What’s more important to you right now: the outside of your wedding dress, or the inside?

Whether you’re a perfectly proportioned beauty or a curvy girl like me, your wedding dress has a very important job to do – it has to make you look your best all through your wedding day. Maybe that’s showing off all your best bits, perhaps it’s hiding some little insecurities. And yes, fabric and embellishments and finish and straps and sparkly bits are what we fall in love with when it comes to wedding dresses. But there’s more. And it’s what’s inside a dress that will make you feel amazing on your wedding day.

I had the loveliest chat with Rebecca from Birmingham bridal boutique TDR Bridal the other day, and learned about a million things about what’s inside a wedding dress, from boning to seams and how it all works to hold your dress in place and to make you feel incredible every second of your wedding day. Grab a cuppa – I want to share Rebecca’s passion and knowledge about wedding dress structure with you, and we’ll be here a few minutes!

There’s nothing like that feeling, on your wedding day, of wearing your once-in-a-lifetime dress and saying ‘I do’ before all of your family and friends. It’s the most incredible, dream come true kind of sensation – absolute bliss and joy and love. That’s why your wedding dress won’t be “just a dress”. It’ll be so very much more.

A wedding dress represents everything about your wedding. Look at your dress on its hanger when it’s in your home, days before your wedding and you’ll see more than just a beautiful gown. You’ll feel that shiver of excitement, anticipation and even a little overwhelm as you picture the wedding day to come. You’ll look at your wedding dress and see the love in your groom or bride’s face as you walk towards them to say your vows. That dress is about the two of you. It’s about your day and it carries all of the joy in every tiny detail.

As we find ourselves in a situation we could never have dreamed would ever happen, the coming together of the wedding industry has been immense, heartwarming and wonderful. This piece by Rebecca at TDR Bridal is a must-read right to the end, lovelies.

With love,

So I had been watching this cruel, incomprehensible disease rage through the world, slowly at first then gaining momentum hoping and praying it would never, surely reach the UK? How wrong was I?

On Saturday 21st March, at the end of a very busy day, I remember looking at my girls and thinking, I can’t honestly say for the first time ever, I’ve got your backs, you’re safe with me, I am doing my best for you.

I went home that night, knowing I had to make a decision, probably one of the hardest I have ever had to make as a Bridal Shop owner, but sometimes doing the right thing can also be the hardest thing.

I think it’s my lucky week. I mean it MUST be – the weddings and shoots we’re sharing are insanely pretty! Then there’s my inbox – and the features we have coming up (with yet more amazing couples) are so exciting! Pinch me, someone! ? … anyways, today we have the BREATHTAKING wedding of Sophie & Elliot, who said their I dos at Sophie’s folks house, with a sperry tent from Papakata providing the loveliest backdrop to their day. Their June wedding was the perfect English country garden celebration (hats off to actually being in an actual English country garden, guys!) with styling and florals vibrant and exotic – even including the food! Sophie’s dress is a bespoke design from English Wedding members TDR Bridal – it’s stunning and she looks incredible.

The floral installations are by Pip Holland – Sophie and Elliot’s friend and a florist. Pip worked with her team around the clock for 4 days leading up to the wedding creating a topical paradise. Each table had an individual arrangement, then there was a flower arch and a large ring above the circular bar. All of the bridesmaids had flower rings instead of bouquets and the ring bearer (Sophie & Elliot’s dog!) looks adorable in a flower garland!
