The loveliest last-minute touches for a personal, meaningful wedding

The days are ticking by, your wedding feels so close, and everything’s organised: perhaps a celebrant-led ceremony, a documentary wedding photographer – and styling touches that feel like home. In the weeks before you finally get wed – because it’s a super busy time, with loads to do and never enough minutes in the day! – last-minute arrangements can take over. When I’m not busy behind the scenes at English Wedding, I’m working with lovely couples on those final, personal touches: writing their names in exquisite calligraphy.

Calligraphy is an optional extra for weddings: I’m never going to tell any couple what they ‘need’ or ‘should have’. But it’s affordable – calligraphy wedding place names in my Etsy shop start at £1 each – and it’s a genuine personal touch: hand written, carefully and with love.

The classic last-minute wedding items people ask me for are place names, and table name cards.

When couples discover my wedding calligraphy website they often ask for little extras: signs for guest books, handwritten menus for food, cocktails and desserts, even a couple of handwritten calligraphy pieces for flatlay photographs and keepsakes of their wedding day.

Then there are wedding certificates: I adore Quaker style certificates where guests are all invited to sign their names under the newlyweds’ – and yes, couples do order these with just weeks to go before their weddings!
And the joy of all wedding joys – calligraphy wedding table plans. I genuinely love writing these, and mine are elegant, modern calligraphy based on classic, gently flourished lettering.
They’re another popular last-minute addition while couples are rounding up stragglers from guest lists… and if you’re in this situation you are absolutely not alone!

There’s almost always an auntie, a cousin or a distant friend desperately making arrangements to come to your wedding… the waiting for an answer is frustrating, but I’m there with my pens and can write a stunningly beautiful wedding table plan in calligraphy with just two weeks to go before your wedding.

… if you’re reading this with plenty of time before your wedding day, I’d love to hear from you too! I design and write calligraphy invitations, address envelopes by hand and so much more. Browse my wedding calligraphy galleries at Calligraphy-for-Weddings.com
