Exquisitely Gold Editorial
I do love a lazy Sunday. I even love the rain – it means I can do a bare minimum of cleaning then spend the day snuggling with my man and a book. And a hot chocolate… because y’know, winter! And the cherry on my snuggly little Sunday-cake is a beautiful wedding editorial… that luxury of scrolling through insta, finding a beautiful blog post and diving right in, absorbing all the loveliness and dreaming of a future wedding day. That’s my perfect Sunday right there, and I’m SO HAPPY to be sharing this with you lovelies today. Huge thank yous to our fabulous English Wedding members Jennifer Jane Photography and Keyleigh Marie Weddings for sharing with us. Aren’t they amazing?! With this shoot I wanted to take a classic theme and add a little injection of colour whilst still keeping the overall mood luxurious. Pure white weddings have been a classic for many couples for centuries. However, if you are looking to add a warmth of colour to your special day but still wish to keep the overall aesthetic and ambiance of your day timeless, adding some subtle accents of gold is a great way of doing this. A gold and white colour scheme will keep your day glamourous, elegant, and timeless and can be as subtle or wow as you like.
Décor and the finer details are a great way to add those pops of colour throughout your wedding planning journey and can set the theme from as early as sending out the invitations. We had beautiful gold and ivory invitations created using gold foil and calligraphy to keep the elegance flowing. These came with bespoke wax seals and matching place settings. The detailing was continued with the gorgeous big white floral installations, which consisted of signature roses and hydrangeas sat upon tall gold stands. These tall florals kept the luxurious atmosphere and are great for allowing your guests to converse over dinner easily.
Another great way to incorporate gold is the cake! We had a white and gold cake with gold leaf and elegant lace detail which made it feel so regal. The details were so intricate and really added to the wow factory. Another popular trend is desert tables, so we added some little extra treats to compliment the cake (such as cake pops and cookies). Not only do these give the guests something to talk about but to add variety to the otherwise traditional cake…although they all looked too good to eat!
When it comes to the all-important attire for the day gold sits really well when paired with ivory. We chose a stunning ivory, off the shoulder Mori Lee ballgown and added a beautifully bespoke hand-crafted gold crown which was just stunning.
In keeping with the rest of the day, the chairs for the ceremony and formal dinner were gold with white seat pads which not only looked the part but were another subtle way of keeping colour continuity throughout the day. For the tablescape, white plates were paired with gold cutlery and gold rimmed glassware which really set the table off when against the simplicity of the crisp white linen.
The takeaway point is whilst pure white weddings are beautiful if you are looking to add a pop of colour but still keep the atmosphere elegant and timeless – gold is a great complimentary colour to add. You can weave it throughout your day by incorporating it in all the finer details, and this will keep the overall aesthetic timeless and add luxury without making you shudder in years to come!
