structured wedding dress with boning from morilee bridal at TDR Bridal Halesowen

What’s more important to you right now: the outside of your wedding dress, or the inside?

Whether you’re a perfectly proportioned beauty or a curvy girl like me, your wedding dress has a very important job to do – it has to make you look your best all through your wedding day. Maybe that’s showing off all your best bits, perhaps it’s hiding some little insecurities. And yes, fabric and embellishments and finish and straps and sparkly bits are what we fall in love with when it comes to wedding dresses. But there’s more. And it’s what’s inside a dress that will make you feel amazing on your wedding day.

I had the loveliest chat with Rebecca from Birmingham bridal boutique TDR Bridal the other day, and learned about a million things about what’s inside a wedding dress, from boning to seams and how it all works to hold your dress in place and to make you feel incredible every second of your wedding day. Grab a cuppa – I want to share Rebecca’s passion and knowledge about wedding dress structure with you, and we’ll be here a few minutes!

I’m in love with today’s wedding. I’m in love with Gilly’s sparkly beautiful dress; I’m in love with the styling details and the story of Gilly and Den’s day. I’m in love with the gorgeous photography from lovely Hannah Larkin…. this is all just so wonderful and I have been ever so excited to share it with you! Before we dive into all the images though, I want to share something important with you.

Gilly told me she felt an enormous amount of pressure to have the most pinterest perfect styled wedding, because she thought that is what people would expect from her as a wedding planner. Den was amazing at keeping her grounded and reminding her that this was their day and they could do things however they liked.

I’m sharing this with you because Gilly and I both want to show that you can personalise your wedding too, so that your big day represents you as a couple. Don’t aim for perfect; instead, aim for a day which is personal, which says “THIS IS US!”

I couldn’t be happier with this week’s AMAZING weddings! Following yesterday’s stunning and colourful florals, today we’re going all white with the blooms, and including oodles of wonderful foliage – oh, and of COURSE we have the most insanely gorgeous couple: Joshua and Rebecca are just fabulous! That dress though…

“I have always been drawn to traditional wedding themes and feel like we managed to get a nice blend of classic wedding stylings with an element of whimsical floral touches. Being surrounded by flowers was my dream and one that we decided to spend more money on. Claire from LilyFee created a real life dream! I call her my fairy god mother. We went for white flowers and lots of foliage. I was desperate for a flower arch and we placed it to the entrance of the marque which was decorated with hanging foliage. I was able to work really closely with Claire and she really made my visions come to life, she is so talented!
