Why hello there you beautiful thing you! I am so excited to share today’s gloriously romantic wedding with you! Our gorgeous couple Rosie and Chris had chose to say their ‘I dos’ in a sunny woodland setting with an amazing atmosphere, at the beautiful Blaithwaite House in Cumbria. Their styling and theme was relaxed with outdoor themes including greenery, upcycled wood and the most magical personal touches. Blaithwaite is a beautiful estate set in 250 acres of Cumbrian countryside. Rosie and Chris were married in front of ‘Mary Jane’s Summer House’, a beautiful building from the Victorian era situated on a little island surrounded by water. They told me it’s an absolutely breathtaking setting for a wedding, and I couldn’t agree more – I just know you’ll love this!

So this one’s really close to home for me: a Lake District wedding at one of our finest venues, nestling amongst the highest English mountains in the charming village of Grasmere. The venue is the Michelin-starred The Forest Side – a gem I’ve dined at, organised a photoshoot at, and where my mum & dad used to stay on their Lakes holidays before I was born!

These last few weeks have been crazy! May the 4th is a HUGE day for weddings this year – the force is most definitely with all of you lovely people getting hitched this bank holiday weekend!

I’ve been a busy little bee with lots of calligraphy work in my little home studio, so I thought I’d share a little with you today. And if any of you would like to book my services for your weddings later in the year I’d LOVE to hear from you!

My week began with Vikki’s gorgeous place names from Papier – they’re called Mother Amazon and they’re beautiful!

If you read the blog on Monday you’ll know I was still feeling blissfully relaxed and spoilt after a wonderful weekend courtesy of The Wordsworth Hotel & Spa in Grasmere. Regular readers will know the Lake District is my home, and every other (sunny!) weekend I’m to be found with my guy wandering up and down the mountains here. So to be offered a relaxing break on a rainy Saturday in February was a dream come true – and while we couldn’t tick off any summits this weekend, we had the most amazing time exploring Grasmere and The Wordsworth so we could tell you all about the place here on English Wedding.

Do you celebrate Halloween? Here at English Wedding HQ I love the old belief in fairies and spirits – it’s said they can reach us more easily tonight than at any other time in the year… so I see it as a time to pray for loved ones lost; to celebrate their lives and look back on precious times and memories shared. It’s also a lovely opportunity to cook pumpkin stuff – I actually spent a few happy moments writing on a little pumpkin in my calligraphy class the other week! Anyway – before I begin today’s blog post I have a request for wedding stylists and photographers – I would love to feature this year’s Halloween weddings on the blog this time next year. If you’re styling or shooting a wedding today, please consider submitting it for publication on English Wedding next year. We don’t need ghosts and goths (although, that would be pretty awesome!) – I’m looking for weddings with orange, autumnal or pumpkin styling ideas to inspire our readers. Thank you!
