Happy Monday my lovelies! Is the sun shining for you today? I do hope so – we had the most beautiful sunrise up here in the Lake District and I’m feeling happy and excited for a lovely week ahead! In real life, it’s full of me writing wedding invitation samples on handmade papers with my fave calligraphy pens – and then I’ve a modern calligraphy workshop by the coast on Friday. In wedding blog life (which is a joyful existence lived inside my computer!) this week we have lots of fabulous inspiration for you including a virtual explore of Sussex’s best wedding venues and a rundown of some of the Midlands’ finest wedding bands – if you’re in those areas, check back here through the week to find out more!

Today we kick off with a gorgeous English wedding. Beautiful bride Keely married her gorgeous guy Ben in May. The wisteria-framed portraits outside their venue are glorious; the styling of their day is elegant and refined. I adore the bridesmaids in palest blue with sequin patterns on their dresses. The seed wedding favours are a lovely idea and look so adorably home made! And of course Keely and Ben just look wonderful together: so happy and the absolute picture of elegance and grace.

Once in a while, in the middle of an ordinary life, love grows and gives us a fairytale – Michael’s mum

Scrolling through the fabulous images from today’s London wedding, I get a very strong feeling that this is only the beginning of gorgeous couple Michael and Dorito’s story. It’s for this sense of ongoing narrative that I love sharing documentary wedding photography – I find it keeps my feet on the ground and reminds me that weddings are just as much a part of daily life as having breakfast and chatting to friends.

Your wedding will be your best day ever. That’s guaranteed: you’re marrying the love of your life, setting out together on an adventure. But that perfection is all about the people, the laughter and the love. However you choose to ‘frame’ your day (with styling and decor, flowers and sequins) it’s important to remember that those details are only a frame or a backdrop for your celebrations. On the day, you’ll know just what I mean.

Hey lovelies! Let’s dive straight into today’s real wedding – it’s too good to miss! Gorgeous couple Lauren & Duncan were married in July at the gorgeous Merriscourt, Oxfordshire. They had lots of lovely rustic details with flowers and foliage everywhere – and such carefully selected styling elements. Lauren’s dress by Sottero & Midgley (from Once in a Lifetime Bridal)  is stunning! “It was as if it was made for me, and I felt incredible on the big day.”

This wedding is making me feel like summertime… and with the rain this morning hammering against the window in my little office, I’ll take that! Images are by lovely Rachel Lou Photography.

“The venue itself was a series of beautiful barns set in amazing grounds, which wouldn’t have looked out of place in southern Italy! We wanted lots of fairy lights set amongst the beams and also had lots of vinyl decal on mirrors as we wanted to make the most of the light in the venue. We had lots of candles set around and wooden accessories to tie in the rustic theme.

I love everything about today’s wedding – the joyful colours, the happy couple and their gorgeous smiles, Charlotte’s fabulous Lucy Can’t Dance dress and Pete’s tweed suit (orange buttons get a YESSS!) and the vibrant floral styling on the tables. Here’s a wedding to Pinterest the hell out of – you’re gonna LOVE this! Images are by lovely English Wedding member Helen England Photography.

We got married at St Michaels and all Angels Church in Withyham, Hartfield and had our reception at The Bell, Ticehurst. We wanted to get married in church and luckily for us, Pete’s parents attend St Michaels and all Angels which is not only visually beautiful but the choir (Pete’s Dad sings in the choir), the bells and the fabulous Vicar James made our ceremony very personal. We knew we wanted The Bell, It is a quirky, boutique pub in which we have celebrated birthdays and anniversaries so was a natural choice. Tessa, the wedding coordinator, and the whole team made us feel important and special. One of my strangest, and happiest, memories is watching the team dancing to our wedding playlist whilst serving dinner.

Happy Monday lovelies! How was your weekend? We were at a wedding in beautiful Derbyshire, so I’m still over the moon feeling happy for my amazing friend Beth and new hubby Peter – we had the absolute best weekend ever. So I was so excited to stay in the wedding mood and share another gorgeous day with you all today – we’re sharing gorgeous bride and groom Amy and Chris’s wedding all the way from sunny Devon, with our friends Devon wedding photographers Howell Jones Photography behind the camera lens!

Amy and Chris were married in August at Colehayes Park near Newton Abbott in Devon. Amy told me their wedding was “The most fun party I’ve ever been to!” and you know what, it really does look that way! They called the wedding ‘Lonkerfest’ – the festival vibe was because Colehayes Park was theirs for over a week so lots of wedding guests stayed over and hung out and partied throughout the week! Amy’s surname is Lonnen and Chris’s is Straker – “together our friends know us as The Lonkers – hence Lonkerfest! It was full of colour and silly-ness – there was no real theme – just to PARTY and have fun!”

Happy weekend! Thank you so much for sticking around to enjoy the English Wedding Blog this week – we’ve had a wonderful week full of weddings and style inspiration and I’m thrilled to be sharing yet another real wedding with you today, this time from Manchester city centre. Gorgeous couple Rebecca and Stephen’s October wedding day was intimate, informal and relaxed. They focused on fun, laughter and happiness – and their photos capture the atmosphere brilliantly. The styling is minimal, contemporary and beautiful, and the venue is The King Street Townhouse Hotel. Images are by lovely Sarah Millington Photography, based in Derbyshire.

The beautiful King Street Townhouse Hotel is situated in the historic conservation area of Manchester city centre. The hotel oozes luxury with gorgeous suites and stunning views of the city from both the rooms and the rooftop terrace where the reception was held. The hotel manages to be both cozy and opulent, striking the perfect balance between historic and contemporary details.

Hey lovely! I have a treat for you today – gorgeous bride Meg and her handsome new hubby Jack celebrated their wedding at Brympton House, a stunning venue which Country Life described as the most beautiful house in England. Our friend and Somerset wedding photographer Martin Dabek knows it well: he captured Meg and Jack’s day in his fabulous style, recording the wonderful styling details, memorable moments and atmosphere of the day perfectly. And that Phillipa Lepley gown…

The venue, Brympton House, was beautiful in its own right. However, the styling team were able to add so many extra touches that bought the home to life and fit perfectly with the themes. Emily, who does the Brympton House flowers arranged all the flowers for us. She was brilliant and added extra touches, such as a personalised ribbons to the bouquets. We wanted lots of flowers and folliage, which was all a bit messy and relaxed. Everything we asked for she did wonderfully.

Hey everyone! I hope you’ve had a lovely weekend. We’ve had a brilliant couple of days visiting family and friends on the Cumbrian coast, and I’m ready for a week full of weddings, style ideas and glorious images to enjoy! We begin with gorgeous couple Melanie and Chad, who married at Maunsel House in the autumn. Lovely Somerset wedding photographer Linus Moran Photography sent this one in, and the super lovely couple have shared lots of fantastic tips and supplier recommendations with you too! Can you believe Melanie bought her flowers from a wholesaler and made her own bouquet?! Isn’t it beautiful?

The only decorations we wanted to do were in the pergola in the grounds of the house and even then we didn’t want to take away from the natural surroundings and the vines climbing the wooden pillars. So we just put together simple hanging glass baubles with dark green moss and led tea lights. Our place names and table names were all handmade, as well as all our flower arrangements and bouquets. My mum made a delicious Somerset apple chutney to go with our cheese tower cake, made using Bramley apples donated from her neighbour’s garden. Our flower girls’ crowns were made from bits and pieces from hobbycraft with help from my sister. We loved coming up with the ideas and designs and to have the personal touches all come together on the day made it that extra bit special.

How did you choose your photographer?

We tried a range of methods, from googling and using wedding supplier websites but in the end it was searching #devonweddingphotographer on Instagram that led us to Anthony. We loved Anthony’s style and after exploring his website of work as well, we arranged to meet with him.

Happy Monday, lovelies! How was your weekend? Did you see our FOUR features on English Wedding this weekend? Huge thanks to Jordanna Marston Photography for sharing her best 10 London wedding venues with us on Saturday – that was fab! And we LOVED the sustainable wedding inspiration shoot on Saturday morning. Lovely Charlene‘s wedding videos (Love Gets Sweeter) made the blog look so lovely on Sunday. Meanwhile, we have been sofa shopping and then walking in the mountains… a weekend of two halves! I’m pooped – but happy to be at my desk again and ready to share some wedding loveliness with you today!

Jenn and Jon were married in September at Barley Wood in Somerset, and chose lovely English Wedding member Howell Jones Photography to capture their day. Jenn told us the venue is owned by the YMCA and all the proceeds go back into the charity. They train apprentices on site who look after the grounds and the venue – they have a really relaxed, laid back attitude, but give great constructive advice and support.

It’s always the images that get me; the beautiful photography and the intuitive captures. With York Place Studios that’s always the hugest thing. Then there’s Beth and Tim – a couple whose love, laughter and secret glances steal my heart. They’re adorable, romantic, heartwarming and surrounded by everyone they hold dearest at their Star Inn wedding in Harome.

Now this wedding is extraordinary for one more reason: Beth and Tim got married at 4 o’clock on a December day. Their ceremony and reception were to be lit by candlelight – which meant hiring top UK wedding photographers York Place Studios was a must. To take great photos in low light requires a ridiculous amount of skill and absolute top-of-the-range cameras. Prewarned, and relishing the challenge, the guys from York Place captured this day in their inimitable documentary wedding photography style. The images are bursting full of treasured memories, love and a sense of fun.
