The Ferry House, a much-loved barn wedding venue in Kent, has revealed the first artist impressions of its soon-to-be ‘Spring Barn’ – a new ceremony and reception space opening in April 2026.

The Ferry House is set in the beautiful waterside hamlet of Harty, on the Isle of Sheppey in Kent. Owned by local farming family, the Burdens, since 2000, the team has invested decades of wedding experience into designing the ideal, purpose-built space for wedding celebrations.
The very name English Wedding makes people think of stately homes and glamorous celebrations, when it really wasn’t the case when we launched 15 years ago (I was thinking more rebellious Kate Moss and Vivienne Westwood, but there you go)! I’ve been lucky to share hundreds of luxury weddings since then, and I’ll admit a fondness for wedding venues with understated elegance and rolling acres of gardens and hills. If you’re dreaming of saying “I do” in one of England’s castles or luxury country house wedding venues, you’re in good company – lots of modern couples are looking for stylish and timeless wedding venues. Picture this: a grand old manor all to yourselves, historic charm, and a beautiful story to tell.

The UK has some stunning destinations for a wedding weekend away from home. The Lakes, the Highlands and the Cotswolds are personal favourites for me. Having a destination wedding will make your wedding an unforgettable occasion for you and your guests, while a holiday on home soil saves on air miles and the carbon footprint of your wedding. Today on English Wedding, talented wedding planner Mel from Your Story Events shares her very best tips to help you find the perfect Cotswold wedding venue for you.
