So many of our brides and grooms on the blog say the best thing about their wedding was having everyone they loved all in one place at the same time: it’s a once-in-a-lifetime scenario and should be treasured! In Chris and Arabella’s case, the temptation to do what friends do when they get together was too much: Chris is a climber, and his friends arrived… so, rocks!!!

That was the morning of the wedding, and luckily our fabulous friends from York Place Studios went along to capture the action (literally). I guess there aren’t so many wedding photographers who’d do this quite so brilliantly – and that’s what makes Dom & Liam (the funnest sister & brother wedding photographer combination you’ll ever come across!) absolutely perfect for today’s wedding. They’re based in Yorkshire and photograph weddings throughout the UK, as well as destination weddings. Their documentary style of wedding photography always reminds me that weddings are about people, emotions, interactions between your loved ones – and those are the moments you’ll look back on (through your wedding album) and LOVE to bits in years to come.

Today’s wedding is an elegant and classy affair; mixing traditional styling with a modern twist at one al styling with a modern twist at one of Yorkshire’s favourite wedding venues:  The Mansion at Leeds Roundhay Park. Gorgeous couple Kat and Vincent were lucky to have a beautiful summer’s day for their wedding, and really made the most of the grounds of the park for their wedding photos.

Images are by York wedding photographer Amy Jordison, who gets a glowing review from the couple in their English Wedding Interview below! Watch out for a stunning Essense of Australia dress (from Ava Rose Hamilton), fabulous florals by NC Floral Designs and that wonderful cake from Zoe’s Fancy Cakes.

We posted a request for photographers on Bidvine.com. Of those that came back, we met those that seemed a good fit and then made a final decision based on various factors like portfolio, experience, location and rapport – the latter being important because they needed to be able to get on not just with us, but all the guests they’d be having to wrangle on the day.

A black tie wedding… the most amazing boho dress covered in delicate sparkles… and more fun and laughter and PARTYING than you’d think you could fit into one day. This wedding – as they always are when our friends and sponsors at York Place Studios are involved – is an absolute blast of beautiful and playful, and I LOVE it.

The Normans venue is a charming, rustic space on a working farm just outside York. Covered in twinkling fairy lights, it’s welcoming and picture perfect inside and out. The courtyard is wonderful on a sunny day, and as evening sets guests can relax in the cow shed (snug) or grain shed (ultimate party space!) – take a look at http://thenormansweddings.co.uk

We cannot thank you enough, we have been screeching with laughter, I can only imagine what you guys witnessed that night!

We just love all these photos so much, we couldn’t have asked for anything more. They are the perfect end to an amazing year, and they are exactly how we wanted the wedding captured!

You can’t beat a wedding with a really fun story. Lovely Jade and Carl invited all of their guests to their children’s christening – and surprised them with an extra: they got MARRIED!! It makes the photos of the beginning of the day even more special, knowing that for most of the guests, the whole thing was a secret surprise!

Images are by lovely Fiona at Anoif Photography, who gets a fabulous review from Jade and Carl in their interview (at the end of the blog post). Photography was the couple’s biggest spend, and one they’re very glad of – for while this was very much a DIY wedding on a budget, the images will last a lifetime and I love the piece of family history they’ve captured for our lovely bride and groom!

Good morning beautiful! If you like flowers this is for YOU! Gorgeous, fun couple Steph and Rob’s beautifully relaxed Yorkshire wedding day was in two contrasting halves… with a city centre ceremony followed by a countryside reception full to the brim with country summer blooms! They chose a relaxed, vintage theme full of stunning summer flowers with such a gorgeous palette of colours – they’re perfect, and I just love everything about this wedding!

The Fleece Countryside Inn is gorgeous and didn’t need much to look incredible but we did have the help of the amazing Stems Design who did the majority of the styling and Set The Scene venue stylist who provided the table cloths and beautiful lace chair covers. The room looked incredible and I was blown away when I saw it for the first time – floral wonderland!

Hey there lovely! How are you getting on with the first week in April? It’s all lambs up here in the Lakes at the moment – they’re everywhere, and they’re SO cute!! I’m managing a pre-blogging walk in the countryside every morning, and loving it! So how’ve you enjoyed the blog so far this week? We began with Rachel & Steve’s gorgeous Iscoyd Park wedding, and yesterday was all about the florals at Almonry Barn… so today I thought a wonderfully warm autumn wedding would be a bit of a treat! Rob & Hannah were married at Wharfedale Grange, Yorkshire, in its very first year – it was still being built when they went to visit, but they trusted in the owner’s vision for this lovely venue, and Wharfedale turned out to be the perfect venue for their best day ever.

Amanda was recommended by friends, they got married in the June before we did in the November. I was a bridesmaid at the wedding so it was great to see Amanda in action on the day and get comfortable with her before our wedding.

Two things I love more than anything today: brides in red, and grooms doing wedding interviews. So boy am I happy to be sharing this beauty of an “East meets West” wedding full of gorgeousness and vibrant colours and fabulous florals… and I just know you’ll love it too! Siren is stunning in a traditional Chinese wedding dress (and her evening dress in a lush dark green is just fabulous) – and lovely husband Greg’s response to my “did you fall in love with your wedding dress” question [below] filled me with happy chuckling [he totally means yes btw!] Images are by English Wedding member and super Yorkshire wedding photographer Stevie Jay Photography. Have a wonderful Sunday everyone!

A friend of mine recommended Stevie to me while I was researching photographers in the run-up to the wedding. Both my wife and I really liked the way she was able to capture the atmosphere of moments in a natural way and found her style to be the best fit for what we wanted.

Becky and Dan’s vintage DIY wedding is perfect, gloriously happy and colourful, and just seems so full of character and fun! Becky describes their day as “Completely DIY and disorganised! Perfect for us!” – and I love it. They tied the knot in church, then had afternoon tea in the scout hut next door and their evening reception was on the local bowling green! The gorgeous pics by Yorkshire wedding photographer Stevie Jay capture the spirit of their day brilliantly – what a fabulous, eclectic and fun couple! Congrats guys, you ROCK!

Stevie was recommended by a friend who is a professional photographer.

Stevie was amazing, we said it was like having a friend there from wedding prep to the evening do. The photos were incredible. I’m not the most confident with photos and I was anxious about seeing them but she captured our emotions perfectly.

The first time we saw our wedding photos we were sat on the sofa together with a bottle of bubbly and I cried!

Time doesn’t stand still at weddings. Wedding blogs and magazines full of photos give the impression that a wedding is a series of amazing moments, stepping from one to another with a ‘click’, ‘click’ of a camera shutter at every step along the way. But the brides and grooms on English Wedding tell me – almost every time – that the day goes by SO FAST – it’s a sprint, a story which keeps on running like a fast-paced movie. There can be moments where ten things happen in the flash of an eye; and moments of stillness too.

Why am I saying all this? Because today’s wedding from York Place Studios really brings it to mind. Rebecca and John’s wedding photos tell more than their story: they tell the story of everyone at their wedding – the joy and tears of the adorable children in their family. The excitement of their dogs as they get to play with so many brilliant people! The preparations in the morning, the ceremony, the reception and the dancing. I don’t doubt it felt as though this fabulous day was over in a second. But I know I could spend hours flicking through the wonderful photos, and seeing more moments to make me smile every time!

A LOT goes on at weddings. They’re magical, romantic… and the busiest days of our lives! With everyone we know all in one place, a schedule to be kept and plans to be followed, it’s no wonder the day goes by in a blur. The top piece of advice couples give in their English Wedding interviews is to take a moment to stop and take it all in, because everything happens in such a rush!

And that’s where photographers come in. The best will capture the moments you missed as well as those you’ll want to cherish forever. York Place Studios get this – and they are uniquely talented in the way they do it. I love how every image tells not just one story, but many. Grab a cuppa and scroll through Sara and Sam’s day slowly, because I promise you’ll chuckle at times, love the romance and all of those precious little interactions between guests which are what really make a wedding.

Relaxed and informal modern wedding in Leeds with Anna wood Photography (13)
FEATURED

You can hire a country manor, fill it with flowers and spend countless weeks cutting and pasting designs for your invites and table plan… but wedding blogs are here to show you you don’t have to do any of that. You can create a brilliantly amazing and memorable wedding your guests will love without all the bits people expect – just like gorgeous bride and groom Diane and Michael did. I love how they describe their day – the focus was on brilliant food and drink, making sure their guests were looked after, and choosing 3 fabulous venues for their ceremony, reception and evening party. I love it: the whole day looks and sounds just perfect – a wedding blogger’s dream!

We contacted Anna after seeing her ad on Facebook and we were not disappointed. Our first meeting was more like having a friend round for a brew than a meeting where We chatted about the day itself but really got to know more about each other. Advice we’d been given was to choose someone you get along with as your photographer as you spend a lot of time with them and Anna was so warm and genuinely excited by our wedding, she was the clear choice for us to share our day with.

We’re all about the elegant styling and simple venue and table decor today on the English Wedding Blog! This is a beautiful wedding – I love Lisa’s dress, the flowers… and that summery sunshine at the end of the day is simply perfect! Lisa and George chose Rudding Park as their wedding venue, and Alfred and Co Photography to capture their day. Flowers are simple white roses with gorgeous foliage from Flowers by Colette in Harrogate.

We were recommended Kirsty by a friend, who used her the year before. After looking through their pictures, our mind was made up that we would like Kirsty to shoot our wedding.

Alfred & Co Photography at Rudding Park (2)

We were very pleased with Kirsty from the very first point of contact with her. Not only is she a fantastic photographer, she also is very easy to deal with, and is very helpful with any questions or issues we had. When we saw our wedding photos for the first time we were thrilled, neither of us really like having our photo taken, but we both loved them. She captured so many natural moments, and that’s what made us delighted to have chosen her.
