Amie & Andrew’s wisteria wedding at Pencarrow, with Tracey Warbey Photography

Published by Claire Gould on

So this is pretty special – and a happy reminder of warmer days! Amie & Andrew chose gorgeous Pencarrow for their wedding in Cornwall, and our friend Tracey Warbey Photography to capture their day. The ceremony location is uniquely beautiful with wisteria in bloom at the perfect time in May. Amie’s dress is amazing, the couple are just stunning and this is an elegant, joyful day we just know you’ll love!

If you missed our announcements over the last week or two, we’ve changed our interview for couples to focus on lovely supplier recommendations, and it’s warming our hearts! Wonderful reviews here for Cornwall wedding photographer Tracey Warbey, for Pencarrow House, Bellissima Weddings and Martin and Budge, Fleurtations Flowers, MakeMe Digital, Dollybird Bakes and Sjani from Makeup by Ione – don’t miss them!

Wedding photographer review

Tracey was brilliant during our wedding – she captured the day perfectly and was an absolute pleasure to work with during our couples photos, which we are so pleased with. Tracey also captured some lovely candid moments between guests. She was very responsive to communication before the wedding.

Your best moment or memory

Taking time to look at our guests enjoying the drinks ceremony, as we were stood back from it all, during our couples photos. It was so special to have that time together to take it all in. The ceremony under the arbour, with wisteria in full bloom, was also absolutely stunning!

Tell us anything you did differently – we love hearing about NEW traditions (or none at all!)

When our June 2020 wedding, due to take place at pencarrow, was cancelled due to covid we decided to do a micro wedding in November 2020 at our local registry office in bishop’s stortford, then to have our wedding celebration at pencarrow, hosting the day we’d originally planned, but in May 2022. Because we were already legally married at the time of our pencarrow ceremony, Amie’s brother lead a very personal and special ceremony, which was beautiful.

We served our wedding cake as dessert for our guests, with clotted cream and coulis, to make sure it didn’t go to waste! This worked really well. We had pasties as our evening food, in keeping with our Cornish venue.

Venue name + review

Pencarrow House & Gardens. Absolutely stunning Georgian stately home, with listed gardens which provided so many beautiful photo opportunities! We loved the fact that we could have an outdoor ceremony, under the wisteria arbour, followed by a drinks reception in the gardens by the stately home, then move guests down to the marquee for the wedding breakfast and dancing! Our guests were amazed by the multiple locations included during our wedding. The walled gardens, housing the marquee, had a really magical and private feel to them.

Tell us a little about your outfits – both of you!

We went with a classic look – Amie wore a slim fitting, mermaid gown with a large train by enzoani. Andrew wore a morning suit, with a buff coloured double breasted waistcoat and a Brodie family tartan tie.

Dress or suit shop name + review

Amie’s dress was from Belissima weddings, Essex Andrew hired his suit from Martin and Budge, Bodmin – both suppliers highly recommended!

Florist name + review

Fleurtations, Bodmin. Caroline was absolutely fantastic! I loved my bouquet, she captured my vision perfectly.

Cake maker name + review

Dollybird bakes, Launceston. Hayley was brilliant and our wedding cake was beautiful.

Stationery maker’s name + review

We used an online wedding stationery template, from MakeMeDigital – it was great and very easy to use.

Any crafty projects or homemade styling touches?

We hand made our place settings and table names. Amie’s Dad wrote the table plan on an ornate mirror, which we placed within the marquee. We made and printed our own wedding signs. We made amaretto favours using mini glass bottles and twine. Amie’s parents made lots of glass jam jar and gypsophila table decorations.

Wedding readings?

Winnie the Pooh reading, by A.A. Milne, “If you live to be a hundred…” and ‘The One’ by Cheryl Barclay

First dance song? Playlist recommendations?

Hair + makeup name + review

Makeup by Ione was the company I used and I had a woman called Sjani doing my hair and makeup – she was absolutely fantastic and I felt like the best version of myself, thanks to her!
