A beautiful wedding in one of Devon’s most beautiful venues; a gorgeous couple and their adorable family. The floral styling in this wedding is incredible, the images are breathtaking and there’s even a mini photoshoot at the end for the couple with their precious horses – this wedding is everything, and we’re thrilled to be sharing Becky & Chris’s day with you today. Congratulations Becky and Chris – your wedding is a beauty! And huge thanks to Devon wedding photographers Andrew & Aga at Younger Photography for sharing their images with us.

How did you choose your photographer?
My best friend recommended Andrew and Aga as they hired them for their wedding 6 years ago. Based on our original budget we thought they may be too expensive for us but when we met them we knew that they were worth every penny. We instantly hit it off at our first meeting, the banter was flowing and we felt we could be completely ourselves around Andrew. We agreed to a package that would be a true representation of the day, laughs tears and tantrums (thankfully there were none of these!) We really wanted to be able to look back at our album and have it re tell the day honestly, we felt confident Andrew could capture this for us. Andrew also kindly agreed to do a separate photo shoot with our horses at home, something that was really important to us.
Were you pleased with your wedding photographer? Do tell… we love a brilliant review!
We loved having Andrew with us on the day and so did all of our guests and the videographer. We laughed all day, we managed very few serious photos but this was absolutely how we wanted it. When the photos came through and when we looked at them we thought they were lovely, but actually it wasn’t until a few days later that I sat up one night and viewed them properly and slowly that I really fell in love with them. The photos are so natural and very us.
Videographer details if applicable – and any thoughts for other couples about having a wedding video?
We used Charlotte Dart as our videographer, who also came highly recommended from another friend. Charlotte is just the most lovely person, very accommodating and professional. Charlotte worked really well alongside Andrew, both of them complimented each other and you would never have known that they hadn’t worked together before. We haven’t seen the video yet but we cannot wait to receive it. We were never going to book a videographer but a couple of our friends said that they hadn’t and regretted not doing it. Thank god we booked Charlotte as due to Covid we had several close friends and family who were unable to attend, the wedding video will be so lovely to share with them.
Tell us about your venue – what made this place special for you?
Rockbeare Manor is just faultless, when we visited nearly four years ago we booked on the spot. The main reason for this is that we couldn’t find a reason not to marry there. The house itself is gorgeous, the grounds are stunning. There are so many options available to you as a couple with food and drinks we felt that we could pick something that suited the majority of our guests. Covid put a stop to our first two wedding dates, which was relatively stressful but Rockbeare were just incredible. Nothing was too much trouble and compared to what we heard other couples were up against we felt very fortunate.
Did you love wearing your outfits? How was the dress / suit shopping experience?
Three years ago when our outfits were chosen we loved them, however I think if money had been no object we would have both changed them before the actual wedding which was over a year later than it should have been. The shop where I bought my dress actually closed down, but the suit shop that Chris chose is still going well having survived the pandemic which is fantastic. The lady that fitted his suit was very nice but I think we both feel that we should have been a bit more picky.
Did you hire a florist? Tell us about any floral amazingness
Hannah Burnett is just the best florist in the South West, again Hannah came highly recommended from a friend that used her. Hannah was my go to when I needed some straight talking advise and helped us to design and chose the most perfect and beautiful flowers. I trusted her implicitly with decorating Rockbeare and we had a very good budget, I love flowers so chose to go all out in this department and that Hannah did. There were flowers every where you looked and we loved sending our guests away with flowers the next day to enjoy.
As cake lovers here at English Wedding we’d LOVE to know who made your cake, and how delicious it was?
Chloe Bakes made our wedding cake, her first proper wedding cake at that! Chloe is local to us and set up her cake business in lockdown. I popped a post up on social media asking for cake makers and there were tonnes of people tagged but Chloe was the only one who took the time to get in contact with us. We are very laid back and actually Chloe’s cakes tasted delicious (we had a lush sample box.) We figured if they tasted good did it even matter if it wasn’t perfect? Chloe on the other hand wanted to provide us with a perfect cake and worked so hard on it, we chose a 3 tier cake with 3 different flavours. Lemon, red velvet and Victoria sponge. The cake had a gatsby/chic theme and was also partly decorated by Hannah Burnett who Chloe worked alongside on the morning really nicely. The cake got soo many compliments and no one could believe that Chloe had never made a wedding cake before. It was gorgeous to look at, it was huge and tasted amazing. Chloe has since had several wedding cake bookings off the back of our cake being shown on social media and we are so happy for her.
Tell us about any special personal touches, or creative projects you made yourselves
We had a horse theme/race horse theme as we have both grown up with horses. Chris had a successful career as a professional jockey and I have ridden since i was around 3 years old. The tables were named after our very special horses which nearly all of our guests would recognise. The only thing I actually made were the table name holders which I made out of horse shoes, I sprayed them a champagne gold colour and cut out horse hats to sit on them with the horses name. It took me ages and was so stressful but so worth it.
What was your first dance song? Why did you choose it?
Tom Walker – Just you and I.
Because our band recommended it, we don’t have a song but this one seemed to fit our day and us quite well.
How did the pandemic affect your wedding plans? Do you have any advice to share with couples planning their weddings right now?
We had 3 dates and got married over a year later than we should have, my tip would be that you get what you pay for (most of the time!) My suppliers were all amazing bar one make up artist but this turned out to be a blessing in disguise! We both took time to look and choose suppliers and thank god we did, they worked with us seamlessly until the end.
