A brilliantly fun wedding story in pictures told by York Place Studios at Appletreewick Craven Arms (38)

Time doesn’t stand still at weddings. Wedding blogs and magazines full of photos give the impression that a wedding is a series of amazing moments, stepping from one to another with a ‘click’, ‘click’ of a camera shutter at every step along the way. But the brides and grooms on English Wedding tell me – almost every time – that the day goes by SO FAST – it’s a sprint, a story which keeps on running like a fast-paced movie. There can be moments where ten things happen in the flash of an eye; and moments of stillness too.

Why am I saying all this? Because today’s wedding from York Place Studios really brings it to mind. Rebecca and John’s wedding photos tell more than their story: they tell the story of everyone at their wedding – the joy and tears of the adorable children in their family. The excitement of their dogs as they get to play with so many brilliant people! The preparations in the morning, the ceremony, the reception and the dancing. I don’t doubt it felt as though this fabulous day was over in a second. But I know I could spend hours flicking through the wonderful photos, and seeing more moments to make me smile every time!

I am feeling FESTIVE today!! Christmas calligraphy orders are almost done (and we’ve had such a brilliant year with family tree orders and calligraphy workshop bookings – it’s ace!) – I have a new jumper to snuggle into and I’m generally getting in the mood for the party season. So when I spotted beautiful Lauren and Adam’s stunning Christmas wedding from Rachel Joyce in my inbox, it just felt PERFECT to share with you! There’s everything: mulled wine, Christmas trees, sparklers and even SNOW!!

We had met with a couple of photographers who we didn’t feel entirely happy about, then somebody recommended Rachel. She was excellent to communicate with and once we met with her we knew straight away. She was kind and friendly, asked lots of questions and seemed genuinely interested in what we were planning for the wedding. She talked us through her style of photography and showed us albums of previous weddings she had photographed and we knew she was right for us. She clearly loves her job and it shows!

Morning lovelies! How was your weekend? We’re all Christmassed-up at English Wedding HQ and ready to party from right now!!! But first… of course we have some fabulous weddings and ideas to share with you this week. We’re starting with gorgeous bride and groom Rosie and Dom, who were married in September at The Royal Albert Memorial Museum in Exeter.

Photographer Lee Maxwell got in touch – shooting Rosie and Dom’s wedding made him the first ever wedding photographer at the Royal Albert Memorial Museum to capture a wedding ceremony. The wedding reception was at Double Locks – a wonderful venue for a relaxed wedding reception. The spirit of this gorgeous wedding really comes across in the photos, which I hope you’ll love as much as I do!

We made all our own decorations and it was worth it, but it required lots of planning and preparation and we still ended up spending a bit on things we didn’t need in the end. Although we’re not particularly creative people and we gave ourselves lots to do, it was manageable because we knew our limits and didn’t try anything too ambitious. But until we’d actually finished I was definitely worried it wouldn’t look right!

Sometimes I save up my very favourite weddings for the weekend, so we can all spend a little longer browsing through all the gorgeous images and Pinning every stunning detail and idea. Today is one of those days… beautiful Farhaa and Ferd celebrated in style with a fabulously styled and gloriously photographed wedding at Ariana Gardens in Essex. Their photographer was the wonderfully talented Emily Black Photography, who is based in Hampshire. Grab a cuppa, get comfy and enjoy this beautiful Indian wedding with me…. and oh, wouldn’t a slice of this breathtaking cake be perfect right now?!

We chose a marble themed cake with a special topper saying “And so the adventure begins” as we are both quite adventurous it suited our personalities.

We had a stage area with a flower backdrop and two big cherry blossom trees on each side. We went for a floral theme and loved the idea of cherry blossoms. The venue had a tree growing inside and added that extra décor.

I love the bright colours and the sunflowers in today’s wedding – it’s the perfect little blast of sunshine to brighten up our screens and our smiles when the weather outside is… oh let’s just not look!!! Join me in gazing happily at the gorgeous pics from gorgeous Hannah and Nathanael’s pretty sunflower wedding – it’s glorious!

Our experience was that weddings are as expensive as you make them to be. We were keen to save money and so got loads of our friends and family involved with everything! Our maid of honour’s mum made our wedding cake, Hannah rented her wedding dress, our friends designed all the stationery and so much more! It was a great way not only to save money, but also to involve people in our process and to make them feel a part of it.

It’s more than wonderful to see a gorgeous bridal bouquet given the attention it deserves – and Dorset photographer Robin Goodlad captures this beauty like a pro! Beautiful Martine and Nick’s wedding day is full of visual treats, glamorous styling and thoughtful details – Martine is stunning and Nick looks gorgeous – but these two little faces almost steal the show… aren’t they ADORABLE?!!

Martine is SUCH a beautiful bride, and chose a lace dress with a gorgeous and delicate neckline – the beading and detail of the dress is just stunning. A simple pearl pendant and softly curled undo completed her bridal style. The flowers are divine, with roses and peonies, mint and ferns – and floral styling around the venue with more roses, rosemary and plenty of foliage for a modern and textured look.

And Mick looks fabulous in a Ted Baker suit with a coral and ivory buttonhole to match Jen’s gorgeous bouquet! Images are by lovely Sally at Rose Images, and the venue is The Granary Estates. Hey lovelies! I hope you’re staying safe and cosy in this blustery weather! Today’s wedding is the perfect distraction from the wind and rain – Mimi and Jacob married on the 5th of January and incorporated so many cool ideas into their totally gorgeous and unique DIY wedding. The boys are all rocking a tux and dickie bow (and loving the James Bond look!); Mimi is absolutely stunning in a beautiful lace dress and veil. The details though… and the care and creativity these guys put into making their wedding a true reflection of their personalities is amazing!

Dodmoor house is beautiful without any extra decoration, but there’s also so much room to make it your own and add your own personality to the place. I always wanted a barn-style wedding and Dodmoor house ticked that box. But Jacob and I also enjoy lots of quirky things and different hobbies, which we were able to show in our table decorations. Each table fitted a different theme – games and superheroes (for Jacob), animals & crafts (for me) and a lego top table with matching wedding cake, as we both enjoy building lego together. This was all the handiwork of my very talented sister (and maid of honor), who handmade all the decorations including a differently themed tree centerpiece for each table, lego figurines of each member of the wedding party, placemats, and bunting.

Although today’s wedding starts with a church service, the vibe is wonderfully whimsical and woodlandy, with celebrations under canvas and even a hand fasting ceremony in the afternoon! The venue is Bedfordshire’s enchanting Tofte Manor; the photographer is our lovely friend and English Wedding member Nicola Norton Photography.

Gorgeous couple Georgina and Ben had a relaxed and beautiful wedding in the summer. Their day is beautifully styled with glorious bouquets of pink peonies, purple and coral blooms with splashes of greenery and fabulous textures. The peony styling continues through to the wedding cake, which is displayed prettily on rustic wooden tables at the wedding breakfast. Georgina’s stunning lace dress is the star of the show, and her delicate flower crown is just beautiful!

If your husband to be is out on his bike this Sunday afternoon, then this is for YOU! If you’ve both been cycling today and you’re relaxing after an exhilarating day in the saddle, then you’re going to love this more than anything you’ve ever seen on a wedding blog. Natalie and James – who’s a keen cyclist! – had a cycling themed wedding at Rockbeare Manor in August, and incorporated some ingenious styling touches into their day. Their photographer was our wonderful friend and English Wedding member Martin Dabek Photography, who captured the day so beautifully! I love the bicycle wheels with foliage on the walls, the table plan with a shelf full of cyclists… actually I love the whole day. And can we skip straight to that cake?!! The beautiful cake was made by Yvonne at Cherry Blossom Cakes and decorated with flowers by Emma at Brompton Buds.

Golden hour wedding pics for a gorgeous colchester wedding, with Photography by Grace (11)

Today’s wedding has the most beautiful golden hour pics – and a gorgeous bride and groom whose focus is on family and celebration. This is how a wedding should be – full of love, and as creative as you’d like your day to look!! The photos by Grace Elizabeth are just fabulous and really capture the love between these two! “Grace completely understood the vibe we were going for. From booking to receiving our photos, everything was effortless. She’s certainly extremely popular with our friends and family!”

Our ceremony was at Colchester Castle. It was a beautiful day and I don’t think I’ve ever seen the town so busy. A superhero invasion and a historical re-enactment really added to the magic of the day. We even had cannons going off during our vows. I had little girls waving at me and calling me a princess – it was surreal but amazing!

Colour makes me happy – and colourful, cheerful, vibrant weddings make me the happiest wedding blogger in the world! Today we’re sharing Charlie and Harry’s wedding at Eversholt Hall. Their day had a boho feel to it, with gorgeous bride Charlie in a flower crown of pink and ivory blooms with berries, and Harry looking relaxed and summery in a smart blue suit with white tie (a look I’m kind of loving right now!). Pics are by lovely Buckinghamshire wedding photographer Katrina Matthews, who’s very kindly introduced the wedding for us today!

Harry and Charlie got married on the 28th of July this year in Eversholt Hall, a lovely village hall sat on a little hill overlooking the village green.

They planned a DIY wedding, getting lots of family and friends involved. They had family perform with their band out on the green, friends make their wedding cake and the mother of the groom created the beautiful flower bouquets.
