A fabulous tipi celebration in the height of summer. A gorgeous, relaxed and head-over-heels in love couple. Rustic styling, tons of florals, vibrant colours and a party atmosphere. It really doesn’t get much better than this! Howard and Rowena’s wedding venue was the village field in Iwerne Minster, the village where Rowena’s mother lives. By day the field is a football pitch and on a sunny day in August it was transformed with the addition of tipis into their wedding venue! I hope you love this one as much as I do. Huge thanks to Rowena and Howard, and to our fabulous friend and Dorset wedding photographer Robin Goodlad Photography. Do read the groom’s interview below – the story of their day is fantastic! Today’s wedding is another treat; a beautiful celebration with stunning florals and styling – but most importantly for me, with a brilliant sense of humour and some amazingly fun moments. Sarah and Michael were married at Mapperton House in Dorset, and opted for a vibrant colour palette and gorgeous styling touches. The bouquet is a stunner: orange tones and corals alongside blues with roses and dahlia blooms, cornflowers and agapanthus, freesias (I think!) and sweet peas.
Sarah and Michael’s colour palette was cobalt blue and orange – because, in Sarah’s own words, “my engagement ring has a sapphire and my husband and my family are ginger. Therefore, my shoes were cobalt blue jiving shoes, as we love to jive. I also had sapphire earrings to match my ring and a pearl necklace that was my grandma’s who unfortunately passed away when I was young. I also had a beautiful hair piece which matched my hair and the pearls of the necklace.”

How is your week going? Do you have sunshine? It’s been beautiful here… I think spring is my favourite season of all when it’s like this! I could almost be on my laptop in the garden right now!
We’ve had a week of beautiful weddings and features, and today’s is a real favourite: the relaxed and elegant styling is fabulous; Lucy & James are gorgeous and their day looks so much fun. It’s all beautifully captured by our friend and outstanding Dorset wedding photographer Robin Goodlad Photography.
Lucy’s Alice Temperley gown takes my breath away. The delicate embroidery and soft, swishing fabric of that fabulous skirt make this a true dream dress!
Having a boho / rustic wedding can still involve lots of styling and creative projects, and I fell head over heels for all the foliage in Lucy & James’s marquee – they made hazel frames running along all the tables and hung hops and other foliage from it – it looks fabulous. Even the bar is covered in hops! I love it!
I LOVE that we’ve been able to tell you about some wonderfully creative and sustainable / ethical wedding suppliers on the blog this week. If you missed Thursday’s blog do take a peek at the beautiful Sanyukta Shrestha dresses we featured here. Today I’m really excited to share a wedding style photoshoot from a group of like-minded Dorset wedding suppliers who came together to create a sustainable and eco-friendly wedding look.
The photographers are lovely Kiss In Light, who are based in the New Forest. They have made changes in their home and work lives (taking up yoga, living as ethical and eco-friendly a lifestyle as possible, and bringing sustainability into the core of their business and ethos) over the last year, and this inspired the photoshoot: they wanted to show all of you lovely couples how beautiful a sustainable wedding style can be! So with the images we’re brining you today we want to bring you a little spark, a glimmer of inspiration to help you create your own ethical and sustainable wedding.
Today’s gorgeous couple chose an outstanding venue for their wedding weekend, styling their day with help from friends and family and choosing their suppliers carefully to create an amazing wedding day. Our lovely friend and Dorset wedding photographer Linus Moran Photography was at West Axnoller Farm to capture the day from beginning to end, and his photos are just wonderful. Michelle’s dress is stunning, and her review of bridal boutique The Wedding Dress Dorset makes me want to sing their praises from the rafters! This is a fabulous, elegant and classic spring wedding and I do hope you love it as much as I do.

How did you choose your photographer?
We first met Linus at Kingston Mauward wedding fair and then researched his work on his website. We got a range of prices from small independent photographers and larger businesses, but we wanted a photographer with a less formal style who focused more on taking un-posed photos as they happened, as well as having the opportunity to film the day. We also thought his films really captured the emotions of the day and that’s what sealed the deal for us.
It’s more than wonderful to see a gorgeous bridal bouquet given the attention it deserves – and Dorset photographer Robin Goodlad captures this beauty like a pro! Beautiful Martine and Nick’s wedding day is full of visual treats, glamorous styling and thoughtful details – Martine is stunning and Nick looks gorgeous – but these two little faces almost steal the show… aren’t they ADORABLE?!!
Martine is SUCH a beautiful bride, and chose a lace dress with a gorgeous and delicate neckline – the beading and detail of the dress is just stunning. A simple pearl pendant and softly curled undo completed her bridal style. The flowers are divine, with roses and peonies, mint and ferns – and floral styling around the venue with more roses, rosemary and plenty of foliage for a modern and textured look.
Are you having a lovely, cosy, lazy Sunday? I’m covered in paint and supping hot chocolate… we’re painting our living room white and it’s looking like a whole new house, but oh my arms are sore! So I thought… time for a little treat on English Wedding. I am SO LUCKY to know such amazing wedding photographers all around the UK. The very best are English Wedding members, whose weddings I’m excited to share on the blog regularly… and I couldn’t be happier to tell you that Dorset photographer Robin Goodlad has joined us this month! Robin’s images are absolutely beautiful – but I will hand over to the man himself to tell you all about his documentary wedding photography, and his approach to capturing your day. Robin – welcome!
“You write the script, I’ll tell the story, has always been my philosophy with wedding photography. I believe weddings should be photographed subtly, and quietly, with observation of the key moments and pure emotion through the day, rather than creating moments that didn’t really happen. This way, the complete collection of photographs you receive really reflects you as a couple.
Hey lovelies! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. Who else dug out their favourite jumpers this weekend? I’m loving feeling all snuggly in mine today!! We have a lovely week ahead on English Wedding with some gorgeous real weddings lined up, a stunning dress feature and expert tips on floral styling for barn weddings… but first, let’s start the week with something truly beautiful. Richard and Claire married at The Italian Villa in Poole last October. Claire looks super cute in her lovely Galina Couture gown which has to be one of the most amazing dresses we’ve ever seen on the blog! WOW!! The wedding is full of smiles and gorgeous styling which I hope you’ll love as much as I do!
Kim Robbins of Signature Flowers https://www.signature-flowers.com put together our bouquets, button holes, a corsage for my mum and a stunning flower arch. She was great, and happily helped with our (very) last minute requests!
Happy Monday lovelies! Just a handful of days to go now until my next calligraphy class in Manchester so it’s a crazy busy week here at English Wedding HQ! Today though, I have the most beautiful celebration to share with you – Lucy & Tim’s gorgeous wedding at 10 Castle Street, an exclusive country house venue in Dorset. Lucy’s Halfpenny London dress is just fabulous, and I love the atmosphere of the day which just comes across wonderfully well in the pics.
I totally fell in love with my dress. It was everything I wished for. I wanted my accessories to be statements as my dress was very simple. They’re my favourite things to purchase in general so this was the easiest part for me! I had a veil for the day and feather and diamante headband for the evening to add glamour. My shoes were the best! The had fur pom poms on the toes – I wanted to have a little signature of my style. Tim wore a stunning black three piece from Reiss, and my bridesmaids wore black jumpsuits made by my Mother. We wanted to keep attire monochrome!
I’m trying to get my head around the fact that it’s September already.. is it just me?! I’m excited to share some spine tingly pretty autumn weddings and styling inspiration on the blog throughout the month, as well as teaching my calligraphy workshops next week! I have a feeling September is going to be my favourite this year!!
We’re kicking off the month with a BEAUTIFUL wedding from the New Forest. Burley Manor is a new venue for me, but a spectacular one and surely one of Hampshire’s finest. Jo and Gavin are gorgeous together: I love seeing couples with a sparkle in their eyes and these two just have an amazing connection which jumps out in their pics. Their Burley Manor wedding photographer was our lovely friend and sponsor Linus Moran Photography, based in Dorset and covering Hampshire and nearby counties. Linus captures the day beautifully, telling Jo and Gavin’s wedding story through heartfelt moments and exquisite details.
There’s something about today’s beautiful wedding which captures the essence of the English countryside so perfectly… it’s in beautiful Dorset, with a quaint church (St Marks, in Talbot Village) and a lovely reception with the prettiest details – paper fans on the wall in shades of gold, and adorable little commemorative pins for all the guests!
Camila is absolutely stunning; Victor looks gorgeous. The love these two share is captured perfectly in the images by our friends at Linus Moran Photography, who are based in Dorset, close enough to the Kings Arms Christchurch to be regular photographers there – and who come highly recommended for their beautiful documentary wedding photography as well as their professionalism and friendliness. I am SO pleased it’s the weekend! I’ve had my nose buried in handwritten invites for an American wedding this week, all while I teach myself how to do Instagram stories (I’m so late, I know!) – and today I’m road tripping down to Manchester with my man to play at escape rooms and hang out with three of my favourite people in the world. In the meantime… this gorgeous wedding editorial is insanely beautiful and full of lush florals in a refreshingly different colour palette. I think you’ll love it…
Images are by our old friend Greg from TP Photography in Dorset – they capture the details and atmosphere of the shoot so beautifully, don’t you think? Lovely Oonagh from The English Florist created a floral chandelier, table centrepieces, buttonholes and breathtaking bouquets with Icelandic poppies, ranunculus, ‘Panda’ anemones and white O’Hara roses. I’ll hand over to Oonagh to tell us a little about the inspiration and styling ideas – and the wonderful venue (which I hadn’t heard of before – and which totally has my heart!)…
