Natural styling for a relaxed and beautiful English wedding with images by Sky Photography (17)

Hey lovely! How was your weekend? I had a fantastic calligraphy workshop on Friday, followed by two Christmas shopping trips over the weekend… and yes, I’m almost done! We shopped locally in the Lake District and bought lots of gorgeous handmade bits and pieces for everyone. I still have my man to buy for… leaving the trickiest until last!

Today I’m sharing a gorgeous wedding which lovely Simon and Karla from Sky Photography submitted to the blog a few weeks ago. Gorgeous bride and groom Kayleigh and Kieron were married at Bassmead Manor Barns back in the summer (remember those wonderful sunny weeks which seemed to go on forever?!) and their day is just blissfully beautiful.

“Our wedding was just the best day ever, surrounded by our favourite people. It all happened in the beautiful English countryside during the 2018 heatwave.

We wanted to keep the day relatively informal. The venue didn’t require a lot of decoration, due to its gorgeous surroundings. We kept the decor quite natural, in a simple navy, white and blush theme. The flowers were a dusty pink rose ‘Amnesia’ and big fluffy white ‘David Austin’ roses amongst lots of luscious eucalyptus and greenery.

I love today’s wedding. Scrolling through the photos takes me on a mini rollercoaster of emotions – with gorgeous details and a stunning bride and groom, the proudest mum ever, and some wonderfully comical pics of little ones enjoying the day. The overwhelming feeling from this lovely Chippenham Park wedding is of love and happiness – and I know you’ll adore what you’re about to see.

This was a beautiful spring wedding at one of my favourite venues in Cambridge, Chippenham Park. The grounds are just amazing, a perfect backdrop at every turn. The bridesmaids wore unusual bright red dresses too which made for some great contrast in the group photos. ~ Lee Allison, Cambridge wedding photographer

Elegant and fun Madingley Hall wedding with Ayshea Goldberg Photography (12)

Hey lovelies! I’m so happy to be sharing such beautiful inspiration with you this week – I like to think I save the best until last and this year we’re celebrating December in style!! Today’s wedding combines historic elegance with lots of fun touches and a secret theme of Jane Austen – gorgeous bride and groom Bex and John had Jane Austen photo props and did their first dance as the dance from the BBC version of Pride and Prejudice!! How awesome is that? Images are by our lovely friend and sponsor Ayshea Goldberg Photography, who gets the loveliest review from the happy couple (just a couple of paragraphs on…)

Elegant and fun Madingley Hall wedding with Ayshea Goldberg Photography (23)

The Tudor hall at Madingley was so historic and beautiful. We personalised the Saloon Room with lots of photos of us and our family and friends. Our florist added incredible flower garlands to the staircases and the top table. We reused ivy garlands from the church over the grand fireplace and used the bridesmaids bouquets in pint glasses on the tables! My sister put together boxes of goodies for the bathrooms – facewipes, safety pins, chewing gum, nice soap and hand cream. They were such a lovely touch.

Today’s wedding is just amazing – the styling is all whites and greens, a key trend for the year and so beautifully done. I LOVE the florals more than I could even begin to say! Gorgeous bride Emily looked stunning in her beautiful gown by Temperley, with stunning Jimmy Choo shoes. The family pet pugs even wore special flowers on their collars – so cute! Images are by lovely English Wedding Directory member Helen Warner Photography.

The flowers for the marquee reception were particularly stunning including a hanging floral pole. The florals were soft greens and whites and included peonies, roses, tulips, jasmine and trailing vines. All supplied by Through the Looking Glass Flowers. The beautiful cake which perfectly fits all the styling of the day was supplied by Emily Jane Cakes.

Our theme was traditional and ethereal – we wanted it to be an English Country wedding but without any of the cliches or trends. Jonathan and I are known as ‘Toad and Pig’ so we found ways to incorporate that into the day. There were little jars filled with pig and toad sweets for each guest that my mum made. Our caterer’s husband made a bar for the marquee too which was really cool!

You’ll see Lee’s image on every page of the blog from today (to the right—->) and I’m really excited to tell you that Lee and I already have a couple of gorgeous real weddings up our sleeves for you in the coming weeks. I can’t wait to share them with you!

“I’m Lee, a wedding photographer based in Cambridge and you won’t be surprised to hear I love weddings. Every wedding is unique, and it’s always great to see the couple’s personalities shine through on the day.

I love to shoot natural, fun and creative images. I document your day as it unfolds, with very little direction or posing, meaning my photos capture you at your very best, relaxed and happy.

I know: festival-esque isn’t even a word (even if I try and make it look like one by adding a hyphen). But it perfectly describes the wonderful spirit and sense of fun in today’s glorious barn wedding – and I know you’ll get it when you see the fabulous photos telling the story of Helena and Chris’s wedding day.

“Helena & Chris’s barn wedding had such a fun, relaxed vibe that the vibrant mix of personalities and friendships (and especially the VERY excited kids!) provided so many great collective moments throughout the day, not least as Chris’s amazing Reggae band ‘The Reggaelators’ rocked the house into the early hours until everyone was ready to grab a sleeping bag and hit their tents!”

Wow!!! Today’s is a wedding which will grab your attention instantly! I absolutely loved the daytime portraits of Alice and James, and then the evening light transformed this day into something incredibly, unbelievably beautiful.

We got married and had the reception at The Old Hall in Ely just outside of Cambridge. It’s a beautiful venue and we got married in their gazebo overlooking a lake and Ely cathedral.

The venue and scenery were so beautiful we didn’t need to worry about decorations too much as it was so beautiful itself. Our photographer Nicola Casey Photography did a great job capturing the surroundings in the photos, the fields ready for harvest, the tall reeds by the lakes, and our reflection across the water with the moody clouds above us.

So this is an absolute stunner of a wedding… John and Lucy are sooo gorgeous and their wedding day is full of wonderful makes and beautiful details. I love it to bits and I hope you will too! Lucy’s dress is out of this world, the images are light and fresh and make me want to see more. The minimal styling is really refreshing – the Cambridge venues and emotions of the day really do say it all.

Beautiful Cambridge wedding blog with Benni Carol Photography (8)

Lucy’s mum made her wedding dress… isn’t it fabulous? Other details were homemade as well, from stationery to flower arrangements and even props for the photo booth! “We sourced the flowers ourselves and my mum, sister and niece arranged them. We also used tealights, fairy lights, and created our own photo booth with some props and an instant camera. I really enjoyed designing our wedding stationery, and the photo booth was also a lot of fun – sourcing all the props etc.”

I think it’s the first time I’ve ever featured sleepy little piglets on the English Wedding Blog… but they’re sooo adorable!! And they’re the loveliest introduction to South Farm… a venue which today’s gorgeous bride will tell you is a worthy investment, a welcoming space and a fabulous place to get married!

Bex is more than gorgeous – she’s incredibly beautiful and looks radiant on her wedding day. She wears a divine wedding dress with the sweetest lace detailing, and her only accessory is the dried flowers in her hair (which are my absolute favourite thing!)

Bex and Rob sourced their wedding suppliers through venue recommendations and “good old-fashioned Google”, with friends and a very artistic family helping with invites and creative touches. Their wedding styling is wonderfully colourful and Bex’s paper poms are just stunning!

Morning everyone! Today’s real wedding comes from the charming village of Bury in Cambridgeshire. Jessica and Dan were married in September and chose a vintage theme with lots of creative styling!

Vintage wedding in Cambridgeshire with Liz Greenhalgh Photography (3)

They had a blank canvas – literally – for their marquee reception and styled the space with lots of vintage details: gorgeous flowers, antique keys and a Choccywoccydoodah cake. Jessica’s stunning bouquet is by the fabulous Pumpkin & Pye, the other decorations were homemade.

There are plenty of ideas here for other DIY brides – and it’s thanks to lovely Liz Greenhalgh Photography we can share them here today. Do check out Liz’s website:

Liz says, “No detail had been missed. The marquee was just stunning, flowers adorned tables and centrepieces at every turn. The garden was immaculate and full of more vintage loveliness… ” So shall we have a proper look? It’s beautiful – you’ll love it.
