A destination wedding treat! Bring me sunshine…

England in May… where is our sunshine?!! But fear not my hearties because I can show you pictures of some instead! Whether you’re now scowling or sporting a wry smile I can guarantee this beautiful wedding blog will take your mind off the rain and wind for a minute or five (if you click through to see more!)
Lize and Adriaan’s gorgeous South African wedding
You thought I’d say this wedding would make you feel warm inside, didn’t you?! Well it might… have a peek at Lize and Adriaan’s gorgeous wedding in South Africa, with photos by Anneli Marinovich. This wedding first featured on the English Wedding Showcase and I’ve been saving it up for a rainy day to share with you here!
An island wedding in Yorkshire
Helen and Rich chose a venue with a difference for their Yorkshire wedding: the Waterton Park Hotel sits on its own island within a nature reserve, near Wakefield. Helen’s Ian Stuart wedding dress is fabulous — she found it in a local bridal store for half price — and looks a dream in softly sparkling gold with French lace and pearls…
This wedding was sent in by Nicky Chadwick Photography. Nicky’s a friend of English Wedding blog, a regular contributor on my facebook page and a lovely lady whose comments always make me smile. Helen was kind enough to write a great wedding report — she’d worked hard to make their wedding day very personal, making her own bouquet and having it preserved as a very special memory of the wedding.
I don’t think either of us could stop smiling all day!
The title of this blog post sums up Anna and Mike’s wedding day in Manchester last summer: their smiles as they walk along the canal path are bursting full of happiness — and I love Anna’s words in her wedding report: “In every photo I am smiling – I don’t think either of us could stop!”.
I always love a bride who wears her glasses with pride too, and I think Anna looks amazing. There’s everything here: a wonderful story, some fabulous ideas and details, and of course the lovely photos by Manchester’s McAvoy Photography.
Here comes the sun! Part 2 of Olivia and Matt’s country garden wedding
More sunshine for you… with love from Olivia and Matt. Yesterday I featured their beautiful church wedding and we left them stepping out of the church hand in hand… today it’s time for the reception and it’s just so perfect… lush flowers and a sunny and happy day for you to enjoy.
Photos are by Pippa Mackenzie and words from Olivia. Watch out for a wonderfully eclectic cupcake tower — looking fabulous! — and some impressive shapes ‘thrown’ on the dancefloor… and why not listen to the wedding band while you look at the blog post? I’m enjoying their music as I type!
Here comes the sun! An English country garden wedding
Morning everyone! I hope some of you are enjoying a ray or two through your windows this morning… I always remember my teachers saying March “came in like a lion, out like a lamb” — so maybe it’ll be brighter in a week or two. But if you haven’t got sunshine outside this morning, scroll down: the lovely Olivia and Matt are sharing theirs!
Words are written by Olivia (as wonderful a wordsmith as she was a beautiful bride!) and the wedding photography is by Pippa Mackenzie.
Breakfast at Tiffany’s and a wedding at Eshott Hall
Elegance and glamour with a retro twist never looked so good… today I’m sharing Becky and Ben’s gorgeous wedding day from Eshott Hall in Northumberland. Ben is a very cool and dashing groom; I adore Becky’s glamorous style, her hair and make up and the charm and class of the entire wedding day.
The setting is captured just as beautifully by wedding photographer Alison Groves (who I was lucky enough to meet just a few weeks ago: she’s a lovely lady as you’ll see from Becky and Ben’s own testimonial at the end of this wedding blog).
Doing sunflowers with style: Mitton Hall wedding

This cute hand-drawn card for “Miss Payne and Adam” got me first. Then I fell in love with the sense of camaraderie at Alexis and Adam’s Mitton Hall wedding. The icing on the cake was — well, the gorgeous little cake sculptures which are little adventures of quirkiness all to themselves.

I feel as though I’ve followed Alexis’s wedding planning journey a little, and I was excited to see her wedding day — I’d heard all about the lovely lady from my friend and wedding photographer Jonny Draper months and months ago when we first met.
Emma and Hieu’s English Country Garden Wedding

Emma and Hieu were married in the “Palladian Mansion House” of Combe Bank School in Kent. How exciting does that sound, for starters? Emma chose a purple theme for the wedding day, and her attention to detail with all the decor on the day is so impressive I’m calling this wedding feature ‘Perfect in Purples’!
With lovely images from Eliza Claire Photography, and Emma’s own report of the wedding day, I’ll leave this feature to Emma and Eliza to share with you. You’ll love it!

Countryside wedding inspiration board
Did you see Tanya and Andy’s countryside wedding on the blog this week? I loved it so much I’ve turned the blog feature into a three-day event! We’ve heard about camping in the countryside before the wedding day, about tambourines in church and the band playing around the campfire, about games and cakes and lavender and campervans…
…well, I had to make you an inspiration board from some of the wedding photographs — all of the lovely images above are by reportage wedding photographer Mark Carey. The details and ideas to take away for your own wedding are:
