Stephanie & Nick’s beautiful, sustainable Devon wedding, with Snapdragon Photography

Published by Claire Gould on

We always ask our couples to share their best wedding moment, and Steph’s is lovely… but I have my own from this amazing wedding. It’s absolutely the moment the groomsmen picked Steph up for that classic photo – and in this case, it was carnage. Brilliant Devon wedding photographer Kayleigh at Snapdragon Photography captured every slip, and it’s guaranteed to make you grin!

Of course, wedding blogs are about magical moments, and this incredible day is full of love, beautifully styled and fabulously creative. We adore that it’s sustainable too. Scroll to see all the images and to read the happy couple’s reviews of their favourite suppliers for their Hallsannery House wedding.

Wedding photographer review

Kayleigh was fantastic! So calm, she instantly put everyone at ease and snapped away without anyone noticing. She ensured we could maximise time with family and friends at our reception as we requested but still managed to get our full shot list.

Your best moment or memory

Being met at the church gates with a surprise bottle of champagne (following the service!) then Visiting our favourite spots in Instow, North Devon for photos inbetween the church and reception. We even stopped for some champagne while watching the cricket!

Tell us anything you did differently – we love hearing about NEW traditions (or none at all!)

Aimed to be as sustainable as possible – sourced nearly everything locally, encouraged guests to hire outfits, bought items second hand and utilised as few “one use” items as possible.

Videographer name + review

Danny Hollywood – Danny was so much fun and the life and soul of the party, he brought such a great vibe. Yet to see the results (at time of writing in November 2023!) but we are very excited!

Venue name + review

Hallsannery House, Bideford. We are just so glad we picked this venue! It was our second home for the wedding weekend and we were left to manage everything as we wished. If you are looking for a venue you can make your own, and not an “out of the box” wedding package with beautiful views and loads of accommodation then Hallsannery is perfect. Hannah, the owner made everything so easy, she was fantastic.

Tell us a little about your outfits – both of you!

Steph – simple, fitted, satin finish backless dress with bow Nick – 3 piece white tie

Dress or suit shop name + review

Dress – Always and forever, Bideford. Lovely shop, lovely people and had all my fittings done here too! Emma & Gail picked the dress I ended up buying and knew exactly what would suit me, much better than I did!

Florist name + review

Sweetpeas and Sunflowers – I was thrilled to find Harriet who grows all her own flowers just a mile or so from the church. I gave her the colour theme and she picked the best flowers on the day. They hit the brief spot on and were absolutely stunning! So nice to know that they were grown so locally and to support small local businesses.

Cake maker name + review

Nick’s mum Jenny. Delicious 4 tier cake – Fruit, Chocolate, Orange & gluten-free sponge!

Any crafty projects or homemade styling touches?

Steph – hand written place names, home made orders of service, menu cards & seating plans. Table decorations largely comprising bay leaves from the garden!

Wedding readings?

“All I really need to know I learned in kindergarten” – Robert Fulghum Poem written and read by a close friend

First dance song? Playlist recommendations?

Jack Wilson – Higher & higher All the 60s/70s soul / R&B classics

Hair + makeup name + review

Makeup – style sister
Hair – Carrie snell
Both fantastic ladies to have around on wedding morning! Everyone loved their looks and were very happy
