Hey there, beautiful! Are you near a window… can you take a second to look up and see nothing but glorious blue sky? It’s been the loveliest day here by the seaside, and I couldn’t think of anything nicer than to finish such a perfect afternoon with some stunning photography by Jennifer Jane. You may remember Sally & Matt’s wedding – captured by lovely Jennifer. I’ve since become a real admirer of Jennifer Jane Photography and I’m delighted to be able to introduce her as a sponsor of the English Wedding Blog.

Happy Friday everyone! Come to sunny Devon for today’s gorgeous art deco wedding in an insanely amazing venue. Cherry and Myles chose the stunning Burgh Island Hotel for their reception, and it set the scene for an incredibly beautiful, chic and art deco wedding day.

I fell head over heels for their day the second I saw their photos. You’ll love them too!

“We tried our very best to find suppliers local to either our home in Cardiff or from our wedding location in Devon, as we are very keen on supporting local businesses.  We looked at wedding magazines, local wedding blogs and pinterest for most of our ideas and then found most of our contacts at local wedding fairs or via the recommendation of family and friends.”

“The venue was so exquisite, no additional styling was necessary.  All we added was a few personal touches and a vase of flowers per table, created by [our florist] Sally.  Burgh Island Hotel is an absolutely exceptional venue, with incredible scenery and exquisite décor… to have tried to add further decoration would have been completely superfluous and would have detracted from its charm.”

“It was 1 oclock in the morning.  Aaron was asleep, but I couldn’t resist.  Mark had posted them on Facebook.  I was secretly looking at them under the sheets…”

Beautiful Huntsham Court real weddings by Evolve Photography Devon (32)

Wedding photos are a special thing – a treasure you’ll keep forever, share amongst your family and through the generations. They’re the loveliest reminder of your day and I love hearing your reactions to seeing them for the first time – today’s beautiful bride Emily made me smile when she told me she’d peeked before hubby Aaron saw them!

This is a gorgeous wedding from Huntsham Court in Devon. Emily told me, “Everything had a personal touch. We wanted as many people as possible, from family and friends, involved in creating the day, from videographer, to DJs, to designing the outfits and accessories.”

I fell in love with so many of those details, from the venue itself to the flowers, the little hints of London and the gorgeous red accent colours throughout. Emily’s Jane Bourvis dress is stunning – she looks more than amazing and so does her gorgeous hubby. This is one of my favourite images from the day…

I’m all for bicycles on a wedding cake, signature skateboards (only write on the wood, folks!) and wellies tied to pew ends. Today’s is a wedding with a super cute sense of humour and a gorgeous – I mean stunning! – bride and groom.

wedding blog Will Reddaway Photography (23)

Jen and Rob were married in Torquay in spring (hence the wellies – they expected rain!) and held their reception at the fabulous Torre Abbey. I adore Jen’s bridal look: her lace dress was bought at a wedding show and is from Silk Brides in Lichfield. Rob and Jen found suppliers online, through recommendations and had help with lots of DIY projects from friends and family.

The lovely flowers are by a family friend and stationery was designed by Rob. Signage on the day was made by a friend too – Jen’s told us all about the DIY elements of their day in her English Wedding Blog interview at the end of the feature today.

Emily and Daniel are one of the loveliest couples I’ve had the pleasure of featuring… and their wedding is filled with pretty touches and creative details. They married at Upton Barn in July and chose lovely Mark from Evolve Photography to photograph their day.

I have so much to tell you I barely know where to begin… the interview which follows the photos today is superb, and this quote from Emily is spot on: “If at the end of the day you are married to your best friend then it has been a success, everything else is just details.

The details, however, look to have been a total success and then some! I adore the place settings and little favours (too cute!) and the lavender touches are just divine. Suppliers were found through recommendations and online, and Emily and Daniel found their venue through a local wedding show.

Kelly and Joe got married on my birthday back in May, and celebrated in style (as did I!) – they chose to hire Alston Hall for a 5 day festival-inspired celebration with friends and family. Kelly is beautiful – I love how she describes buying her wedding dress and the resulting snow blindness… don’t skip on the English Wedding Blog interview [at the end of today’s feature] for that one!

Festival wedding in Devon by Evolve Photography (28)

The gorgeous couple found their wedding suppliers online, and through friends and local businesses too. Many details are home made too: the stationery was a labour of love; the pompoms, lanterns and fairy lights were all done by friends and family.

The most impressive DIY aspect of today’s wedding blog is the food though: Kelly’s friend Kirsty runs her own catering business and helped design the menu for the wedding. Kelly told me, “we hired her sister and a friend to work as the chefs. Our poor friends then helped with all the prep for the day to serve 150 people!”

Is anyone else growing sunflowers? Mine are on the petite side… and I’m sure they’re meant to be as big as me! #notagardener… Unlike Elizabeth’s glorious sunflowers (by lovely Natasha at Pumpkin & Pye), which set the scene for a brilliantly sunny, beautifully styled and superbly photographed real wedding on the blog today!

Sunflowers and sunshine for a real wedding at Tunnels Beaches Devon with Evolve Photography (46)

I have so much to show you and Elizabeth and Daniel have shared a fantastic English Wedding Blog interview full of helpful advice, tips and wonderful enthusiasm and passion – they brought a tear to my eye with this:

The best thing about being married? “Having grown up together and been together for 15 years it is the icing on the cake – it completes our journey together. And it’s a great excuse to throw a brilliant party!”

The location is close to my heart. A beach wedding outdoors would be my dream come true. It’s unconventional and wildly beautiful, fun and encourages creativity. And speaking of beautiful… Elizabeth is stunning in her dress by Charlie Brear which she chose before she’d even seen it!

Happy afternoon, you loveliest of wedding blog readers! Once again, I am about to happily delight your eyes with the most wonderful wedding images. Laura and Olly had the most magical wedding at The Old Rectory, a family owned Devon wedding venue which has to be seen – because you’ll fall in love with it I promise!

Beautiful wedding photography at the Old Rectory with top photographer Joseph Hall (2)This wedding has a real countryside atsmosphere to it: the rustic setting of the ceremony room is the most charming thing I’ve ever seen… the details fit perfectly and the images of guests laughing, drinking and dancing in the rural surroundings are simply out of this world.

Amy has to be the prettiest bride since ever. She’s gorgeous, full of joy and happiness and has a beaming smile… which comes from being on Dan’s arm, I think! I haven’t seen a prettier wedding in ages: the combination of spring blossoms, pretty florals and such a fab couple make today’s spring outdoor wedding really, really special.

Of course what makes a wedding blog special is the photography, and I was thrilled to read Amy and Dan’s glowing praise of my lovely photographer friend Mark at Evolve Photography in Devon. Choosing a wedding photographer is such a huge decision, and Amy and Dan told me Mark “was always friendly, calm, professional, and having now seen the photos we couldn’t have asked for more.”

There are so many highlights to show you from today’s outdoor wedding – the floral touches make it colourful and playful in style; the portraits around Dartington Hall are fabulous. I adore the cherry blossoms and the pretty ceremony space… oh and the reception styling is wonderful too!

I’ve been so excited – for weeks – to show you Carly and Harry’s wedding day. Carly is the loveliest bride and our email chats have been an absolute delight. I love her for framing my calligraphy – it looks a hundred times more amazing with her styling touches! – and for sharing one of the best wedding interviews I’ve featured on the English Wedding Blog in the history of all time.

Calligraphy by Claire English Wedding Blog (9)

I adore the bright, summery, colourful styling which was all based around sunflowers. Carly told me, “The sunflower was the starting point for the whole day, which was the one thing I knew was a must for our wedding… Over a hundred decorated bottles formed the basis of the decorations being used as centrepieces and vases filling each mantelpiece and window at Holne Park House.

It’s truly spectacular – another favourite wedding of mine and one I’ll never, ever forget. Huge thanks to lovely wedding photographers Katherine and Steve from Nova Wedding Photography for sharing their images with us today. Do check them out, especially if you’re getting married near Devon:

When Alexandra met Lewis she was dressed as a devil. He was wearing “a 12 year old’s skeleton suit”… and they fell in love! They were married in June and their wedding is one of the loveliest classic English weddings I’ve seen. Alexandra looks divine in a Sassi Holford gown while Lewis is fabulous in a Reiss suit. Their theme was vintage travel, styled around a red post box which I love.

With stationery by Lucy Says I Do and fabulous flowers by Caroline Hodges, the styling of this lovely Devon wedding is classy and colourful. I love all the little details – and the portraits of gorgeous Alexandra and Lewis are just so romantic!
