If you read the blog on Monday you’ll know I was still feeling blissfully relaxed and spoilt after a wonderful weekend courtesy of The Wordsworth Hotel & Spa in Grasmere. Regular readers will know the Lake District is my home, and every other (sunny!) weekend I’m to be found with my guy wandering up and down the mountains here. So to be offered a relaxing break on a rainy Saturday in February was a dream come true – and while we couldn’t tick off any summits this weekend, we had the most amazing time exploring Grasmere and The Wordsworth so we could tell you all about the place here on English Wedding.

London is literally heaving with wedding venues – but without a little insider knowledge you’d never know some of them are even there! We’ve put together a list of the coolest 10 wedding venues in London: our favourites for their character and style, whether that be grand old buildings or alternative urban spaces. London wedding photographer Jordanna Marston has photographed weddings at these venues, and her couples are 100% brilliant and creative, so do click through to see more from each of their days.

Discovering little gems of wedding venues around the UK is part of the charm of writing a wedding blog. Mostly, I get to explore the nooks and crannies of beautiful old houses and quirky wedding barns through my screen, when lovely couples and photographers submit their weddings for a feature. Occasionally I get to visit a wedding venue and discover it first-hand, and when those venues are a little too far away from my home in the Lakes I’m lucky to have English Wedding team members dotted around the country who can discover them for me!

Is one of your wedding venue options giving you butterflies in your stomach? One of the biggest wedding tasks is choosing the venue. It can be hard to know for sure when you are seeing the venue of your dreams, with so many beautiful options to choose from! Here are a few simple clues from The Wedding Guide – if you say YES to all of these, you will know when you have found THE venue for your wedding.

So today is officially my last day of work this week… we’re treating ourselves to a very long weekend of music and dancing our heads off, plus a little Christmas shopping too. Of course English Wedding will still have fabulous features coming your way: we’ve a wedding dress showcase tomorrow and then 3 gorgeous real weddings to share with you – all very different, and from Devon, Essex and London. I can’t wait to see them live on the blog! Today though, join me and my lovely friend Carol Elizabeth Photography for a virtual tour around one of Oxford’s most exciting wedding venues – the Ashmolean Museum. Carol is an English Wedding team member and visited the Ashmolean on our behalf earlier in the autumn when they held an open evening. She took her camera and captured a few images from the event – and she’s shared some fabulous pics from a beautiful real wedding at the Ashmolean too!
