So how’s that first day back at work going?! For me it’s a good one – I’ve packed and posted seven calligraphy orders already, my desk is almost clear – and I only have 70 or so emails in my inbox to reply to! Click for more info]… My cat is snuggled up in his bowl next to me; it’s blowing a hoolie outside and I’m nice and warm in my little studio! Oh, and before I forget (haha)… I have the LOVELIEST real wedding to kick off our 2020!
Newlyweds Emily and Paul tied the knot at Dewsall Court in June. Their day is beautifully rustic and relaxed, with an edge of glamour and a wonderful sprinkling of summertime! Emily is stunning; Paul her perfect match, and you can see the love just shines from these two! Most of all I love this wedding because it’s REAL. The happy couple had friends and family help out with styling their day – the cake was made by a friend, and the couple made their own table plan (which is pretty damn awesome!) – and this blog is ALL about real, achievable and inspiring weddings!

How did you choose your photographer?
We were recommend Jarek by our wedding venue. On first viewing his website and portfolio we fell in love with his work!

Having Jarek capture our special day in pictutes was fantastic. Jarek reflected the relaxed, rustic nature of our wedding perfectly. We struggled to select pictures for our wedding album as we loved them all. Jarek is so friendly, proactive and professional. He captured exactly what we wanted whilst remaining in the background on the big day.
Tell us about the moment you saw your wedding photos for the first time?
When we saw the wedding pictures we were both breath taken. We could not believe the moments Jarek captured. We could have looked through the pictures at least 40 times and even now I fall in love with them again!

Where did you buy or source your wedding stationery – or was making it a labour of love?
My sister found a template via etsy and purchased this using this to continue the theme throughout the wedding using it for save the dates, wedding invitations and menus. We also made a wedding website which contained all the details for the big day, this reduced the amount of information we sent out with the invites saving both paper and money.
Did you fall in love with your wedding dress?
Absolutely!!! it was the Wow factor that I never thought I would go for but totally loved from the moment I tried it on. i felt like a princess every time I tried it on and certainly when I wore it throughout the day.

Tell us about your accessories: jewellery, shoes and anything else!
I borrowed my headpiece from my sister in law from her wedding… that was my something borrowed
My beautiful shoes were from Rainbow which were cream/gold with beaded detail on the back, they tied in beautifully with the detail throughout my dress. I wore very simple silver and pearl earrings which the groom had bought me.
And what did the groom wear?
The groom wore a slimfit French blue 3 piece suit, with brown and navy brogue shoes. personalised cuff links, tie clip and watch.
Beautiful bridesmaids: what did your best girls wear?
i had 3 bridesmaids they wore 3 different style dusky pink long dresses from TFNC. My flower girl wore a pretty dusky pink dress with hold glittery shoes and a floral headpiece.

Describe your wedding flowers. Who arranged them for you? (florist details would be lovely please)
Love Lily, Abergavenny. These were an array of summer, rustic florals. We used hoops for the bridesmaid which I absolutely adore
General styling – did your venue need much decoration?
Dewsall court needed very little decoration, the venue spoke for itself.
we purchased a large hoop that used as a of it back drop and positioned alongside the barn. the barn was beautifully decorated with a selection of flowers on the candleabras and tables
Crafts and makes – tell us about any homemade elements of your wedding… did you enjoy them?
We made our own table plan using a copper frame and perspex using chalk pen to decorate this. We made our own menus and supplied our own jars for the table decorations
The wedding cake: what kind of cake did you choose and why?
Our wedding cake was made and decorated by our friend. it was a beautiful 3 tiered cake decorated with white vanilla frosting and edible pansies that we grew in our own garden. the cake flovourings included coconut and lime lemon and elderflower and raspberry and white chocolate. we tied in the edible floral theme with our favours which were floral lollipops with edible flowers.
Entertainment: any musical recommendations, surprises or treats?
We had a live band at our wedding called festival heart which was a four piece band with a quirky and rustic style that sand all our favorite songs and got the guests dancing
Words of wisdom: share your best piece of advice for other couples:
Don’t sweat the small stuff- don’t over complicate things, dont lose focus on what you want and don’t worry about small details, the chances are no one will notice if things are ‘missing’
