Calligraphy for your summer wedding, with By Moon & Tide

Published by Claire Gould on

When I’m not writing English Wedding, I’m writing place name cards and table plans! I’m Claire, and I’m a calligrapher. I’m also the editor of English Wedding (and I don’t show my face often on here!) But today I wanted to share some of the lovely wedding stationery and calligraphy I’ve been sending out to grooms and brides this spring.

It doesn’t feel like summer yet… but it must be just around the corner, right?

These mandarin orange wedding place names and seating plan cards have been so popular already this year. I love the colours for bringing summer into my little calligraphy studio! They’re currently flying all over the UK and I’ve had orders from Australia and The Netherlands too! Buy mandarin orange place cards here.

Collaborations with wedding photographers and other suppliers are the most exciting part of my wedding calligraphy work. These images by Lake District wedding photographer Tiree Dawson capture my personalised wedding vow booklets. The full photoshoot from Lakes venue Lindeth Fell is here, and it’s incredibly beautiful.

I loved making these blush place name cards. They double as escort cards – I can add table numbers or names as there’s plenty of space. I have my own wax seals here – playing with wax seals for wedding stationery is one of the best ways to spend a morning! These cards were designed for you to be creative with: I can add the names and send them with a space at the top for you to add your own wax seal, dried or pressed flowers, fresh herbs, tassels or other crafty touches!

Addressing envelopes for luxury weddings in calligraphy is one of my favourite projects. Time flies when I’m writing these – I can even skip breakfast without realising hours have passed, because I’m in the zone enjoying the calligraphy! (Most important meal of the day!)

I love these place names with calligraphy – they’re a really modern style and perfectly suited for city chic or country house weddings with a touch of elegance. Cards come in pale blush pink or soft almond, and there’s space to add a wax seal, silk ribbon etc. (I think the space looks gorgeous too!)

If you’re looking for a really special, personal touch for your wedding, I’d love to help. You’ll find my website with examples of my wedding calligraphy here. My online shop for wedding place cards is here.

I also write wedding readings and personalised poems as special keepsakes and wedding gifts. If you’d like to enquire about these, please get in touch via the contact page on my calligraphy website. I’d love to help!
