Louise & Thomas’s lovely little Whitley Hall wedding, with Daze Photography

Published by Claire Gould on

We’re smitten with Louise and Thomas’s charming intimate wedding at Whitley Hall. The gorgeous pair included their two adorable girls in the day and sent in a brilliant interview with recommendations for their favourite Yorkshire wedding suppliers. Images are by lovely Kristie from Daze Photography & Film, assisted by Jade Regan Photography.

How did you choose your photographer?

Through word of mouth from Bryony who did our venue styling and wedding props (bobbiwrenevents) she recommended three amazing photographers who she had worked with and highly praised for their amazing photos. After looking through each portfolio I contacted Kristie (Daze Photography & Film) because I loved her photos and what I thought fitted for us and she also did videography and had some timeless videos which made it perfect!

Were you pleased with your wedding photographer? Do tell… we love a brilliant review!

Kristie at Daze Photography & Film and her lovely assistant Jade, were amazing throughout! From the morning with all the chaos of set up, bridal party makeup and hair; my dress being in a different room and the moving to the bridal suite; certain things running late she was so patient and reassuring and still managed to capture many amazing shots of us all getting ready! And then throughout the rest of the day capturing the most beautiful photos of our wedding ceremony, family photos and evening festivities that we will be able to cherish for a lifetime. She even caught some timeless and funny photos throughout the day of us completely unaware, especially meeting old family and friends we haven’t seen for many years! She honestly did it all and I couldn’t be more appreciative.

What’s your fondest memory of your wedding?

Honestly i have two! The first would have to be walking down the aisle, seeing my husband’s enormous grin seeing me in my dress and all done up beautifully it made me over whelming emotional! Hes not the soppy romantic type but the look in his eyes i knew this was it ..forever.. and i couldn’t wait to marry him.
The second would be at the bottom of the aisle my brother giving me away, it was an intensely emotional moment which i feel was felt all around the room. With it just being me and my brother left in our family, giving me away was like the final journey of big brother duties! We hug each other so tightly and cried i think for a moment i wasn’t going to let go! And the best part is Kristie caught a photo of us just before this and you can see the beautiful, tearful, raw moment.

Videographer details if applicable – and any thoughts for other couples about having a wedding video?

Another salute to Kristie! We have not yet seen the video but beyond excited, if its anything like her timeless photos i’m certain its going to be perfect! I would definitely recommend a video as it captures it all and it’s for a life time.

Tell us about your venue – what made this place special for you?

Our choice of venue was the most unprepared component of our wedding day even though it was the most crucial, we were looking for something that really spoke to us and we wanted a small intimate wedding. My brother recommended a venue where another wedding he was attending later on in the year. So after many emails phone calls and a physical visit we knew this venue was perfect for us. Its a perfect size for either a large or small wedding, gorgeous grounds with roaming peacocks which just adds to the wedding portraits. The building itself is old, rustic but still a timeless classic and the hotel rooms within keep the charm and not to mention the beds are very comfy and the staff are very accommodating and extremely helpful and patient.

Styling and decor

Other than our amazing venue, i really have to point out the exceptional work from my sister Bryony at bobbiwrenevents with her props and styling of our day. Completely unsure what kind of vision we wanted inside the venue she guided us and helped through the whole process. Her props really speak for themselves and added to the elegant rustic feel we wanted, my favorites would definitely been her enormous wooden light up love letters, disco balls and boudoir lounge chair. The whole look was flawless, the set up for our ceremony with the archway back with blue drapes was exquisite and even a little nod to my mum with having her framed next to the registrar table. It all worked perfectly and we will be forever grateful for what she achieved on making our day look perfect.

Did you love wearing your outfits? How was your shopping experience, was it fun to find your wedding gear?

I went bridal shopping a year before the wedding not long after having my second child late December, the experience itself was fun but i don’t think i truly loved myself in the dresses be it the mum bod or i hadn’t found ‘the one’ i did however pick a dress at lovely place in frodsham called the wedding bells bridal boutique. I very much liked the dress but as the months went on i realized i wasn’t in love with the dress, however i had been dreaming over a dress on their Instagram page and summoned up the courage to contact them to see if it wasn’t too late to change the dress luckily they hadn’t ordered the original dress so i went back in and from the moment i tried it on i instantly knew it was the one, and it had pockets !

The grooms found the suit he wanted at a local suit shop in cheshire oaks however he did the typical thing of not buying it when it was in store straight away so when he came to buy the suit they no longer sold it in store so he had to resort to buying it online and not know his size there were a few returns but he loved wearing it on the day

Did you hire a florist? Tell us about any floral amazingness

Jaustindesigns, another lovely supplier who was also recommended from bobbiwrenevents. We didn’t want an overwhelming amount of flowers for the wedding but i went in with a rough idea and she turned that concept into a reality. One of the floral pieces, the floor standing arrangement, which was used at the bottom of the isle infront of the registrar table and archway was then later used in our reception for the love nest table for me and my husband and it was exquisite and keeping in the baby blue theme with the flowers.

As cake lovers here at English Wedding we’d LOVE to know who made your cake, and how delicious it was?

For something different, i decided to surprise the groom and get a surprise wedding cake. This entailed of one normal ‘traditional’ style side of the cake keeping in line with the elegant baby blue and white theme and the other side was all star wars themed (The groom is a massive star wars fan! he even wore storm trooper cufflinks) safe to say he absolutely loved it. It was a three tiered cake each tier was a different flavour, carrot, red velvet and of course chocolate. It was one of the best decisions i made for the wedding and highly praised by the wedding guests who said it was refreshing to see something different to a wedding cake.

Tell us about any special personal touches, or creative projects you made yourselves

Our two daughters Lily & Iris who are both under three were made from scratch two beautiful satin flower girl dresses by a lovely local lady called carol. The best part of them they had beautiful applique’s on the trims of the skirt and shoulders which had come from my mother in law Claire timeless wedding dress. A beautiful add to an amazing day.
Also with the help of Bryony (bobbiewrenevents) she covered a gorgeous screen with all the photos of our relationship over the past 7 years, it was a nice walk down memory lane especially for those who hadn’t seen us for many years.

Did you have any wedding readings? What were they?

We didn’t have any readings as such as we had simplistic non religious wedding, we did however do our own version of our vows which included a declaration of love growth and happiness we have experienced over the last 7 years closing off with several of our chosen vows to each other.

What was your first dance song? Why did you choose it?

‘Only you’ by yazoo was the only song we could agree on and that was appropriate for a first dance and the lyrics of the song meant alot to us personally this song really speaks for itself.
