Kirsty & Ben’s laid back rustic wedding at Froginwell vineyard, with Simon Biffen Photography
Happy Wednesday, you lovely you! It’s been a week of amazing weddings so far… and today’s is a shining star of a celebration which I just know you’ll adore. Stunning couple Kirsty & Ben were married in Devon on a glorious sunny day. Their day is fun, elegant and full of romance, with moments to make you smile and details to make you swoon! Kirsty’s dress is from Prudence Gowns, and Ben’s suit from Moss Bros. The lovely couple chose our friend and Somerset wedding photographer Simon Biffen Photography to capture their day.

How did you choose your photographer?
We looked at several photographers online but loved Simon’s beautiful photographs and relaxed unposed style. He is also a friend so we knew we could trust him to do a great job.
Were you pleased with your wedding photographer? Do tell… we love a brilliant review!
Yes – absolutely! The photos are great, we love that they are really natural, especially as neither of us like posing for photos. Simon made us feel really comfortable and relaxed we barely noticed the camera was even there. We loved the slideshow he created as it captured the day as it naturally unfolded and was perfect to show friends and family after the big day.
Tell us about your venue – what made this place special for you?
We chose Froginwell Vineyard in Devon as our wedding venue. We really wanted a venue where we could make the wedding our own without having the stress of a Marquee. When we visited the venue we fell in love with it immediately. It ticked all the boxes: a great rustic space, beautiful vines, the freedom to use our own suppliers. And importantly the owner, Kate, was incredibly welcoming, helpful and ensured our day ran smoothly.
Did you love wearing your outfits? How was the dress / suit shopping experience?
Of course we loved getting all dressed up. My dress came from Prudence Gowns in Exeter, who were lovely. The girls in the shop were really helpful and allowed me to try on loads of dresses without any pressure to buy one. I totally knew when I found the dress, I loved its traditional. romantic style that fitted in with our rustic venue. Ben’s suit came from Moss Bros hire and was just what he wanted.
Did you hire a florist? Tell us about any floral amazingness
Our flowers came from Winsor Flower Studio , we chose Amanda to do the bouquets, button holes and two milk churn arrangements after being impressed by her floral display at a wedding show. I was fairly clueless about flowers but she helped guide us through and created some beautiful floral pieces.
As cake lovers here at English Wedding we’d LOVE to know who made your cake, and how delicious it was?
We were extremely lucky to have my sister-in-law, Michelle, make our amazing cake. She spent weeks making sugar flowers, lace out of icing and created the most beautiful cake (yes this is just her hobby).
Tell us about any special personal touches, or creative projects you made yourselves
We did quite a few little crafty pieces including the orders or service and the table plan. My Mum had sprayed some of our horses shoes silver, which was really special as one set was from our horse who had passed away the year before. They made great decorations.
We also did our own photo booth area, making a backdrop with lights and bunting and the tonnes of fancy dress stuff we already had.
Did you personalise your vows or have any wedding readings? What were they?
I had previously done a biochemistry degree so one of my best friends from my course read Albert Einstein’s Gravitation quote in the church, which was very fitting.
What was your first dance song? Why did you choose it?
Toploader – Dancing in the moonlight
We both really love this song as it make us feel happy and has that summer feeling, perfect to get the party started.
