Relaxed and informal modern wedding in Leeds with Anna wood Photography (13)

You can hire a country manor, fill it with flowers and spend countless weeks cutting and pasting designs for your invites and table plan… but wedding blogs are here to show you you don’t have to do any of that. You can create a brilliantly amazing and memorable wedding your guests will love without all the bits people expect – just like gorgeous bride and groom Diane and Michael did. I love how they describe their day – the focus was on brilliant food and drink, making sure their guests were looked after, and choosing 3 fabulous venues for their ceremony, reception and evening party. I love it: the whole day looks and sounds just perfect – a wedding blogger’s dream!

We contacted Anna after seeing her ad on Facebook and we were not disappointed. Our first meeting was more like having a friend round for a brew than a meeting where We chatted about the day itself but really got to know more about each other. Advice we’d been given was to choose someone you get along with as your photographer as you spend a lot of time with them and Anna was so warm and genuinely excited by our wedding, she was the clear choice for us to share our day with.

Happy Monday lovelies! Just a handful of days to go now until my next calligraphy class in Manchester so it’s a crazy busy week here at English Wedding HQ! Today though, I have the most beautiful celebration to share with you – Lucy & Tim’s gorgeous wedding at 10 Castle Street, an exclusive country house venue in Dorset. Lucy’s Halfpenny London dress is just fabulous, and I love the atmosphere of the day which just comes across wonderfully well in the pics.

I totally fell in love with my dress. It was everything I wished for. I wanted my accessories to be statements as my dress was very simple. They’re my favourite things to purchase in general so this was the easiest part for me! I had a veil for the day and feather and diamante headband for the evening to add glamour. My shoes were the best! The had fur pom poms on the toes – I wanted to have a little signature of my style. Tim wore a stunning black three piece from Reiss, and my bridesmaids wore black jumpsuits made by my Mother. We wanted to keep attire monochrome!

Happy Monday everyone! How was your weekend?

After something of a lazy weekend spent relaxing with family, I’m hitting the ground running with a stunning, knock your socks off kinda wedding today. The florals take centre stage – as they tend to, if you’re lucky enough to be able to celebrate your wedding in your own garden. Nick and Amanda did just that – they put all the flowers together for the tables, made their own invitations and wedding favours and even a balloon arch! Images are by our lovely friend and English Wedding Directory member Siobhan H Photography.

I love the relaxed feel of this wedding – the wooden tables and pretty styling go a long way – the trees dotted around the wedding breakfast tables look fabulous!

Amanda is beautiful in a simple lace dress with navy belt and shoes – an outfit perfect for dancing the night away! And Nick’s look fits perfectly with the relaxed vibe of their wedding day: his navy suit compliments Amanda’s style for the ceremony, and for the rest of the day he rocks a neutral waistcoat – these two lovely people just look so good together!

Happy Friday lovelies! It’s been a fabulous week here at English Wedding HQ and we’ve plenty of loveliness in store for the rest of the summer too. Have you signed up for our mailing list yet? You’ll be the first to read our new digital magazine if you do – it comes out in September and we’re so excited to share it with you.

Today’s real wedding is a beautiful combo of contemporary chic styling and traditional touches. Beautiful bride Lilyanna and gorgeous groom Chris were married in April at The Reid Rooms in Margaret Roding, Essex. Originally built nearly 200 years ago as stables for the working horses on Marks Hall Farm, the Reid Rooms is in such a lovely rural setting and has real charm about it – there’s even a moat, open fields and a pretty courtyard full of colourful flowers.

“We didn’t really have a theme, I wanted to keep it quite traditional with a spring feeling. We had a lot of lilac and lace. I wanted it to look pretty but not too much, I definitely feel like we achieved this as I would not change anything if I had the chance.

Today’s wedding is just stunning – I especially adore the vibrant floral arrangements, and the bride and groom are gorgeous!! Ventnor Botanic Garden is a revelation…what a beautiful location with all those tropical plants… if I was on the Isle of Wight I’d be making a beeline for the place to find out more!

Erika’s dress is fabulously different and she looks amazing – while Justin is equally gorgeous and beaming with happiness (I wish I could hear his speech – the photos don’t do it justice!) So grab a cuppa and find a comfy chair, enjoy this lovely pair’s fabulous wedding pics, and have the most wonderful Friday everyone!!

We went to Ventnor botanical garden wedding fair and loved her style and found Holly really friendly and approachable. We booked her then and there.

We really couldn’t have asked for better photos!!! We love all of them. Holly has captured the day so perfectly and no awkward poses, showing family and friends our photos, we have been told many times how amazing the photos are!!!

If any of you lovelies have the Monday blues, we’re about to help whisk them away with some gorgeous real wedding inspo. Sherelle and Matt are the loveliest couple, glowing with happiness on their wedding day, which has everything from gorgeous styling touches to a fabulous setting and stunning portraits. I first saw their pics when our lovely friend Miriam from English Wedding Directory members The Artisan Wedding House got in touch – and I fell in love with every bit of this wedding! I just know you will too.

“Our venue recommended Miriam from Artisan to help decorate and we are forever grateful. Miriam was more than helpful throughout my wedding planning and even reassured me that everything would be just how I wanted it on the day. I believe Stanton is a blank canvas that can be as unique as the couple getting married there. I would highly recommend Artisan and the Aladdin’s cave of deco Miriam has to offer!

Happy Friday folks! Ah… how on earth is it the end of the week already?! We’ve had the most amazing week of wedding inspiration on the blog, and I have so much planned to share with you over the weekend and next week too! But first – I like to share something really beautiful every Friday: as work is winding down we can all afford a little longer for lunch, right? So today we’re sharing Alexandra and Hugo’s marquee wedding with tons of handmade touches (beautiful bride Alexandra bought and arranged ALL the flowers, as well as making the stationery!) and gorgeous styling.

“I arranged the bouquets, head garlands, button holes and marquee flowers along with friends and family helping with the church and flower arch. My bouquet was peonies – my absolute favourite with some eucalyptus. The bridesmaids had bouquets made up of lizzianthus and gypsophillia and the marquee flowers were roses and gypsophillia with the flower arch being a mix of all flowers used. When hiring a marquee you then have to do all decoration yourself so the days before the wedding no waking minute was wasted turning it into our dream venue! Plenty of flowers and bunting was used to achieve this. We had a traditional marquee with poles which we wrapped ivy around.

Happy Tuesday everyone! This week is flying by – I’m normally good at getting blog posts ready well in advance, but today I’m flying by the seat of my pants! I blame the sunshine… haha! Now I know you’re going to love Alex and Scott’s day. The styling is beautiful in rose gold and dusky pink. The images are stunning – they’re by my lovely friend Camilla Lucinda Photography – and there’s a wonderful story which you’ll see from the pics in a sec. In short, this wedding has absolutely everything: Alex is soooo gorgeous and Scott her perfect match – I’ll let the happy couple tell you more!

We bought a lot of decoration for our venue, I loved the soft fairy lights look so our venue was covered in micro LED lights, it was so magical! Our tables looked stunning – we had rose gold sequin table runners, with mirrored plates and LED candles. We also paid extra to have a starlight back drop behind the top table which looked amazing! We struggled to find rose gold table numbers so we bought plain ones and spray painted them in a sparkly rose gold. We also spray painted our ‘no phones or pictures on social media’ picture frame and arranged for a design to be printed to be displayed in our venue.

Happy Monday everyone! How was your weekend? I have to admit… I’ve been attacked by a horsefly and am typing with a right arm the size of one of my legs… eeeeekk!! I’m mainly wearing ice packs today! (Is it just me?!) Luckily I don’t particularly need my elbow to blog and bring you amazing weddings, and boy do we have something special to share today! I’ve been keeping gorgeous couple Becky and Sam up my sleeve for a few weeks now – their fabulously vintage, Great Gatsby inspired, home crafted, personal wedding at Crockwell Farm is definitely going down as one of my favourites of 2018 so far.

Gorgeous bride Lizzie and hubby Chris got married at the very lovely Kingscote Barn, Gloucestershire. It rained all day but they had so much fun, and the styling touches are just lovely – in white and green, with fabulous floral displays and the most amazing table plan. Favours were mini scented soy candles, which is the sweetest idea, don’t you think?

Kingscote Barn didnt need much styling as it is such a beautiful venue. But I did have a fantastic wedding stylist, English Wedding Directory member The Little Wedding Helper (Kirsten Butler) did such a great job. Her collaboration with Bijoux Floral Design (Becci Hobbs), signsandstationerylove (Tamsin Yates) created the most amazing table plan! Bijoux Floral Design did such an amazing job with our flowers! Becci was incredible, and really made my vision a reality.

Happy Sunday everyone! I hope you’re relaxing and enjoying a peaceful day wherever you are (is anyone else watching back to back world cup matches? no? just me?! I have to admit I’m not really paying attention…) It’s very easy to be distracted with this much wedding pretty on my screen, to be honest… I’ve been excited to share Hannah and Ben’s wedding with you – it’s gorgeously full of spring styling, and brought to you by lovely Ashdown Park wedding photographer Damion Mower, who is based in Buckinghamshire. Hannah is absolutely stunning in her English Rose wedding dress, and Ben wears a tail suit in charcoal, looking every bit the dashing country gentleman!

In the church we had spring flowers which were arranged by the church’s florist. Our reception was in a converted chapel so we had stained glass windows all around. We had tall flower centre pieces and lights in a organza tulle wrapped around the bannisters. These little details really complimented the venue.
