Sam and Chloe’s beautiful, rustic Thirsk Barn wedding, with Joss Denham Photography

Some weddings are absolutely worth the wait, but even so, I’ve been scrambling to share this stunning day with you! It’s been a busy morning for English Wedding: we’ve just supercharged the website with some major updates and I am SO excited for the year ahead. That said: does it really get any better than this?! Gorgeous Chloe and Sam’s wedding has everything. The dark green styling touches for late summer. That DRESS!! And I’m so in love with the amazing florals, perfect venue and their SUPERB images – they’re by one of our faves, North Yorkshire wedding photographer Joss Denham!
Wedding photographer review#
Gorgeous. Everything we wanted. Captured so many amazing moments.
Joss was so lovely on the day and professional, great photos and very knowledgeable. Put ourselves and our wedding party at ease.
Our top tip for a future couple getting married: Book Joss. And also don’t worry about all the little things of planning, it really doesn’t matter on the day. The day goes so quickly . Focus on what you and your partner want and ignore family and friends when they start to give opinions on what they think you should have, it will stress you out more if you try and please everyone!

Advice for other couples#
Make sure your guests have a great time by providing good booze, good food and good tunes.
Invest in food and your wedding photographer / videographer!
Don’t go over the top with anything and don’t underestimate how much guests love heart shaped sunglasses and foam glow sticks for the dance floor!

for ceremony and reception. It was gorgeous. Staff were amazing all the way throughout the wedding planning and on the day, everything ran so smoothly and would definitely recommend to anyone.
Wedding outfits#
I saw the dress online and thought it looked stunning on the model. I found a stockist near me and was told to pick 5 dresses I wanted to try, she asked me if I was to get married that night which dress would I choose. I chose the one I saw online, the one I felt I was set on from the start. When I tried it on I just knew that was the one and knew that Sam would love it. It was a slim fitting dress, long train, corset body and had detachable sleeves. I chose a veil embellished with pearls and it pairs so well with the simple ivory dress.

Florist name + review#
– Sam’s old school friend! They were the style we wanted, wildflower looking, bouquets not too structured. Colours were whites and peachy pinks.
Cake maker name + review#
My mum made it! She used to make cakes for birthdays and special occasions and used to do cake decorating classes back in the day. We had to have Victoria sponge as it was Sam’s favourite. We also had my sister make carrot cake cupcakes as well!
Special styling touches#
We picked a dark sage green as the colour theme as we thought it wouldn’t be too autumnal but not too summery either. We wanted a very rustic look as the barn was so beautiful we wanted everything to fit together perfectly.

. LOVED. we had them for the wedding breakfast and the evening food. Really tasty bbq food and loaded fries, everything you need to line your stomach for a heavy night of drinking!
