Modern blue styling ideas with calligraphy for an alternative beach wedding (6)

Last summer I styled an editorial photoshoot very close to home – as many of you know, I live on the edge of the Lake District and within minutes’ walk of the beach. When lovely Sheryl from Oobaloos Photography suggested we do a photoshoot here, I just couldn’t say no. I’m a huge believer in letting your surroundings influence the style of your day, and my choice of suppliers to take part in the shoot was inspired by the wild beaches of south Cumbria – my favourite place in the world.

Previously featured on Love My Dress blog (thank you lovely Annabel!), this shoot was designed to show you how to incorporate simple touches inspired by waves and the sea into your wedding day. We styled a simple table with fabrics, foliage and calligraphy in lush blues and golds, with glassware from lovely Narrative Hire.

If you love where you live, why not incorporate the essence of the place into your wedding day? You really can get married wherever you’d like nowadays – with the help of a celebrant you can say your vows on the beach, on a mountain top, on a boat, a lake… pretty much anywhere. I’m one of those lucky creatives who live close to the Lake District – and today’s blog post is all about bringing the spirit of a place into your wedding styling.

Previously featured on Love My Dress blog (thank you lovely Annabel!), this shoot was styled and brought to life by me! Sheryl from Oobaloos Photography came to stay, I asked a few more of my favourite suppliers from around the UK to help out, and I’m thrilled to say they did – and all brought their A game on the day!

There’s more than one reason we’re supporting the Chosen Wedding Fairs this year – of course our very own Facebook page editor Claire has taken over the running of the fair, and this has given us the wonderful opportunity to shout about it from the rooftops… but there are so many fabulously creative suppliers involved whose work we’ve featured on the English Wedding Blog before, this is pretty much our dream wedding fair!

Styled shoots – which we’ll always love to bits – are the reason so many of these guys have featured on our pages. If their name is in bold on the list below, they’ve starred on the blog, we know them by reputation and LOVE what they do!

Clare Lloyd hair accessories on the English Wedding Blog (41)

Back in July my postman arrived with the best little box of goodies I think he’s ever brought me. I was in the midst of planning a photoshoot, and had nervously contacted a handful of my favourite wedding creatives to see if they’d like to get involved. Every single yes meant an indrawn breath and a silent squeal of excitement. But when Clare Lloyd said she’d send me some of her work I was thrilled.

Clare’s pieces are exquisitely crafted. They’re breathtakingly beautiful – I can’t even begin to imagine how much time and hard work goes into creating each accessory. Each one must surely take weeks to create – and they’re flawless, simply perfect in every way.

Just holding one of Clare Lloyd’s bridal hair adornments is a treat. (Holding them against my blue hair and pretending to wear them was one of my favourite five minutes, ever! I didn’t dare wear them!) Unpacking that box from the postman had me completely lost for words – and I want you to share the experience!

I adore today’s shoot, which really celebrates the end of summer… the details and styling are beautiful and I love the setting: a gorgeous ‘working’ greenhouse full of life and growing things. Perfect for the beginning of your new life together, don’t you think?

Every little detail works so beautifully in this shoot: from the abundant florals to the gorgeous hair accessories by one of my fave designers, lovely Clare at Vintage Button Bridal Designs. The stationery is elegant and timeless, the cake sweet as can be. It all makes me feel as though summer is a neverending adventure!

I wanted to create a styled shoot with a real English Summer feel that was natural, fresh and delicate. From watercolour stationery to blue & white china (my mums!) to soft flowing bridal hair and the most delicate handmade hair accessories.

Clare Lloyd designs and makes beautiful, intricate bridal accessories, hair adornments and jewellery in Frome, Somerset.  She’s been making jewellery and bridal accessories for several years now and this is the first time she’s organised her own styled shoot.

My vision for the shoot was to mix the timeless, classy feel of old school Hollywood elegance with fine art style photography and incorporate current trends of lots of greenery, foraged foliage and wild bouquets with antique lace, tulle, soft muted colour and modern calligraphy.
