Rebecca & Joshua’s whimsical floral wedding with Oobaloos Photography

Published by Claire Gould on

I couldn’t be happier with this week’s AMAZING weddings! Following yesterday’s stunning and colourful florals, today we’re going all white with the blooms, and including oodles of wonderful foliage – oh, and of COURSE we have the most insanely gorgeous couple: Joshua and Rebecca are just fabulous! That dress though…

“I have always been drawn to traditional wedding themes and feel like we managed to get a nice blend of classic wedding stylings with an element of whimsical floral touches. Being surrounded by flowers was my dream and one that we decided to spend more money on. Claire from LilyFee created a real life dream! I call her my fairy god mother. We went for white flowers and lots of foliage. I was desperate for a flower arch and we placed it to the entrance of the marque which was decorated with hanging foliage. I was able to work really closely with Claire and she really made my visions come to life, she is so talented!

We spent most of our time decorating the marque which was a beautifully big blank canvas. The rest of the venue is full of beauty that needed nothing to enhance it!

To other couples, my advice would be to enjoy the process and start the research and potentially booking of suppliers as soon as possible! Pinterest and blogs are an amazing source of inspiration!”

How did you choose your photographer?

We were shown Sheryl’s work by a colleague before we were even engaged. As soon as I saw her incredible photographs I knew we had found our wedding photographer (all I needed was Josh to propose!).

Were you pleased with your wedding photographer? Do tell… we love a brilliant review!

Sheryl is not only the most incredibly talented photographer she is also an absolute gorgeous human! She not only helped us the whole way through our planning with recommending suppliers and answering any wedding questions she also went above and beyond on the day.

Tell us about the moment you saw your wedding photos for the first time?

Sheryl was so speedy and got us 60 ‘sneak peaks’ by midnight that night! We had opened it up with all our friends and family the next day and it made us all cry! They were breathtaking! We had all 500 come through on our honeymoon and we had a magical evening sitting under the stars reminiscing over the most wonderful day captured so beautifully.

Wedding venue:

Birtsmorton Court was the only venue we went to view and we knew it was the one as soon as we arrived. It has absolutely everything you could dream of! Huge grounds which are beautifully maintained, a lake, moat, mediaeval house, barn and marquee! The on-site church was something we really wanted and our reverend welcomed us into their congregation with open arms! Dawn our wedding coordinator could not have done enough for us, she was there every step of the way and is such an expert in her field! We appreciate everything she did for us.

Wedding month:

August

Can you describe your wedding in fewer than 10 words?

A relaxed floral dream, filled with family and friends.

Where did you find your suppliers? (Blogs, magazines, recommendations?)

Most of our suppliers were recommendations. We are so happy to have done it this way as most of our suppliers knew each other well and had worked together so many times.

What’s your top tip for saving money?

DIY as much as you can, it can be lots of fun too! We had online RSVPs through Weddingwire.com which saved us lots on stamps and envelopes.

Where did you buy or source your wedding stationery – or was making it a labour of love?

We designed our own stationery and used Printed.com to print. We loved being in complete control of our designs and saved a huge amount of money. We bought a personalised wax seal which really made our invites look so special!

Did you fall in love with your wedding dress?

While searching for dress designs online I found my dress I ended up buying and booked to try it on in the shop. I didn’t try on very many other dresses as I quickly decided nothing was going to compare.

Wedding dress designer and bridal boutique:

Mori Lee at Bridal Gallery at the Cotswold Frock Shop.

Tell us about your accessories: jewellery, shoes and anything else!

I decided on wearing a simple pearl necklace and small hanging pearl earrings which I purchased at Etsy.com as my mum had worn pearls at her wedding. My shoes were old Karen Milan shoes with a gorgeous big silver bow at the front. These have been my favourite shoes since wearing them to my sixth form ball in 2010.

And what did the groom wear?

Josh wore a black Ted Baker tuxedo hired from Moss Bros.

Beautiful bridesmaids: what did your best girls wear?

My bridesmaids wore floor length mauve pleated dresses from TFNC.

Hair and make-up – did you DIY or hire a professional?

I hired the wonderful Christine Cara for our make up who is Cotswold/London based. She was so lovely and had great knowledge of skin care which I was really interested in. Danni from Ella hairdressers in Cheltenham has been doing my hair for a long time and I was lucky to have her and a colleague do all my bridal party on the day.

Crafts and makes – tell us about any homemade elements of your wedding… did you enjoy them?

We made our own stationery: invites, order of services, name cards, table plan, menus etc. It was so enjoyable as it was something Josh and I spent a lot of time doing together.

The wedding cake: what kind of cake did you choose and why?

We wanted a simple cake but still wanted it to stand out in the room as we knew how much the flowers were going to be centre stage. Vanilla Pod Bakery in Cheltenham were so wonderful and made a gorgeous large white 4 tiered cake on a clear glass stand. It was such a show stopper and held its own.

Entertainment: any musical recommendations, surprises or treats?

We were recommended our DJ (Pete stead DJ) for the evening by the venue and he did not disappoint. We did a lot of research on string quartets and found a great string trio who played during the ceremony and drinks reception (The String Quartet). We made our own doughnut wall which everyone loved and all the Krispy Cremes were demolished! As we are huge Dominos lovers we surprised our guests with a long line of opened Dominos boxes in the evening.

What’s the best thing about being married?

Knowing we have made a huge commitment to each other which has been supported and encouraged by all our friends and family through a wedding is the best thing.
