Gemma and Mike set the scene for their day by sending all of their guests gold tickets wrapped in chocolate bars as invitations. And this won my heart from the second I knew – they sound fabulous! Their day was themed around Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, with lots of lovely touches bringing the theme to life and some STUNNING portraits which take my breath away.

I asked Gemma to share her best advice with all of you lovely brides and grooms out there: “Don’t get stressed out about the wedding, and make sure you have the day that YOU want. You don’t always have to please everyone else.”

And after the day? What’s the best thing about being married? “Knowing that we are both really happy, and looking forward to what our next adventure is.” How lovely is that?

Happy Wednesday everyone! Today I have a properly, charmingly, adorably English wedding to share with you all! Tracey and Garry’s afternoon tea wedding caught my eye for their fabulous portraits, the bouquet, the vintage camper and how gorgeous they both look. I always say a great clue to how well a wedding will fit the blog is what the groom is wearing… and I love Garry’s smart but relaxed look. Tracey, of course, looks absolutely stunning.

We wanted a wedding that was personal to us and exactly how we wanted it so we saved so much money by doing everything ourselves instead of paying someone else to do it for us. We shopped around for all of the decorations for the hall, bought all of the crockery by scouring boot sales, charity shops and ebay, bought items from B&M which we then personalised, bought fresh flowers from a local market seller which a friend kindly turned into the church and table displays.

Morning lovely! It’s real wedding time… and you’re going to love today’s venue idea as much as the gorgeous bride and groom and their brilliant snippets of advice! This is a wedding with simple, rustic and carefully considered details which all work together beautifully. The venue – an unusual but excellent choice: Avoncroft Museum of Historic Buildings, in Worcestershire. It has a miniature train… what more could you need?! The venue is also a charity, which makes it a pretty special place to have your wedding.

Images are by lovely Dave Allen of Just Hitched Wedding Photography. When Dave first got in touch he’d said “These childhood sweethearts really do show what loving someone is all about. Along with their lovely friends and family, who made me feel truly welcomed and part of their fabulous wedding day” – isn’t that wonderful?

Morning lovelies! I’ve been so excited to show you Verity and Darren’s charmingly elegant English wedding. They were married at Gosfield Hall in the Essex countryside and really made the most of their luxury venue. The flowers are fabulous – simple pink and cream roses with a peony tucked in the middle. Verity looks amazing in a beautiful lace dress with a sash, and Darren her very handsome groom.

The happy couple chose Dave Allen at Just Hitched Photography to capture their day, and he did a brilliant job! Dave says, “These two people are so lovely, the way they are together is beautiful. They both adore each other which is clear to see from the way their eyes just drift away into somewhere wonderful when they look at each other and then the smile comes. I’m so happy for Verity and Darren and I wish them all the very best for the future.

Morning! Today’s wedding is a little special – it’s not the first time gorgeous bride Sarah has featured on a wedding blog… in fact she’s been on the English Wedding Blog very recently! As a wedding photographer Sarah sees so many weddings – and like many in the wedding industry she chose to do things differently. Her dress was made for her, and inspired by a genuine vintage dress she’d found on Pinterest. Stuart wore jeans, which I think is the best thing ever (Sarah adds that they had to be nice jeans!) and their florist Sarah Jones came up with the vintage medical theme incorporating lots of wonderful little glass bottles with flowers!

There’s so much to this wedding that makes me smile: the gorgeous images and Sarah’s beautiful smile – the portrait photos of today’s lovely couple are just wonderful. Then there’s the vintage medical theme, which is genius! Stuart and Sarah had vintage medical equipment (yes!), those lovely bottles and also lots of books… and who wouldn’t enjoy sitting down at a wedding reception and dipping into 1950s books about anatomy for nurses?! Brilliant!

I do love a venue with character, don’t you? Pretty blank canvas spaces are all well and good, but show me somewhere with a stage, balconies, pillars and old world charm… and I’m sold! Today’s wedding from Salomon’s Estate in Tunbridge Wells is unique, exciting and beautifully photographed by our friend and sponsor lovely Penny Young Photography. Amy is such a stunning bride; Carl her perfect match – and oh, those flowers too!

Carl hand made the giant ROPE letter lights over a few weeks, and they were popular with our guests and us – he enjoyed making them, and we had a bit of help from a few friends to finish them off, but when they turned into Disco lights in the evening it was great to see our new “name in lights” so to speak!

Happy weekend!! Oh, this one’s been a long time coming… we’re heading out to the Lakes for adventures today, but I had to share this gorgeous wedding with you first! Beautiful bride Sarah and gorgeous hubby’s Rob’s big day was in Worcestershire, with the reception in a 15th century barn (The Fleece Inn, Bretforton). I love the warm atmosphere of their day which just shines in all the photos – Sarah’s smile and oh, that dress!!!

“Our flowers were done by my amazingly talented cousin Anna who runs a floristry business called ‘Wedding flowers in Cornwall’. We wanted to incorporate thistles into our flowers as we got engaged in Scotland. (Rob proposal on a secluded beach in Dunbar, incidentally my new married name). We went primarily for white flowers with sand roses to highlight in my bouquet and lots of greenery. We also had white gladioli in the church hanging downwards that were just gorgeous.

An elegant and modern English wedding at Hampton Court House with Elaine Williams Photography (12)

Kate & Chris were married at Hampton Court House in a decadent, dramatically styled wedding. Kate wore a gown by Sally Eagle and Valentino Rockstud pumps. They exchanged vows at her family church before heading on to Hampton Court House, of course via Bushy Park for photographs. The whole day was relaxed and stylish. Guests were treated to music from a quartet, before heading to the dramatically styled dining room for the breakfast.

I had a slightly different style of wedding dress in mind but I was drawn to this one as soon as I saw it, and when I tried it on at Luella’s Bridal it felt perfect. My mum and maid of honour both did these little intakes of breath when I came out in the sample! I only went to one bridal boutique as on my first visit I narrowed it down to two, and by my second visit I knew which one it was to be. The designer is Sally Eagle Bridal, and I also wore a bolero, handmade by Sewn Right with material from Sally Eagle (to match the dress).

I love this wedding. The details and styling are fab, Solene and Adam are both soooo gorgeous – and their smiles just make me grin right back at the screen. Their wedding day was Lord of the Rings themed, and it was styled amazingly with their florist really seeing their vision. Their images are vibrant, natural, and capture the spirit of the day so beautifully. Huge thanks to Gemma Giorgio for sending me such a beautiful wedding to share with you all today!

Our venue didn’t need much decoration – the building itself was in keeping with our style. We made placecards with quotes on the back and little hessian sacks as party favours which were stamped with a personalised stamp. Our cake was a naked cake (red velvet, salted caramel and Victoria sponge) as it fitted perfectly with our general theme.

For my bouquet I had pale purple and red roses with foliage, and for the table decorations, lots of moss! The florist was Alison White Flowers. She was amazing! She designed and arranged everything on the big day.

Today’s wedding is incredible – I fell hard for the gorgeous red peony bouquet, which matches beautiful bride Charlotte’s hair perfectly! The venue is spectacular… if you’re looking for a wedding venue in the south east of the country, and want to make a real statement – then this is absolutely one to go see! David and Charlotte’s day is filled with thoughtful handmade touches, beautiful moments, and love and laughter. I hope you love it as much as I do!

We got married at Battle Abbey School in Battle, East Sussex. I grew up in Hastings (which is just down the road) and David has come to adore the coast so the setting and the location was perfect for us. For our wedding we decided on a book theme. Both of us are avid writers and readers and the love of a book is what heavily fueled one of our first conversations. Battle Abbey offered the opportunity to have our wedding breakfast in their library – which convinced us that it was the perfect setting for our day. Around the wedding we had various literature related items – book centerpieces, paper flowers, a table plan constructed of book pages. It was great to bring that love of ours into such a special day. I think the style of our wedding was quite classic, with the setting of Battle, the tails for the boys and lace on my dress.

Joanna and Cajetan’s wedding is a wonderfully sophisticated, elegant celebration with lush winter colours and a real sense of fun. The day focused on giving guests the time of their lives – food and entertainment were key and the images of their day capture every moment so beautifully. Joanna is so beautiful in a bespoke designer dress and I love that this gorgeous couple planned their day together as a team.

“Typically the girls get most of the credit for planning a wedding!? If you have a husband-to-be who is willing to pitch in – use him to your advantage! Cj was absolutely fantastic, we had a shared vision about the day and he did so much of the planning. It was so much easier to plan that way, as the load was shared and we went through the stress and then the satisfaction together! It was great teamwork and by the end he found suppliers and booked them, which is half the battle! We felt like we pulled off a spectacular day! With the added addition of cultural differences and family members flying from all over the world, we had to cater to both sides. We did it!
