We’ve been publishing such lovely advice for English Wedding member Emma Rose Jewellery for many months, and I have loved reading every article Angela has sent in. These tips are golden – little nuggets of advice about pairing pieces of bridal jewellery with different outfits and hairstyles, which colours and gems are timeless or trending, and so much more.

I do think of Angela as my wedding jewellery fairy godmother – if there was anything I wanted to know about bridal accessories I would know exactly who to ask! Even better, she’s so well informed, I don’t think there’s a question she couldn’t answer. She’s a super lovely human too – here are some of her best bits on English Wedding!

Choosing the right bridal earrings for your dress

Everything from your dress style, your neckline, and your hairstyle can guide your choice of bridal earrings to really shine!

  • Classic Ball Gown: A timeless style calls for elegant and sophisticated earrings. Think pearl drops or crystal studs to maintain a refined look.
  • Modern Minimalist: For sleek dresses with clean lines, opt for understated earrings such as small hoops, simple studs, or geometric shapes.
  • Boho Chic: Dresses with lace, flowing fabrics, or floral patterns pair beautifully with nature-inspired earrings, such as leaf motifs or cascading designs.
  • Vintage-Inspired: If your dress features vintage elements like beading or embroidery, consider heirloom-style earrings with intricate details or antique finishes.

Angela talks about reflecting your embellishments and considering comfort too – I loved this super helpful advice blog.

Coordinating your wedding day jewellery and accessories – perfectly!

Features like Choosing the Perfect Bridal Hairstyle & Accessories to Match had me scribbling notes – all of Angela’s tips make so much sense. With examples from the Emma Rose Treasures collections, she explores the perfect accessory choices for different wedding dress styles:

  • Classic & Romantic Gowns work with soft curls, an elegant updo or a half-up, half-down style paired with pearl-adorned hair combs or vintage-inspired tiaras.
  • Loose waves, braids or messy buns work beautifully with boho & whimsical dresses, paired with floral hair vines, dainty pins or nature-inspired accessories.
  • With glamorous & statement dresses, Hollywood waves or sleek buns accessorised with crystal-embellished headpieces, statement crowns, or shimmering hair drapes look amazing.

Pairing bridal jewellery with your wedding dress neckline

In another lovely feature, we learned how to choose the right jewellery for different bridal necklines.

  • For a strapless neckline, allowing for versatile accessorising, Angela suggests a statement necklace or choker.
  • With a sweetheart neckline, complement the romantic curves of your dress with a delicate pendant or teardrop style.
  • Enhance a V-neck dress with a pendant necklace that mimics the ‘V’ shape, creating a cohesive and elongated appearance.
  • If your wedding dress has a high neckline, focus on statement stud or drop earrings instead of a necklace.
  • Off-the-shoulder gowns provide an opportunity to highlight the collarbone area, so a choker or short necklace can add a touch of sophistication.
  • Allow an illusion neckline to be a focal point, and opt for simple stud earrings and delicate bracelets.
  • Halter necklines are complemented by elegant drop earrings or studs to maintain balance.
  • A one-shoulder neckline is a statement in itself. Forgo a necklace and choose bold earrings or a statement bracelet instead.
  • Pair a square neckline with a necklace that has angular features or a simple pendant that sits just above the neckline.
  • If your dress features an open back, consider a back-drop necklace to add a unique and alluring detail.

The beauty of back drape necklaces:

  • Elegant Drama: Adds a dramatic, ethereal touch to minimalist or vintage-inspired gowns.
  • Back-Focused Beauty: Perfect for ceremonies or photo moments when the bride’s back is the focal point — think vows, first dances, or walking the aisle.
  • Versatile Styling: Pairs effortlessly with updos or soft, swept hairstyles that allow the jewellery to shine.

Unique wedding accessories with a pop of colour

This collection followed perfectly from our article about colourful accessories, which showed how beautiful a pop of delicate colour looks with a wedding dress.

Angela shared some of my favourite pieces including the most exquisite hair crown, with a rainbow of soft colours intertwined with sparkling crystal jewellery, hair accessories, statement belts and bespoke designs.

“While classic bridal whites and shimmering silvers or golds will always have their place, more and more brides are embracing subtle pops of colour to enhance their wedding look. Whether it’s the soft blush of rose pink earrings, the deep richness of a sapphire necklace or the ethereal glow of pastel-hued hairpins, a touch of colour can make your bridal accessories feel deeply personal.” ~ Emma Rose Treasures

Loveliness in blue! Bridal accessories in the perfect wintry colour palette

The Emma Rose Jewellery perspective of a winter wedding colour palette is wonderful. Angela had me at “Ice-Kissed” when she introduced this wonderful blog about blue for winter weddings.

“If you’re dreaming of a winter celebration that feels both elegant and ethereal a baby blue wedding theme might be your perfect match. Soft, serene and effortlessly romantic, this delicate hue captures the essence of winter skies and icy elegance”

The accessories she recommends for winter weddings include hair accessories “which sparkle like ice under candlelight”, and earrings with pale blue stones or pearls to embrace the winter light.

For the most timeless of bridal jewellery, choose pearls

Did you know, pearl bridal jewellery has been adored by brides for centuries? Pearls have long been associated with love, purity, and new beginnings, making them an ideal choice for a wedding day. Their soft, luminous glow complements every complexion and pairs beautifully with lace, satin, silk, or tulle gowns.

For brides who wish to carry a piece of family history down the aisle, Emma Rose Jewellery offers a bespoke upcycling service. Precious family pearls, perhaps from a grandmother’s necklace or a mother’s treasured crown, can be lovingly reimagined into modern jewellery or bespoke bridal hair accessories. This not only breathes new life into sentimental pieces but also ensures they remain part of your story, creating a deeply meaningful connection between past, present, and future.
