Today’s wedding is blissfully beautiful, classic in style and with a sophisticated wintry look. The styling is elegant and light, using silver and grey – the bridesmaids’ dark dresses are fabulous. And I’ve totally fallen for Izzy and Tom – they look so wonderfully happy together, not to mention absolutely gorgeous! Izzy’s dress is a showstopper: her smile is infectious. You’ll love these two! The stunning venue is De Vere Tortworth Court, which is captured so beautifully in Bristol wedding photographer Martin Dabek‘s inimitable signature style.
Happy Sunday my lovely! It’s a blustery one so I hope you’re staying safe and warm tucked up inside! While you’re all snuggled up and cosy, I have a stunner of a wedding to share with you today, courtesy of our fabulous friend and sponsor Dorset wedding photographer Robin Goodlad Photography. Beautiful bride Natalie and gorgeous hubby James were married in The Barn at Burley Manor last March – their rustic wedding day has everything (sooo much to Pin!) with lush flowers and foliage and joyful country charm throughout. The atmosphere is electric; these two are SO much in love! And the images are the kind of stop-in-your-tracks beauties you’ll be swooning over all day!
The Barn at Burley Manor in Hampshire is a great venue with a rustic charm. It’s beautiful in its own right so you can add as much or as little decoration as you want. We kept it to the foliage runners, some fairy lights on the beams, hessian bunting made by my mum and some candles in jam jars! We had some white chair covers and used some floral accents, again made by my mum, to keep the chairs in keeping with our style. We used wine as our table themes using bottles as centrepieces and grape varieties as table names. We continued the theme with bottles on fireplaces and in amongst the foliage decorations.
Gorgeous couple Chris & Beena tied the knot at North Cadbury Court in Somerset, on a beautifully sunny August day. Their day is fabulous with classic countryside styling and the prettiest flowers: greens and neutrals were the brief provided to Julia Moore who is based in North Cadbury and she did an amazing job.
Beena and Chris made lots and lots of crafty, personal touches for their day: homemade hessian bows for the church… (hessian gets EVERYWHERE so be careful when cutting lots of this up!), homemade bracelets and gents’ leatherette bands as favours; beads direct is a great online site to use!
They also made all the gents ties as they couldn’t get a colour match. “I was lucky enough to find a really easy pattern online and youtube always helps!” The images of their day really capture the lively and beautiful atmosphere – they’re by our lovely friend and Somerset wedding photographer Linus Moran Photography, who gets a brilliant review from the happy couple!

Harriet & Ian got married in August in Oxford, and describe their day as joyful, beautiful, welcoming, summery, exuberant, momentous and full of happiness! It looks wonderful – that summer sunshine and the relaxed styling in such glorious venues are perfect for an Oxford wedding! This gorgeous pair look so happy and content on their best day ever – which I think comes down to their genius approach to planning. They’ve given us some great recommendations and supplier ideas in their interview at the end of their feature, and share this fabulous snippet of wedding wisdom…
Chill! But plan in advance and don’t leave everything to the last minute. Map out your time and allocate jobs to each month. Only worry about something in its allocated month. This means everything gets done, steadily and reliably. Don’t fall in to the trap of one person doing everything and the other barely being consulted. Hatty may be the one with the artistic vision but we did the whole thing as a team and we were a wed-min machine by the end! Most importantly, remember that everyone is there to have fun and celebrate your relationship so don’t get stressed by the little things. The important thing is your marriage, not the wedding.
Today’s wedding sings of summer. If you’re missing those long, chilled out evenings and glorious rays then you’ll adore today’s summery celebrations! Let me introduce you to gorgeous bride and groom Verity and Adam, whose July wedding in Somerset is as perfect as can be – from the little details through to the amazing atmosphere of love and laughter captured so beautifully by our friend Warren at Howell Jones Photography.

We had a skype interview with a couple of different photographers but we loved Warren’s style of photography and his relaxed approach.
We had an engagement shoot in Oxford in the autumn and it was great for us to all get to know each other a bit before the big day. It was important to us for the photographer not to feel like a stranger on the day so we could be comfortable and not awkward in front of the camera.

Oh thank goodness it’s Friday at last! I’ve been looking forward to sharing this beautiful wedding with you lovely lot all week! Our gorgeous couple are childhood sweethearts Joe and Kerry, who were married in church and celebrated at The Old Royal Naval College in Greenwich.
Their day is classic and beautiful – the dress is stunning and traditional with gorgeous, intricate detailing and a full skirt. Joe’s suit is accessorised with pretty pale pink accents, which tie in with Kerry’s bouquet and the lovely bridesmaids’ dresses. The day is pretty and feminine, luxurious and full of love and laughter – it’s a perfect way to end our week, and I hope you love this as much as I do!

Happy Monday my lovelies! Is the sun shining for you today? I do hope so – we had the most beautiful sunrise up here in the Lake District and I’m feeling happy and excited for a lovely week ahead! In real life, it’s full of me writing wedding invitation samples on handmade papers with my fave calligraphy pens – and then I’ve a modern calligraphy workshop by the coast on Friday. In wedding blog life (which is a joyful existence lived inside my computer!) this week we have lots of fabulous inspiration for you including a virtual explore of Sussex’s best wedding venues and a rundown of some of the Midlands’ finest wedding bands – if you’re in those areas, check back here through the week to find out more!
Today we kick off with a gorgeous English wedding. Beautiful bride Keely married her gorgeous guy Ben in May. The wisteria-framed portraits outside their venue are glorious; the styling of their day is elegant and refined. I adore the bridesmaids in palest blue with sequin patterns on their dresses. The seed wedding favours are a lovely idea and look so adorably home made! And of course Keely and Ben just look wonderful together: so happy and the absolute picture of elegance and grace.
Once in a while, in the middle of an ordinary life, love grows and gives us a fairytale – Michael’s mum
Scrolling through the fabulous images from today’s London wedding, I get a very strong feeling that this is only the beginning of gorgeous couple Michael and Dorito’s story. It’s for this sense of ongoing narrative that I love sharing documentary wedding photography – I find it keeps my feet on the ground and reminds me that weddings are just as much a part of daily life as having breakfast and chatting to friends.
Your wedding will be your best day ever. That’s guaranteed: you’re marrying the love of your life, setting out together on an adventure. But that perfection is all about the people, the laughter and the love. However you choose to ‘frame’ your day (with styling and decor, flowers and sequins) it’s important to remember that those details are only a frame or a backdrop for your celebrations. On the day, you’ll know just what I mean.
Hey lovelies! Let’s dive straight into today’s real wedding – it’s too good to miss! Gorgeous couple Lauren & Duncan were married in July at the gorgeous Merriscourt, Oxfordshire. They had lots of lovely rustic details with flowers and foliage everywhere – and such carefully selected styling elements. Lauren’s dress by Sottero & Midgley (from Once in a Lifetime Bridal) is stunning! “It was as if it was made for me, and I felt incredible on the big day.”
This wedding is making me feel like summertime… and with the rain this morning hammering against the window in my little office, I’ll take that! Images are by lovely Rachel Lou Photography.
“The venue itself was a series of beautiful barns set in amazing grounds, which wouldn’t have looked out of place in southern Italy! We wanted lots of fairy lights set amongst the beams and also had lots of vinyl decal on mirrors as we wanted to make the most of the light in the venue. We had lots of candles set around and wooden accessories to tie in the rustic theme.
I love everything about today’s wedding – the joyful colours, the happy couple and their gorgeous smiles, Charlotte’s fabulous Lucy Can’t Dance dress and Pete’s tweed suit (orange buttons get a YESSS!) and the vibrant floral styling on the tables. Here’s a wedding to Pinterest the hell out of – you’re gonna LOVE this! Images are by lovely English Wedding member Helen England Photography.
We got married at St Michaels and all Angels Church in Withyham, Hartfield and had our reception at The Bell, Ticehurst. We wanted to get married in church and luckily for us, Pete’s parents attend St Michaels and all Angels which is not only visually beautiful but the choir (Pete’s Dad sings in the choir), the bells and the fabulous Vicar James made our ceremony very personal. We knew we wanted The Bell, It is a quirky, boutique pub in which we have celebrated birthdays and anniversaries so was a natural choice. Tessa, the wedding coordinator, and the whole team made us feel important and special. One of my strangest, and happiest, memories is watching the team dancing to our wedding playlist whilst serving dinner.
Happy Monday lovelies! How was your weekend? We were at a wedding in beautiful Derbyshire, so I’m still over the moon feeling happy for my amazing friend Beth and new hubby Peter – we had the absolute best weekend ever. So I was so excited to stay in the wedding mood and share another gorgeous day with you all today – we’re sharing gorgeous bride and groom Amy and Chris’s wedding all the way from sunny Devon, with our friends Devon wedding photographers Howell Jones Photography behind the camera lens!
Amy and Chris were married in August at Colehayes Park near Newton Abbott in Devon. Amy told me their wedding was “The most fun party I’ve ever been to!” and you know what, it really does look that way! They called the wedding ‘Lonkerfest’ – the festival vibe was because Colehayes Park was theirs for over a week so lots of wedding guests stayed over and hung out and partied throughout the week! Amy’s surname is Lonnen and Chris’s is Straker – “together our friends know us as The Lonkers – hence Lonkerfest! It was full of colour and silly-ness – there was no real theme – just to PARTY and have fun!”
Happy weekend! Thank you so much for sticking around to enjoy the English Wedding Blog this week – we’ve had a wonderful week full of weddings and style inspiration and I’m thrilled to be sharing yet another real wedding with you today, this time from Manchester city centre. Gorgeous couple Rebecca and Stephen’s October wedding day was intimate, informal and relaxed. They focused on fun, laughter and happiness – and their photos capture the atmosphere brilliantly. The styling is minimal, contemporary and beautiful, and the venue is The King Street Townhouse Hotel. Images are by lovely Sarah Millington Photography, based in Derbyshire.
The beautiful King Street Townhouse Hotel is situated in the historic conservation area of Manchester city centre. The hotel oozes luxury with gorgeous suites and stunning views of the city from both the rooms and the rooftop terrace where the reception was held. The hotel manages to be both cozy and opulent, striking the perfect balance between historic and contemporary details.
