An elegant English wedding at The Ashes

A creative wedding day in the heart of the countryside. A beautiful English country house, a gorgeous bride and groom, stunning pictures, even a nod back to the royal wedding (who remembers that one?!) — so I think you’ll really love this wedding blog feature!

This is one of two weddings at The Ashes I have to blog — so if you love this wedding venue, keep watching English Wedding blog!

Back to school for a vibrant, colourful wedding

When I need a bit of colour therapy mixed in with my wedding obsession, I know where to go: wedding photographer Katy Lunsford dishes out spectacularly colourful photographs in her very own inimitable style.

This is Ruth and Dan’s wedding, held in April at Staffordshire’s Smallwood Manor. The school is a gorgeous victorian building with its own chapel and set in fifty acres of parkland nestled in the Staffordshire countryside.

Ruth and Dan's real wedding vibrant colours (28)I absolutely adore how Ruth and Dan planned their wedding day — with lots of help from family and friends they created a stunning theme of beautiful colours to brighten up the spring day. The bridesmaids wore different coloured pashminas — an idea I love to bits! — and tables were fun and funky.

A springtime wedding in Cambridge

Time for a wedding, and this one is a real treat which I found thanks to Jenny and Keith McAvoy’s excellent blogging on the English Wedding Showcase. The wisteria wall as a backdrop for the beautiful bride and groom absolutely blew me away.

Cambridge Wedding by McAvoy Photography (12)It turns out that our wonderfully odd English weather caused the wisteria to flower early in Cambridge this year! What a great omen for bride and groom Luisa and Chris. The flowers even made it onto the local news in Cambridge.

Gorgeous spring wedding in an ancient English castle

Hazlewood Castle is in the Domesday book, no less, and dates from as far back as 1086! It was the perfect wedding venue for Natsumi and Pete, who got married earlier in the spring. There are some really stunning images here, courtesy of Tierney Photography. I love the imagination of these first two images especially: the shadows are fab!

Pete and Natsumi’s wedding day at Hazlewood Castle in Yorkshire has so many stunning elements to it I know you’ll love this post. The baby girl is grinning as though she’s already got the wedding bug! I love the check floor with the little bridesmaid dancing across, and the lighting in the images of the castle itself.… I hope you love this wedding as much as I do. Enjoy!

Brympton House

Brympton House in Somerset, an idyllic wedding venue

Brympton House is a stunning English wedding venue, set within 33 acres of glorious parkland and lakes and with a history that can be traced back to the Doomsday Book.  The House was once at the centre of the medieval village of Brympton D‘Evercy,  was built between 1460 and 1680 and is approached by a long private drive.  The estate is made of several buildings including the 1350 Dower House, Bell Tower, Orangery & Church. Brympton has been described as the “most beautiful house in England”.
