to pay for them so they weren’t as ethical after all. Now it’s the turn of big events companies to branch out and try and send us to sleep a wee bit more. Marvellous.

I’ve had a couple of emails now from a business called Creative Oceanic, who are the organisers of The English Wedding Awards (no relation, I promise!). They specialise in event production and are behind lots of other awards events including the Scottish Wedding Awards and What’s On Awards across the UK.
