If you love colour and are searching for styling ideas for your wedding which are a little more interesting than most, today’s gorgeous wedding is perfect! The multicoloured hanging lanterns are spellbinding – alongside Alison’s ribbon decorations and pretty DIY touches, they make for a fabulous theme and colour palette!

“Our wedding was exactly what we wanted. Styling was colourful but simple. I love tulips so was set on these as my flowers. I pinned a lot of rustic type things but decided to put my own spin on things with colourful ribbon instead of twine and string.

Matara is beautiful and the hilarium is an amazing space to decorate. We decided on paper lanterns to hang along the aisle and in the dome and I didn’t want chair covers as chairs were lovely so we decided to hang ribbon on the backs to make it more interesting. The hilarium also has a gorgeous wall of fairy lights!

Today’s pretty celebration is very much up my street as I adore smaller weddings. And the little mice, sausage dog and all the carefully crafted little autumnal touches throughout the day make this a fabulous feature to start our week! Sophie is absolutely gorgeous and gives an amazing review for Che Birch Hayes Photography (Herefordshire) which you’ll find just below the photos.

“Our venue is so beautiful it didn’t need much but we wanted to make it personal so we put quite a bit of thought and effort into making it special. My mum has a great eye for these things so was a great help in this department, she knows my taste well.

Organising and planning is one of my favourite things to do so Matthew said at the beginning, ‘you sort it and tell me where and when to be there and I will be’! He did enjoy helping chose the menu options though, for some reason he is more opinionated on food than fairy lights!

We call it ‘liquid sunshine’ here in the Lake District – a ‘very British’ kind of weather which seems to put on a special show every Saturday in wedding season! Time and time again I’ve heard the advice that even if it rains on your wedding day, you shouldn’t worry. Many of my photographer friends tell me they keep one eye on the weather because it never rains all day long. There’s always a break in the clouds; a moment when an eagle-eyed photographer will whisper in your ears that there’s golden sunshine outside… your chance to get some beautiful wedding day portraits to last a lifetime.

Today’s beautiful Somerset wedding is a perfect example. Yes, there’s a bit of rain to contend with – but it doesn’t spoil the pics: it adds to the story of Victoria and Adam’s day.

The details of the day are sublime: Victoria’s dress is beautiful, I love Adam’s suit (I’m sure we’ll be seeing more like this in the next couple of years: dinner jackets are a big US wedding trend) – and the styling is elegant and exquisite.

I feel as though I’ve been on a journey with gypsophila – baby’s breath – over the years. In the early days of the English Wedding Blog it was a little-known bridal flower. Then with the vintage trend and especially with more DIY and budget weddings, it became the go-to flower for styled shoots and a perfect complement to the jam jars, hessian and lace look. And then, it plummeted from favour right along with chair covers and sugared almonds!!

One leading wedding florist who I discovered on Instagram a few weeks ago hates gypsophila so much he’d like to ban it from weddings! (Does anyone know who this guy is?! I’ve lost the link to his account and his opinions made for a great read!) Now, this comes across as a little extreme. I asked my wedding supplier friends if they agreed with him: is gypsophila totally over as a wedding flower, or is it something we can reinvent and fall back in love with for 2017?

Words I would use to describe this shoot are glamorous, gothic, chic, romantic, feminine, and dramatic. Delicate fabrics with lots of fine details and soft flowing layers. Dark and striking make up looks; curls and waves in simple but stunning styles. Elegant and spectacularly detailed cakes and hand drawn calligraphy. All in a colour palette of deep, passionate reds and burgundy mixed with greys, gold and subtle pinks. Heaven!

Carlton Towers is an incredible country house sitting in 250 acres of Yorkshire parkland. The grand Victorian exterior has a definite Downton Abbey feel to it, with a touch of Hogwarts magic! Inside all of the rooms are stunning, from the phenomenal ceilings and brass chandeliers, to the elaborately carved woodwork and fireplaces.

Today’s wedding is just brilliant. There are images I’m longing to show you which I simply daren’t… let’s just say Kim and Simon’s wedding day was full of laughter from the very beginning – and those Chinese pre-wedding customs are as harsh (hardcore?!) as they are hilarious! You’ll have to visit the full feature-length blog post to discover why I’m saving their blushes… meanwhile though, here are some of the most beautiful images to begin today’s incredible real wedding on the blog. I hope you love them as much as I do!

“These are unbelievable, you guys have captured the day beautifully! Your incredible level of attention to detail and unique perspective has allowed us to revisit all of it and really savour every moment both big and small. These are a breathtaking memento of a very special day, and I am sure both of our families will cherish these for a very long time, I am certain that both Kim and I will! We wanted to say thanks again, not only for your amazing results, but also the way in which you and the guys do what you do – it was a pleasure to have had you there on the day and it is our privilege to have had you as our photographers.” – Simon & Kim

Weddings full of personality are the absolute best! Today’s gorgeous bride and groom had a relaxed, outdoor/festival style theme and being big cider lovers they incorporated this into the day. I adore the sunflowers and mixed wildflower bouquet and table arrangements – they add fun and sunshine in the loveliest way ever! And isn’t Nicola beautiful? Honestly, such a gorgeous couple and I’m thrilled to be sharing their wedding with you all today!

“We were privileged to have Kirsty Andrews from Escential Blooms do our flowers. An absolutely fantastic lady who is so great to work with and brings your ideas to life. We wanted wild flowers and Kirsty used those that were in season at the time. We didn’t want a set colour theme and Kirsty listened to this and used so many different colours with a range of beautiful smells! From the wedding arbour to the tables and the addition of flowers to the cake and table plan. Even some for my hair. Just stunning!

Today’s gorgeous couple Hannah and Tom had plans for a gorgeous outdoor ceremony at Sibton Park… and the sun shone until the very last minute, when it poured. Not to be outdone, they brought everything inside and had a cosy, magical ceremony and celebration indoors. I love the smiles, the laughter, the ‘we’re all in this together‘ spirit of the day, and I simply had to share this wedding with you.

“Our venue wasn’t a wedding venue. It is a country house that you hire to stay in. We just hosted a wedding while we were staying there. This meant I had to arrange getting EVERYTHING for the wedding in so all decorating was done by us. It did mean that it was unique to us and we were able to choose just what we wanted. Sibton Park had had a handful of weddings there before us and the house staff were incredibly helpful. They have since become a bit more of a “wedding venue”.”

I LOVE all the details of this wedding… the dried flowers, Thomas’s suit (I love it when a groom wears something different to the norm) and Danielle is just so beautiful – welcome to the wedding of a fabulous couple whose gorgeous wedding DIY and wonderful wedding planning advice will inspire you so, so much!

We were looking for a candid, informal approach to our photography. Someone who could capture all the emotion of the day as naturally as possible, someone that we felt comfortable to be around, and who was also affordable! After researching for many hours at countless websites and suppliers, we came across Damian. We liked the look of his work online and his portfolios, so we contacted him for further details. After meeting him at our home, we knew instantly he was our photographer!

You don’t need 100 or more people to watch him put a ring on your finger. You don’t need the stress of a wedding table plan, huge corkage fees or to spend your day in a crowd of distant cousins. All you really need is you. Intimate weddings with only a handful of guests are my favourite, and beautiful bride Liz and Richard’s day is simply perfect. Don’t you just love that Jenny Packham dress?

“We looked for Kent based photographers online and after looking through a lot of photography we came across Helen’s website and we knew it was the relaxed style we wanted. We contacted Helen to arrange meeting her at a wedding fayre and we instantly clicked – we knew she’d be great at blending in and capturing our special moments.

I love it when a photoshoot like this sends me tumbling head over heels with a flower I never knew could be so lush, opulent and beautiful. Today’s feature is glamorous, brooding and alternative – and breathtaking. Huge thanks to lovely Grace Hill for sharing her dream with us today!

When you have a beautiful married couple and 800 carnation stems, what do you do? You throw on a styled wedding at Captains Wood Barn, of course!

Within three months, I managed to put together my first styled shoot, a dark romantic authentic vintage wedding, with some absolutely fabulous vendors, all relatively local to the area, in Colchester, Essex.

We decided that there would be no gypsophila, or light and airy style with big boho flower crowns – something which seems to be so in fashion at present. Instead, in came 800 gorgeous, punchy carnations in all hues of reds, purples, magentas and creams, a beautiful lace gown, vintage and reclaimed furniture, crockery and even jewellery, a venue situated within acres of picturesque Essex countryside, a horse called Roxy and a very much in love couple.

I thought we’d end the bank holiday weekend with something insanely beautiful. One peek at today’s wedding and you will be hooked!! (Oh – I have to quickly remind all of you lovely wedding suppliers that today is the last day to join the English Wedding Directory for just £30 – click here to find out how!) And now for our incredible wedding… bride Esha is stunning!!! I adore both of her wedding dresses (the red evening dress is a knockout!), her hair and beautiful henna and the bouquet is breathtaking! – and Rehan’s whole look is wonderful (the detailing and embroidery on his jacket is fabulous. More grooms should look this good!!) It’s a fantastic day with amazing details – there is so much here to inspire you, I just can’t stop looking through all of the beautiful pictures.

Stunning, vibrant wedding ideas from Sezincote House in Gloucestershire with Luke Hayden Photography (11)
“When it came to planning the wedding, I spent a lot of time Googling suppliers and getting inspiration from Pinterest. I had a clear vision of what I wanted and so set about creating boards which helped me to visualise and share the look with suppliers. I have lots of creatives in my family, and so I pulled them in to help make personalised decorations with the theme in mind. I cannot thank them enough for their help!
