Hey lovelies! How are you all this beautiful Thursday morning? I’m already planning the blog for August – it’s a crazy busy summer of weddings which is wonderful 🙂 If there are any photographers out there who’d love to see their favourite summer weddings on the blog, do get in touch! I also have a handful of sponsor slots available from today, which I’m offering a lovely saving on – so pop me an email over if you’d like to know more (email@example.com) But most importantly – Amy and Mark. These two are just gorgeous, and their day is full of individuality and character – it’s just perfect. Images are by lovely English Wedding sponsor and Hertfordshire wedding photographer Becky Harley – and they’re outstanding. Becky gets a glowing review from our happy couple, who have shared all the details of their day with us here. I hope you love this one as much as I do!
Happy Sunday everyone! I hope you’re having a happy, sunny day, wherever you are. I actually wrote this yesterday because I’m planning to be on my way down from a big mountain in time for Sunday lunch… which means a dawn start! Eeek! So anyway – these two are one of my favourite couples because they really didn’t conform to the ‘normal’ wedding expectations (and for me that word normal isn’t the most exciting of words, so this is a good thing!) Alice describes their day as ‘unweddingy’ – and this makes me very happy. Safe to say most wedding bloggers are on a bit of a mission to encourage couples to do things their way – and for me at least, wearing something completely different to a standard wedding dress is a brilliant place to start! Needless to say, Alice looks incredibly beautiful; Sam’s gorgeous and together they made their wedding as perfect as can be. Images are by English Wedding Directory member Siobhan H Photography.

I am desperate for summer to kick in! I know it’s only the 4th of February, but still… I can taste spring in the air, I’m sure I can. Maybe it’s these sunflowers…
Katie and Richard are gorgeous. Katie’s dress is just divine, and (as I think I mentioned yesterday!) I do love a couple who choose outfits with something just a little different. Honestly – this is such a personal and individual wedding and I think it’s fabulous. The day is bright and summery, their smiles are infectious, the styling touches they chose for their tipi reception are fabulously colourful and creative…

We met Becky at a wedding fair at Knebworth House. We were so pleased with everything. She made us feel so comfortable throughout the day. She was super chilled out and relaxed which is very much like me and Richard. Her photos were super relaxed and natural. She was so easy to have around which I think added to why her photos were so good as people were relaxed and she was never invasive with the camera. She managed to get some lovely natural photos of the kids who are very camera shy but you wouldn’t know it looking at the pictures. We couldn’t have been happier.
Is anyone else dreaming of summer breezes and pretty country flowers already? I know I’m a little early… but already we’re planning blog features for late spring and I’m excited to see long, golden wedding days on my screen again! Let’s spoil ourselves this cold Wednesday morning and pretend we’re back in July with gorgeous Alex & Jamie’s wedding, shall we?
The venue was Pendley Manor, a magnificent country home with 33 4-poster bedrooms and expanses of immaculate lawns and landscaped gardens. The hotel is grade II listed and set in 35 acres of beautifully landscaped and wooded parkland close to the picturesque Hertfordshire town of Tring.
Alex chose pretty daisies as the key flower for the nine bridesmaids bouquets, which I think looks really lovely with a touch of gypsophila. For her own bouquet she added bright summery flowers: – lisianthus and pale pink roses along with the softest blue delphiniums. Overall styling was sweet and simple – feather-shaped kraft place names stamped with guests’ names, and more summer garden flowers on the tables. I LOVE the milk churns full of flowers outside the church, don’t you?
Happy Sunday everyone! I hope you’re having a wonderful day, wherever you are. I have lovely news for all of our Hertfordshire brides and grooms today – we’re welcoming Nicola Norton Photography to the pages of the English Wedding Blog. I love Nicola’s relaxed documentary style and the gorgeous images she captures, and I look forward to seeing much more from her on the blog over the next few months! Grab a cuppa, nestle into something cosy and enjoy this little intro from Nicola before you head over to her beautiful website (links at the end of the feature). Have a wonderful day!
Hi, I’m Nicola, a Hertfordshire Wedding Photographer. I live in Ampthill with my husband and two young boys, Harry and Vinnie. I consider myself very lucky to have this job, where I get to do what I love, but also spend lots of time with my family and be there when my children get home from school, so am fortunate to have the best of both worlds.
Discovering new talents and finding new wedding pics to swoon over is what I live for – stumbling across photographers whose photos take my breath away is one of the very best things in my wedding blogging life! Today I’d love to introduce you to lovely Becky Harley Photography, who is based in Welwyn Garden City and shoots weddings throughout Hertfordshire and surrounding counties. Her style is fabulous – one glimpse at her website home page and you will fall in love. I did!
I’m Becky Harley, a wedding photographer based in Welwyn Garden City, in Hertfordshire. I love to capture natural images that are full of light, life and love!
I’ve always been interested in photography – I was always the one with the camera throughout school and university, and my parents actually have a little album of photos I took on a family trip to Disney, aged four, with a little disposable film camera. It’s mostly pictures of people’s legs, but still!
Gorgeous Hertfordshire bride Anita is making a splash of fabulous colour on the English Wedding Blog today. Her vintage inspired styling is balanced with vibrant accents, and I’m in love with her Sally Beam wedding dress – isn’t it fab? Together with groom Naoto they planned the perfect day, and I love how refreshing their styling is. I hope you’ll adore it too!
“I had mixed, bright flowers including roses and gerberas. I wanted the flowers to add a burst of colour and fun to the church and venue. Florist Sioned Rogers works alongside ‘Dress it Yourself‘ who did an amazing job of decorating the venue. I wanted a vintage picnic feel so I went for gingham tablecoths, bunting and lots of vintage containers and books to dress the tables. I made the table plan with a chalkboard and then had silk flowers stapled around the frame. It was actually quite fun to make and lots of people complemented it!
Ria and Jordan’s day is so prettily styled with the loveliest spring flowers – their barn venue is one I haven’t seen or featured on the blog before and I’ve fallen head over heels for this place – I hope you will too!
My wedding flowers were simple and pretty! I was showing my auntie one day what I was thinking of doing just in general conversation. (She is not a florist, but we all call her green fingers as gardening is her favourite hobby and she has an allotment!) She suggested I could do them myself so I asked her if she would help and luckily she did! People kept asking all day who my flowers were by! My bridesmaids had simple gypsophila which my auntie also made, I had my bouquet made by Robert in the flower station in North Chingford London. It was just perfect.
Our wedding was at Pledgdon Barn, Bishops Stortford. The barn was built in the Tudor era. It had been looked after amazingly and the character of the venue was very stong and beautiful. We still remember walking in viewing it for the first time, it took our breath away.
Happy Wednesday, wedding blog fans! I promised you the most amazing month of weddings and we’re loving all the beauty on our screens here at English Wedding Blog HQ! Today our real bride and groom are gorgeous Mahsan & Robert – and their Moor Park wedding is deliciously, enchantingly, ridiculously beautiful.
“Tomorrow is my birthday and the pictures were like the best present 🙂 They are soooo beautiful. Absolutely amazing. You’ve done an amazing job and we couldn’t have asked for a better photographer. Thank you so much.” ~ Mahsan

Nadia and Andreas’s wedding is pretty darn special… she’s so amazingly pretty, and they really do look so joyful and content in each other’s arms. Today’s wedding is a treat: beautiful images which capture the atmosphere of a very special day. There are some amazing shots: Nadia’s dress looks divine in every photo, and I love the image of Andreas before the ceremony – no nerves, just pure happiness. Fantastic.

“Nadia was a stunning Bride – so photogenic, and wore her Caroline Castigliano dress so well. It was the first time I’d been part of a multi-faith ceremony – both Muslim and Christian – which made it feel very special. Plus I managed to get my favourite picture of a bride arriving for her ceremony!
I love a humanist ceremony: it’s an incredible way of personalising your marriage and making it suit the two of you – no matter how or where you choose to marry. Add to this the most amazing flowers, a gorgeous couple and a wonderfully sunny day, and you have the perfect wedding. Here are Holly & Dame, in a real wedding film by Just Happy Together. Enjoy!
So here’s a crazy thing: a collection of some of the most AMAZING wedding photos I’ve seen all year, from a couple who told me, “Most of our guests didn’t realise we had a photographer, which is how Colin [of Colin Nicholls Photography] manages to get such beautiful, natural shots.”
Today’s real wedding comes from the beautiful Hertfordshire wedding venue Loudwater Farm – another wonderful thing I’ve somehow managed to never feature on the English Wedding Blog before. And so it sort of feels as though my Christmas has come early.
Jess and Joe are both gorgeous. Their wedding is perfect – it’s one of my favourites of 2015 (which I’ll be sharing in a special feature in January). DIY was a major part of their day, and Jess told me “My mum was an absolute hero and took charge of the homemade elements. She loves crafts, and gave us so many good ideas for decoration, as well as making it all!” But the homemade side of this wedding goes above and beyond: Joe even brewed most of the beer! How awesome is that?!!
