Hey lovelies! I hope you’re all really well and avoiding today’s rain!! I’m teaching a calligraphy workshop this afternoon, but before I go I have something really special for you today – a gorgeous wedding with striking and beautiful styling touches in a fabulous old mill. Gorgeous grooms Martin and Paul were married in the autumn, and chose The West Mill Venue for their ceremony and reception – and it’s just perfect. Unforgettably perfect, as the guys told me… and from the pics I couldn’t agree more.

These two rocked their day in the very best way imaginable. Their suits are from Australian tailors Oscar Hunt – and they’re gorgeous! I love the pale blue, teamed with autumnal brown and vibrant orange accents – they look amazing and the guys loved them! Styling touches include elegant vintage suitcases, vibrant autumn florals, effortlessly chic display areas with maps and the most adorable cake topper. I’d love to see Pinterest go crazy for this wedding – it’s a stunner and I hope you all love it as much as I do!

Kate and Jack’s beautiful homespun wedding was photographed by Kindred Photography, and stole my heart with its gorgeous wildflower meadows, cute dog and epic tipis!

The atmosphere of the day shines from the photos – this is how a wedding in a wildflower meadow should be. Love and laughter, pretty florals and simple, homely styling with a focus on having the best party of your lives! And aren’t Kate and Jack just the loveliest couple?

For us we were looking to find someone who would go the extra mile to capture the real essence and emotion of the day in a very natural way rather than the more traditional often cliché shots and so finding the perfect team took a lot of time and research, mainly through personal recommendations and social media.  Through previous experience of family weddings we were also keen to have a video and so it was important to find someone who could do both.

What an amazing wedding this is – I’m so excited to share this wonderful day with you! The dried flowers are fabulous as far as details go, and I love Gemma & Christian to bits – their gorgeous smiles make this an unmissable day, it’s perfect for the blog!

Everything about Gemma & Christians wedding was super – from the traditional church wedding, to the dried floral headpieces, to the rustic DIY Barn with hay bales as walls, to the afternoon tea wedding breakfast!

Mine and my bridesmaids hair pieces were real dried vintage flowers, handmade, and into a headband for myself and three matching combs for my bridesmaids – the supplier was Folky Dokey. Very unique and again fitted the whole theme perfectly, carrrying the vintage style throughout. My shoes were my favourite shoe brand – Irregular Choice. They were lacy and slightly vintage to match my theme. I loved them. One of my bridesmaids bought me my blue garter and I carried a butterfly brooch on my bouquet from a close family friend who had recently passed away before the wedding, which was a lovely touch and felt very special for me to have close by.

I love this wedding – Emma and Sean share my taste in books so their table names are just fabulous! They’re a gorgeous couple too – and the details of their day are wonderful.

“I made all of our wedding stationery myself, but I bought everything from The Range and Hobbycraft – with the exception of a copy of ‘Captain Corelli’s Mandolin’ (my favourite book) which I bought from a charity shop, and which featured on every invitation, the table plan, all the signs, the guestbook and the confetti on the tables!”

I totally fell in love with my wedding dress, which was by Charlotte Balbier from The Wedding Room, Chilwell. I tried it on once, thought it might be a bit OTT, so didn’t buy it, but then couldn’t stop thinking about it and so I went in the next day and bought it!

Lovely John Mottershaw is lucky enough to live in the beautiful Peak District national park, one of England’s most breathtaking landscapes. I was born there; it’s a place close to my heart and one I’d love to explore more – so I’m happy to say we’ll be featuring some glorious Peak District weddings over the next few months, thanks to John and his gorgeous brides and grooms!

John Mottershaw Photography has a refreshingly informal approach compared with other wedding photographers:

I believe the photography should be an enjoyable part of the wedding and I aim to make the actual taking of the photographs as special as I want the photographs themselves to be. This is important to me in creating story-telling that is a treasured souvenir of your wonderful day.

From his base in the Peak District, close to Chesterfield and Sheffield, John enjoys travelling to weddings all around the UK. He told me his is a family business: there has been a wedding photographer in the Mottershaw family for many decades and their love of photography dates back as far as 1870!

Words aren’t really enough sometimes… today’s wedding is more beautiful than any dictionary could ever define: a glorious celebration in fabulous style. Bryony and Richard were married at Hassop Hall in the autumn, and their day is breathtaking.

Images are by Sheffield wedding photographer John Mottershaw, who told me this wedding is one he’ll remember for its colours: “Autumn colours in beautiful sunshine combined with the slightly unusual colours of their outfits (Bryony made her own dress) all worked together to make this wedding a visual treat. A good looking, fun couple, Bryony and Richard were great to work with.

My family is from Derbyshire and so I know the wonderful contours of the Peak District rather well… and it’s one of the loveliest parts of England to be married: the mountains and moorlands are an incredible place to explore. Bryony and Richard were married at Hathersage Church and held their reception at Hassop Hall – one of my favourite Derbyshire wedding venues.Claire

Kate and David’s wedding is beautiful, perfect… the dream summer wedding at a venue I know is a pretty special place (my cousin was married here!) – and they have the loveliest images to remember it by, from John Mottershaw Photography and with my friend Carol Elizabeth Photography as his second shooter on the day. “We ended up having 2-4-1 on the wedding day as John brought in Carol as an extra pair of hands, so we were very lucky! They both fitted in so well with the guests and you barely noticed they were there snapping away.”

“We were both so pleased when we came across Charlotte’s boutiqueShe was completely different to other boutiques. We sat down while we filled in a questionnaire like what was my budget and what sort of designers I liked etc. and then I just started trying on dresses that she would pick out for me. She would then use the feedback I had on certain dresses to then pick out the next dress. Until finally I found the one! I knew it was perfect from the moment I tried it on.”

Earlier this month we featured gorgeous couple Laura & Chris’s wedding from Shottle Hall, in Derbyshire. I fell in love with the wedding breakfast rooms and the grounds of the place as soon as I saw their images – and it’s taken me a few weeks to find out more to tell you about one of Derbyshire’s premier wedding venues. Images are all by lovely Jon Cripwell Photography.

Shottle Hall is a stately home near Belper, set in its own enchanting gardens and is available as an exclusive use wedding venue. It’s licensed for ceremonies so you can wake up, get married, celebrate and sleep all under one fabulous roof. What I love most about this place is it’s flexible: Laura told me Shottle Hall didn’t impose restrictions on catering, for example, so they served mini cupcakes instead of canapés before the wedding breakfast – which is awesome.

Today’s fabulously beautiful wedding is going to be a favourite for 2016 – I can see it now. The handcrafted touches are wonderful, and I am SO impressed with gorgeous bride Laura’s lettering and wedding signs! (I’m teaching a calligraphy workshop today and seeing people learn to write like this is one of my favourite things!)

Chris and Laura planned their wedding over 2 years: “Having such a long time to plan the wedding had its pros and cons. We had time to source amazing suppliers and spend hours swooning over gorgeous weddings. However, I did get slightly overwhelmed with the sheer volume of wonderful ideas out there.”

The flowers are another huge highlight of the day:I spent a long time searching the internet for a local florist that created wedding flowers that had a bohemian, unstructured feel to them. Helen from The Flower Mill completely saw my vision for the flowers. They just pulled everything together and were definitely the focal point we were looking for!”

So I asked Lizzie and Paul if they could describe their wedding in 10 words or fewer… and their response was simply, “wow, this is hard”!… which made me smile. Their wedding is lovely, beautifully styled and full of gorgeous moments – there are too many to count.

Today’s incredibly beautiful bride and gorgeous groom were married in Derbyshire in August. They chose Callow Hall as their reception venue, and I’m thrilled to be able to feature their day on the English Wedding Blog.

Images are by lovely Simon Dewey Photography, who describes their day as “a treat. A lovely couple. A gorgeous dress. Traditional scottish attire. And some georgous light and landscape to capture it all in. Lizzie and Paul had exlusive use of the hall and grounds, a drinks reception in the secret garden, followed by a meal and dancing the night away with their guests in the marquee overlooking the Derbyshire landscape. It was a truly special occasion.”

I’ll never forget my local independent record store – it’s long gone now but Pink Panther in Carlisle was my favourite place to spend a Saturday afternoon, back in the day. I love people who are passionate about music – so Lisa and Lawrence stole my heart and soul with their amazing music-themed wedding in Derbyshire.

Today’s gorgeous bride and groom met at a gig, and have been to so many concerts together they used their tickets in framed displays to decorate their wedding marquee! Their stationery is creative, fun and inspiring: vinyl, cassettes and CDs all make an appearance.

The bride and groom are gorgeous – Lisa’s smile never stops; Lawrence is proud as punch and looks fab in his Paul Smith suit. But today is all about the party: “good times and killer music” being the most important thing for our lovely couple. Of course the live music on the day was a highlight: Guerrilla Radio even “brought the inner gangster out of 75 year old Uncle Pat!

I just don’t know where to begin… the fabulous details, tipis stuffed with flowers and lanterns and soft, warm lighting? Or maybe the charming outdoor ceremony and nervous excitement shining from today’s couple’s eyes… There’s just so much romance and rustic charm in today’s tipi wedding I’m dying to show you!

Mark and Chris planned their wedding in just 6 months, and saved money by recruiting friends and family to help out: “Where you can make things yourself or find someone to do it for you, do… it adds a real personal touch and it’s half the price.” This meant they could afford a fabulous venue, wedding planner and photographer… and I’m so thrilled they did!
