Transition of Seasons – timeless London wedding style with Amanda Karen Photography

Hi lovelies! How is your wedding planning going and are you hooked on Pinterest yet? I’ve spent today falling down random Pinterest holes… it’s not been a mega productive one so far! And the photoshoot I’m about to share with you hasn’t helped at all… there are so many stunning ideas here. We’re talking late summer wedding style – for that brief period of time when the summer begins to fade and wisps of autumn stir the air. A delicate, pastel colour palette still works this late in the season, but tinged with plum tones and darker pinks the look becomes something truly special to work with the earliest days of autumn.

Inspired by London elegance and natural elements, this shoot combines timeless London backdrops with an abundance of fine art but creative florals and a more ‘chic’ rustic look. A central palette of ivory, grey and green with highlights of gold and soft blush. Bolder plum tones used within the florals help to give depth to the palette and make a statement. Clissold House in vibrant Hackney, London provided the elegant backdrop for this editorial shoot. The Autumnal weather and wooden interiors of Clissold House inspired this transitional colour palette of forest green contrasted with soft blush and deep berry tones and delicate touches of gold. The design by Fleur and Fig was based around timeless elegance with a slight nod to rustic chic.

The tablescape reflected the elegant feel of Clissold House. Fleur & Fig used bare wooden tables draped in a soft Ivory table runner by Pompom Blossom, who also made the gorgeous grey and blush napkins that were delicately folded and placed at each place setting. For the dinnerware they chose natural white plates accompanied with wood and gold cutlery, with mixed crystal and vintage pink glassware from Classic Crockery. The table setup was completed with gorgeous wood cross back chairs also by Classic Crockery.

A combination of gold and glass candlesticks with ivory, plum and heather coloured tapered candles decorated the table along with a large cascading floral centrepiece and two smaller arrangements. The table was positioned inside the main Dining Room within Clissold House, in front of large Georgian townhouse windows that filled the room with an abundance of natural light.

Bureau Design created an absolutely gorgeous invitation suite and menus to tie in with our fine art, elegant theme. Delicate cocktail bar menus in gold frames added a sophisticated touch to our cocktail bar. Name cards tied with delicate silk ribbon were used as an interactive table plan come treat table.

Our lovely bride Joanne wore a stunning dress provided by London Bridal Boutique Luella’s Boutique. We choose a dress that had a city chic feel to suit our venue but also one that would appeal to the modern and fashion inspired bride. The Charlotte design by Vicky Rowe was covered in beautiful beading with an on-trend high neck design.

We featured footwear by the super luxurious Jimmy Choo, the gorgeous Lance design which is a favourite with brides at the moment. The London Victorian Ring Co provided a striking halo cluster emerald cut diamond ring.

The wonderful hair and makeup artist Alison Jenner created a classical yet modern look with a lightly dewy complexion and a gorgeous dusty pink lip. Joanne’s hair was swept into a tousled low bun, creating an effortlessly chic look whilst still allowing for the dress details to be on show.

We love Emma Soulsby Flowers’s signature floristry style that is creative and romantically wild. Every petal is grown with love by their fabulous British flower growers and every element was carefully chosen by the team for this shoot. The flowers for this shoot featured muted tones alongside deeper hues for depth and interest. Emma Soulsby created a stunning statement spiral arrangement in the centre of the drinks reception entrance to mirror the floral adorned spiral staircase leading into the wedding. The wild romantic florals were also present on the table décor with a large arrangement central to the table, high above the diners on an intricate, almost invisible metal plinth.

For the cake, Cocoa and Silk created an elegant and simple two tiered buttercream cake decorated in exquisitely detailed and romantic sugar peonies with lace. However, a cake was not the only delicious treat to grace this wedding, dessert tables are an ever popular addition to luxurious London weddings and this was no exception; cake pops, profiteroles, white chocolate chip cookies, gold leaf meringue kisses and individual mini cheesecakes.

To reflect light and airy feel to the venue and aesthetic, it was important that photography and videography also held this style. Amanda Karen Photography (photographer) and Nkima Photography (videography) worked seamlessly together to capture the romance of this shoot.
