Today’s real wedding is romantic, feminine and oh so pretty – the kind of wedding so many girls dream of, brought to life with a wonderfully elegant style. Beautiful bride Amy’s dress is divine – I adore the palest pink hue which works beautifully with the bridesmaids’ soft grey dresses. Words and images are by our lovely sponsor, Somerset wedding photographer Sandy at Love In Focus.

Getting to shoot any Somerset wedding photography on a bright and sunny day is one of the many upsides of my job – so getting to photograph a wedding at Aldwick Court Farm on a bright and sunny day is just about as good as this job gets! Amy and Ben chose the perfect venue for their spring wedding.

On the day I arrived at Amy’s parents’ house in Bristol to take some shots of Amy as she got ready for the day. Amy looked amazing in her dress with beautiful lace detail and chiffon on the skirt that gave her a wonderful silhouette.

Gorgeous summer florals for a Pendley Manor wedding with Nicola Norton Photography (35)
FEATURED

Is anyone else dreaming of summer breezes and pretty country flowers already? I know I’m a little early… but already we’re planning blog features for late spring and I’m excited to see long, golden wedding days on my screen again! Let’s spoil ourselves this cold Wednesday morning and pretend we’re back in July with gorgeous Alex & Jamie’s wedding, shall we?

The venue was Pendley Manor, a magnificent country home with 33 4-poster bedrooms and expanses of immaculate lawns and landscaped gardens. The hotel is grade II listed and set in 35 acres of beautifully landscaped and wooded parkland close to the picturesque Hertfordshire town of Tring.

Alex chose pretty daisies as the key flower for the nine bridesmaids bouquets, which I think looks really lovely with a touch of gypsophila. For her own bouquet she added bright summery flowers:  – lisianthus and pale pink roses along with the softest blue delphiniums. Overall styling was sweet and simple – feather-shaped kraft place names stamped with guests’ names, and more summer garden flowers on the tables. I LOVE the milk churns full of flowers outside the church, don’t you?

Alternative, eclectic, beautifully relaxed wedding by Inbetween Days Photography (33)

I know a lot of guys who’d agree with me that Rushia and David’s wedding is damn near perfect. There’s a bathtub full of cold Budweiser bottles, a chilled out firepit, music, a BBQ buffet – the groom looks awesome in a skull patterned waistcoat and his groomsmen are rocking very cool, mismatched (ie their own) suits! Of course perfection comes from having such a beautiful bride with the prettiest bouquet, gorgeous Sophia Tolli dress and bridesmaids in pink sparkly dresses… this is a really amazing wedding and I just know you’re going to love it! Watch out for creatively-named place settings(!), vintage vehicles and a confetti cannon!

We had Capri tents and the styling was key to making it feel cosy and comfortable! I made some signs for the wedding using calligraphy and I absolutely loved doing it! I also made the place names and favours. A good friend of mine did two huge chalk boards for us: one the order of the day and the other the table plan. We didn’t really have a theme, but I knew I wanted pale pink bridesmaid dresses so that would be our main colour and white. We had lovely invitations with foliage around the edge so we incorporated this in to the wedding, decorating the tents with huge tree branches.

Elegant and fun Madingley Hall wedding with Ayshea Goldberg Photography (12)

Hey lovelies! I’m so happy to be sharing such beautiful inspiration with you this week – I like to think I save the best until last and this year we’re celebrating December in style!! Today’s wedding combines historic elegance with lots of fun touches and a secret theme of Jane Austen – gorgeous bride and groom Bex and John had Jane Austen photo props and did their first dance as the dance from the BBC version of Pride and Prejudice!! How awesome is that? Images are by our lovely friend and sponsor Ayshea Goldberg Photography, who gets the loveliest review from the happy couple (just a couple of paragraphs on…)

The Tudor hall at Madingley was so historic and beautiful. We personalised the Saloon Room with lots of photos of us and our family and friends. Our florist added incredible flower garlands to the staircases and the top table. We reused ivy garlands from the church over the grand fireplace and used the bridesmaids bouquets in pint glasses on the tables! My sister put together boxes of goodies for the bathrooms – facewipes, safety pins, chewing gum, nice soap and hand cream. They were such a lovely touch.

As you can see from the images today’s elegant outdoor wedding was super chilled and pretty! Gorgeous bride Hannah designed all of the wedding details as she is a graphic designer. Hannah & Sami’s Mum Ann made the incredible golden drip wedding cake covered in macarons together!

Hannah & Sami celebrated their wedding and reception at Rowhill Grange in Kent, they had an absolutely incredible outdoor ceremony followed by drinks and canapés on the lawn & reception in the stunningly decorated reception room in the clock tower. Hannah’s classic and stunning wedding gown is from Hayley Elizabeth Bridal in Orpington. Her bridesmaids wear dresses from Jarlo London. Sami and the groomsmen wore suits by Richard Mark Menswear.

Chic Weddings supplied our flowers and decorations. They were amazing the whole way through from initial consultation to final arrangements on the day. Lots of our decorations got moved around and utilized again where they could, our lavender and thyme pots even became the wedding favours! One of our favourite parts of the decor was the fairy lights that sat behind our top round table, setting the scene for the dinner and lit the dance floor!

Sam is an old friend, who has been taking really lovely wedding photos for the past couple of years. We knew he would be right for it: intelligent, with a great eye, and he would be a lovely presence at the wedding, as well as understanding what we wanted.

We were overjoyed with Sam. His pictures are spontaneous, detailed and full of joy. We spoke to him and gave him some ideas, which he totally got. Everyone at the wedding found him unobtrusive, fun and friendly, and he never made anyone feel like they were being marched around for photographs. But he did suggest some ideas to us which we are really glad about. His pictures have brought wonderful reactions from friends and family, and we love them.

French destination wedding images by Chris Bird (28)

Today’s gorgeous bride and groom chose a destination wedding in the Champagne region of France. Their August wedding was held at Chateau de Mairy, in the small village of Mairy Sur Marne. I love the bright sunflowers and relaxed atmosphere of their day – it all looks so sunny and beautiful!

The venue itself did not need much decoration however the marquee that we used for the evening reception required lots! We did most of the decoration ourselves but had some added items, such as the large wine barrels and candle holders, from And Then We Got Married. My favourite was probably the jam jars that we used for flowers as well as tea lights and the polaroid station/guestbook. I enjoyed every moment of crafting the homemade elements and seeing everything in place the day before the wedding made it all worth while. Lots of our guests commented on how each detail of the day included an element of our personality. It was our goal from the start to ensure our wedding day was as personal to us as possible.

Indian fusion wedding with theatre theme (3)

Personalising your wedding can include as many or as few aspects of yourselves as you’d like… for Vicky and Sachin, they chose to include so many things they loved, and their day was full of fun and special touches because of it!

Indian fusion wedding with theatre theme (3)

On the Friday they had a Hindu ceremony to celebrate Sachin’s heritage and traditions, then on the Sunday they had their Anglo-Asian fusion wedding (which we’re sharing with you lovely folks today). Photographer Ayshea Goldberg told me it was amazing! “They spent a lot of time and effort making this incredible. Vicky got ready at her family home and then they married in her family’s village church, then headed back to the home for a marquee in the garden celebration. The colour scheme was rich golds and reds and the tables were decorated and named for productions that have a close connection with Vicky – she’s an actress! She and Sachin work so well together and their families are brilliant. They did an incredible entrance to the wedding breakfast with Vicky and Sachin’s brothers, and each set of parents coming in to their choice of song, and then Vicky and Sachin coming in to Led Zeppelin – Whole lotta love. It was awesome and they all got a standing ovation before the speeches even started.”

Eclectic details for a homemade wedding near Bath, with Heather Birnie Photography (3)

The more I look at this gorgeous couple’s photos, the more I love everything about their day. It’s wonderfully casual, massively fun and full of the best homemade touches by talented friends and family. Tess and Ben got married near Bath and well and truly demonstrate what can be done for a wedding on a high street budget. Tess looks stunning in a bridal jumpsuit from Anthropologie and goes barefoot with anklets from India for the ceremony until putting on her white Nike Air Max 90s later in the day. Her hair and makeup was provided by Faye O’Connell.

Tess and Ben’s ceremony was non-religious and borrowed from Humanist and Pagan Land Blessings, and was held in a marquee in Ben’s parent’s back garden in Colerne. Signs painted by Sarah-Jane Griffey led guests to the wedding and their order of service was designed by Donna Sarah. The marquee, chairs and fairy lights were provided by Bath Marquee Company and dressed with bunting from the Event Flag Hire Company and flowers (as well as bouquets and button holes) by Electric Daisy Flower Farm. In the evening, local company Rye Bakery cooked wood fired pizza on site and served to guests.

Stunning Cheshire farm wedding ideas from Jess Yarwood Photography (14)

Today’s beautiful celebrations are properly at home on gorgeous bride Jodie and Ed’s family farm. Huge thanks to English Wedding Directory member Jess Yarwood Photography for her wonderful images – Jodie describes their wedding as “the most precious love-filled day of our lives” and I think her description fits it perfectly!

Stunning Cheshire farm wedding ideas from Jess Yarwood Photography (14)

Our wedding followed a rustic traditional theme styled around our farming lives. From the tractor which Ed drove us home from church on to horseshoes and little sheep on every table and straw bales scattered everywhere we made the theme about us and our lives. There were abundance of pink and white flowers, greenery, and cut logs inside and outside the marquee.

My advice for other couples? Enjoy the wedding planning – it really is a long process not to, and don’t get yourself worried or upset over things you can’t afford or couldn’t have. Your wedding will be the best day of your life no matter what, where and how it happens!

Pretty signage and a subtle Game of Thrones theme for Rosie and Allan's Canterbury wedding. Lucie Watson Photography (31)

Today’s gorgeous and relaxed family wedding took place at the end of August in the countryside of Canterbury. The church was a 5 minute walk from Rosie’s family home where she held the reception. I love how they’ve incorporated Game of Thrones into their day with subtle little details – and it all looks fabulous!

My Dad made the table plan, order of the day and chopped all the wood from a tree in the garden for the centre pieces. My Mum and brother made all the origami name places. We had a naked cake as this worked well with the theme of the day. My very talented Mum made it and it was amazing! Allan and I made all the signage.

It was a real family effort, we all enjoyed it and it made it personal.

The perfect intimate wedding in Hampshire with Lemontree Photography (9)

I stumbled across this gorgeous Hampshire wedding on the blog of Lemontree Photography – and totally loved everything about it. Sarah and Iain are gorgeous – their day is so perfectly charming I had to get in touch with Az at Lemontree and ask if we could share their images with you today. Lucky for me, he said yes, and Sarah and Iain have been lovely in sharing some of the details of their planning with you too!

We just wanted a relaxed atmosphere where people could be at ease. One of the reasons that we chose Penton Park was because it offered guests the chance to dance, stay at the bar, play snooker, have a go at some garden games or just relax in the sitting room or the swing seat in the grounds.

We researched online and loved Az’s pictures. We were extremely pleased with his work. What attracted us to Az’s pictures was the relaxed feel: there were very few staged shots. He has an amazing ability to capture people just having a good time. Az put us at ease on the day and was lovely to have at our wedding!
