There is so much to think about when starting out on the wedding planning journey. However, picking your wedding venue is one of the most critical aspects of planning your journey.

Your wedding venue sets the tone for your day, so you must ensure it is perfect. With so many choices out there it can therefore be tough to narrow your search, especially if you want to get married in Kent, one of the most sought-after counties in the country, at an outdoor wedding venue. So, if you are planning on getting married in Kent, there are a few other things to consider and keep in mind when choosing your venue.

Are you thinking of having a vegan wedding? Perhaps you’ve been invited to one, and you’re wondering what it’s all about. We’ll explain what a vegan wedding is, what to expect – and how you can plan one!

There’s a lack of awareness in the wedding industry, of what a vegan wedding might be.

There’s also a kind of nervousness from non-vegans, about attending a vegan wedding. Will it be weird? Will I have to eat raw vegetables all day? Can I have a drink? The answers are, in order, no, no – and YES of course you can!

Writing a wedding website means it’s second nature to me to question everything about weddings! But a lovely email from my friend Ross Willsher Photography got me thinking today.

If you’re new to the wedding world – say, for example, you’ve just got engaged – it can all be pretty confusing, especially when it comes to rules, regulations and traditions.

After a little while, you’ll realise many of the things you see at every wedding are optional. For example:

  • wedding rings
  • speeches
  • cutting the cake
  • a first dance
  • changing your name(s)

One of the best bits of advice I could ever give to couples, is to think twenty years into the future.

Right now, today, picture yourselves together in twenty years time. What will you remember of your wedding? Perhaps there’ll be family members who aren’t around any more. Perhaps your memories of the day will be fading a little…

In twenty years time when you pick up your wedding album, you’ll be hoping to relive your wedding day through the images you see in there. And the most precious photographs of your day will be the ones where you can see people’s characters and personalities.

It’s not often we say you “need” anything for your wedding! We’re a bit different like that at English Wedding. Your wedding should be YOU – and no other rules apply. Say your ‘I dos’ privately on top of a mountain, or in your living room, or have a massive ‘do’ with everyone you know. You do you.

However (you knew there was a but coming, didn’t you?) if you’re having a few people at your wedding, and you’re thinking about photos and specifically group shots – you will be needing these group photo hacks to make it nice and easy!
